Hatred!!!

At a level never known to mankind!

It could have brought us all together in knowledge but, now it's just a platform for the worst aspects of humanity.

Think of the possibility! If we used it to truly learn about our world and the history of the world we live in.

Now it's just a vehicle for people to judge, criticize, threaten and most of all...in my opinion EXPLOIT!

It truly is sad.

Im not sure calling someone Ignorant or a cuck is really that bad.
I would argue that its actually quite tame compared to say Aztec human sacrifice or the Inquisition.

I get what your saying, people are unnecessarily nasty, I just reckon weve been considerably more hateful in the past

How do you manage?

Do you consider yourself ignorant due to the internet or do you fancy yourself better than everybody else?

I have to agree, I see about half negativity on the net recently and it is not going to go away anytime soon. It allows negative people to pool together and get more confidence. I am beginning to think overall that it was a mistake.

You can break it down to one word, RESPECT.

People no longer want to earn respect by being respectful to others, they just DEMAND that others should be respectful towards them and their needs and wants..........

The internet is like visiting a large city. There are many different neighborhoods in each city. You can visit that serve your interests. Where you linger determines what you see and learn. What's your flavor, slums as a regular habitat or just visits? Buildings that contain the knowledge of the universe, or entertainment establishments? A quick dashing about according to you personal whims? Yes! That is that is what the internet is all about, it goes where you mouse takes you.

Precisely my point to a degree.

Lack of knowledge.

Knowledge truly is power.

We were given that opportunity with the internet and, for the most part, we failed.

Calling someone ignorant really isn't an insult if they have never been give the opportunity to learn.

The internet gave us all that opportunity and, as a whole, we wasted it.

It's still in it's infancy...and our relationship with it is still evolving.

The internet has achieved what the tower of Babel failed to achieve. As yet no power has come down and split Mankinds tongue and confused his speech. Until that happens we are all in possession of what could be termed a superpower that we are only just beginning to realise the full potential of.

I understand what you are saying, it is worth remembering that we are as yet just flailing infants in a new and much larger world. Don't despair just yet, we may still prevail.

I manage quite well... I hope you do as well in all honesty.

I consider myself as a life long learner by any means possible. I'm still ignorant myself in certain matters but, I try to rectify that fact as often as possible.
And, I'm certainly not even close to being better than anyone else and, I've never claimed otherwise.

It's ugliness at its worst!

I wish I saw your optimism in that it is only about half negativity.

It's certainly not going away either...I definitely agree with you on that.

I think that you are right, I agree.

But it wasn't always so.
I remember the old internet.
Before google, cookies, and advertising.
There were countless pages of knowledge,
sites selling their own products and services.

Here is just one example of what was destroyed.

Myspace was the fastest growing music scene in the history of the world.
Bands, some very small, were able to connect with fans directly, sell CD's directly, and real messages were starting to be artistically presented.

Then just in time for the Announcement of Facebook, a rumor was started that myspace was overrun with child molesters. Myspace withered on the vine, and Facebook rose up to crush independent music. Didn't save the music industry though did it.
