Rumi is one of my favorites also, although there are at least from my studies in every faith in the past or present, easily recognized once you know what to look for as the ones who were realized were all teaching the same about Love and Wisdom...but with the language and concepts they used around at the time when they were alive ... and as you implied, people in many cases perverted them for dogma and nonsense...such a pity, in my opinion.
