A republican is in office now.

For the past 8 years there was silence on ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment.

But now?
There will be a call for that.

There will be a focus on the homeless.

And they'll use the unaltered numbers to report unemployment figures.

DBCowboy, What does "Ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment" mean?

You're saying that the Homeless population will now get attention and hopefully a reduction, under Trump?

You're expecting the January Unemployment figure to be more accurate.. which means HIGHER?

Congrats! When she wakes up tomorrow, Trump
will still be her President.

no they probably don't have time to care or know what a small group of white foreigners are doing.

despite what most westerners think they are not that important to much of the world.

Adding the ERA to the Bill of Rights.

Good points, mOjOm. If I'm understanding correctly, you're saying that women feel that with Donald Trump now at the helm, they feel that their concerns have a better chance of being addressed, if they "raise the volume" loud enough.

Barack Obama, Bush, Bush, Clinton, Reagan, etc.. didn't show as much promise for assistance towards goal-achievement, which is why the mass protests are occurring at this point.

It's amazing that women in other countries are also joining in. I couldn't imagine American women protesting for equality, if the women in the United Kingdom, or Canada, called for a global day of protest.

I voted for Johnson. But I don't get all the hoopla over the election results other than butt hurt.

Two bad choices, one was going to win. I agree with some of his policies at least. I barely agreed with any of Clintons.

maybe they should act like adults and take their grievances to congress and the president in a constructive manner and receive a response before they go stomping up and down the streets like butt hurt little girls.
if you act like a child or a simpleton people will treat you like one.

They planned the protest before Trump was even inaugurated, they had no intentions of even letting him address their issues before they start protesting.
Make no mistake about it their protest is directed at Trump to solve their problems not at congress. we`ve had essentially the same congress for the last 8 years and they never protested congress or Obama to address their grievances.

Their actions have made it perfectly clear that they aren`t serious about having their grievances heard and addressed they just want to protest and bitch.
since they aren`t serious about having their issues addressed than why should congress or the president be serious about addressing them?
why should anyone take them seriously?

There's an official platform, you know. Here.

Just a few of the principles:

Lets go through these one by one, shall we.

“Accountability and justice for police brutality” and “[dismantling] the gender and racial inequities within the criminal justice system”

I will leave the racial inequity comment for now. Gender disparity? HAHAHA! What a joke. Women have it far easier in all areas of law enforcement, rather it be likelyhood to be arrested, sentencing, and even having less violent prisons. Are you telling me women are marching today to make these figures more even?

So lets have cops no longer assume men are at fault for domestic disputes. Lets have courts not favor women in custody or alimony battles. Oh wait, when these reforms are mentioned, it is WOMENS groups that fight against them. Heck, woemns groups even fight against battered men shelters, or having mens rights speakers speak on campuses.

Freedom from sexual violence

This means nothing. Other than perpetrators of sexual violence, who is against this? There will always be sexual violence, in fact, when you count prison, men are raped more often than women in the US. But why do those marching remain silent on this?

Also, there are actual rape cultures, like in some Muslim countries. I doubt these marchers were protesting them though.

Ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution that would guarantee equal protection based on gender

This basically exists. What protections don't they have/ I already discussed how law enforcement places an undo emphasis on protecting women even if it is unjust towards men.

What area are they not being protected under?

Affirming that all domestic and caretaking work is work, even if unpaid, and that women — especially women of color — bear the brunt of that burden

Absolute garbage. What does that mean, they want a pat on the back? This is some backdoor into trying to get compensation for stay at home moms.

How about we affirm men bare the overwhelming brunt of jobs that are incredibly dangerous? We want equal rights, right? So lets get those women up on those powerlines! Lets get them in the sanitation field! Oh wait, these women marching only want equal access to the jobs they like, and then they want to be celebrated for doing them.

Being a mom is a damn great job, and a difficult one. But if you need the government to affirm its important, there is something wrong with you.

“The right to organize and fight for a living minimum wage” for all workers, labor protections for undocumented and migrant workers, and “solidarity with sex workers’ rights movements”

Living wage argument is dumb in my opinon, but it could be a thread on its own. Undocumented, sure. These women had the time and resources to attend this march, so why don't each one of them take in one undocumented worker. Perhaps they or their loved ones can give up their jobs so that the undocumented may have it. Nah, I guess its simpler to wear a pink hat.

Sex workers rights I am actually for. So thats one I can give them. But why not protest Obama for this; what did he do for them?

Comprehensive reproductive rights, LGBTQ rights, and immigrant and refugee rights

Abortions. Ok we gt that one.

LGBT rights? What rights don't they have? Do you want it to be like Canada, where we have to use the gender prounouns they demand? No thanks, I don't care for fascism.

Immigrants and refugees, like I said why don't they put them up. They are looking at these issues from a purely emotional stance, not a logical one. I would ask these women then, do we allow all people seeking asylum in? What is the cut off point? If they think there is one, how dare they tell the first person left out they don't deserve to be here! What monsters these women are!

If they think we should allow everyone, then clearly they are incapable or rational thought, and should be disregarded.

Look, this list is clever, but in reality its not why these women are marching. After all, almost all of these issues were relevant under Obama.

The real reason they are marching is because of identity politics. Trump is evil, conservatives are evil, and so they march. Facts don't matter, only the narrative does.

Women's rights to make their own decisions about their bodies, and not to be grabbed by the pussy by some billionaire, and saying what's true, and what's right, and rejecting a president who calls women "pigs" and "nasty" and says they should be "punished" and all of the other things he said.

Are you new?? No, you aren't. ....YOU ARE AWARE OF ALL OF THIS!!!

Defund Planned Parenthood, de-legitimize equal rights for people who aren't 'christian' enough.....

omg.

no. I'm not going to belabor this. You all know exactly what you're saying, and you know the arguments.

Women have the right to have sexual relations with whom they'd like. She consented. So what's your point.

Looks like this strong protest effort was a little late.

They should have had this over the Nov 5th weekend.

It sure would have had a POSITIVE impact, as opposed to the INSULTING "Nasty Women" rallies that Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren held in final weeks!

I'm talking about 2018.

Take a look at the cities. Liberal.
Only 3 were in states that Trump won: Austin, Texas; Altlanta, Georgia; Pheonix, Arizona.
If every single one of the protesters in those three cities were new voters and had voted in the 2016 general election, Trump would still have won all three states.
This protest is not going to have much of an effect.
The only important thing in relation to 2018 results is what the Trump administration does between now and 2018.

This was a strongly delivered message, but much more of an echo chamber than a crowd that will change election results.

Rosie O Donell is a pig. My wife would say the same. Stop being so PC.

Defunding Planned Parenthood is all about getting the budget deficit reduced.

Abortion is wrong under most circumstances but the decisions been made. Baby killing isn't cool.

Those comments happens and tell your daughter they will happen for another 100 years. Tell her to find someone who won't say those comments.

Done.
