What does morality have to do with politics?

exactly, what is the drama in having an extra marital affair - it's not like he was the President and spilled National Security secrets in the bed.

That we know of. trump has a knack for settling without a judgement rendered, and a non-disclosure clause is part of the deal, as in the OP.

How is this any where comparable to Clinton's obstruction of justice and perjury?

If you don't honor a contract, you are obstructing justice. Donald Trump has done that a lot. If he has lied under oath-- and someone who signs contracts without intending to honor them would be prone to do that-- he has committed perjury. He needs to make all of his legal settlements public if he really intends to be President.

perjury is when you testify in court, under oath, and it is found to be a lie.

How does not honouring a contract amount to "perjury". I think you should stick to psychology threads, where words can mean anything.

Perjury, also known as forswearing, is the intentional act of swearing a false oath or of falsifying an affirmation to tell the truth, whether spoken or in writing, concerning matters material to an official proceeding.[1][A][1] Contrary to popular misconception, no crime has occurred when a false statement is (intentionally or unintentionally) made while under oath or subject to penalty—instead, criminal culpability only attaches at the instant the declarant falsely asserts the truth of statements (made or to be made) which are material to the outcome of the proceeding. For example, it is not perjury to lie about one's age except where age is a fact material to influencing the legal result, such as eligibility for old age retirement benefits or whether a person was of an age to have legal capacity.

The rules for perjury also apply when a person has made a statement under penalty of perjury, even if the person has not been sworn or affirmed as a witness before an appropriate official. An example of this is the United States' income tax return, which, by law, must be signed as true and correct under penalty of perjury (see 26 U.S.C. § 6065). Federal tax law provides criminal penalties of up to three years in prison for violation of the tax return perjury statute. See: 26 U.S.C. § 7206(1)

A contract is a legal document. If Trump can break faith with the people he does business with, he will break faith with the people who vote for him.

Wow

Trump has lied and cheated on his ex wife's many times and possibly his current wife

The reason this is bad is because if he can casually lie to the faces of his family where he has been while he was having sex with someone else just imagine how easy it is for him to lie to people he has no emotional attachments too

Bill Clinton is another person cast in the same mould,I would not trust either of them

It was consensual, and then she wanted to "kiss and tell" but was silenced with a payout - who's the "immoral" one here?

Is morality a thing any more?

What is the name again? for a woman who takes money for sex?

Prostitute?

And when payment is taken for silence .... and then tells ...

Are they required to pay the money back?

Principals?? morals??

Wow

Are you privy to his personal affairs?

I believe many couples have what is termed *open* marriages.

Sex is between a man and his wife, it doesnt include the rest of his

family, so he doesnt need to tell them what he's been up to, and like

I said he may have an *open marriage*

Excuse me?
Can you link to that piece of information please?
Pretty shocking slander that.
Melania is suing some media outlets for claiming she was involved in porn - but your slander is even worse! Stick the word 'allegedly' or something in there, for gods sake.

Just because a newspaper backs down after a libel suit threat doesn't mean the story is not true. The following link is for Eletheia: Have a good look at the woman you want as First Lady.

Did I mention I was voting? I couldn't if I wanted to, I am not in the US.

This being a discussion board I was giving my views on lying, morality etc.

Not everyone on ATS is American, does that not qualify them from having

an opinion?

No.... It means that they don't have any hard evidence.

Just because they lack hard evidence doesn't mean it's not true. There is no hard evidence that Hillary Clinton let donations to the Clinton Foundation influence her policies.

I wanted Bill Clinton outed...but not impeached, that was ridiculous.

The "drama in having an extra marital affair " in politics has to do with blackmail liability.

It's quite something when the National Enquirer has a better set of criteria for publishing information than CNN. Fox, MSNBC and the rest of the MSM.
