Trump says trips to New York City cost the US too much

President Trump says he feels guilty when he returns to NYC. He said his trips are too expensive and closes NT streets. Trump also said he goes to his club instead, it doesn't close streets because there are hundreds of acres.

President Donald Trump said Friday that he’s avoiding New York City because his trips are “too expensive” for the country.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump said he feels “guilty” when he returns to Trump Tower because authorities close surrounding streets and "I hate to see the New Yorkers with streets closed." He says he goes to his clubs instead because they have "hundreds of acres" and streets stay open.

NYC police dept is also flipping a huge tab when Trump spends the weekend there. So Trump is avoiding the city.

When the president is not in New York City, the New York police department estimates that it costs $127,000 to $146,000 a day to protect the first lady and their son.

If Trump is in New York City, the department puts the estimate at $308,000 a day.

So he is okay with millions being lost by companies in Florida but hates that New Yorkers are losing money?

They have to shut down air space in Florida which has a huge private Aviation community.

Guess when most flight training is done for pilots.... Its the weekends. Guess when Trump spends most of his time in Florida.... The weekends.... So within 40 miles(35nm) of the president General Aviation basically shuts down unless they are just going to and from the airports in the region.

this is something very interesting that has had me intrigued for quite some time yet i know of no good solution for the fix. this is the first time in modern history that weve had a president with such an extended family with kids that also are in charge of running a global company. the costs to protect them with SS is sky rocketing and getting out of hand yet im not sure theres much we can do about it, nor should, unless we feel like taking constitutional rights from them. in the end im not happy about the costs and id feel much better if the kids came out and said theyd no longer be representing the company overseas and instead will send a rep our use video conferencing, etc. for trump himself, theres always martha's vineyard

The aviation buffs will have to find a new airport, or new hobby for the next 7-8 years.

And it's not just Trump's visits there. It's also the cost of protecting his wife and son and maintaining the high security around Trump Tower. Whether or not she and Barron actually move to DC after school remains to be seen, even if that was stated as the goal. We won't know until that day comes.

The overall cost of protecting his fairly large family setup is quite steep and I don't think the US has ever seen anything like it in history.

Thats cold as hell. Trump doesnt need to make trips evey week. If he keeps up his current pace he could be the cause for a loss in local small businesses in the area.

this is also why marthas vineyard has been the go to place for presidents. its setup to avoid these types of scenarios while keeping the costs down.

Not have the president go on vacation every #ing weekend. Its really really simple and something the President could do very easily. It would save money and businesses.

im not happy about it but im also not happy about the reporting on it. many of those trips werent vacations but business meetings. i feel this is a holdover from his business days and is being used as a tactic to make the deal. my neighbors job is to take clientele on vacations and show them a good time while making deals on golf courses, in casinos, amusement parks, etc. you might be surprised to find out just how many business deals are brokered this way.

Yeah I actually like Melania. seems like a decent woman. I also like Ivanka but I think there runs a risk of nepotism here, and tbh, I dont know many of her stances outside of her tweets (I think if she wanted a necessary role in the white house, she should be in charge of her dads tweets)

Why does Trump get a free pass on not being at the WH? The man bitched an moaned about Obama taking a few trips and now he is bringing heads of states to Mar-a-lago because he spends so much time away from his job.
