Vocativ

I was hesitant to post this because bringing attention to the alt-right and their sites such as the Daily Stormer doesn't seem like a good idea. Obviously I decided to go ahead. I think it's important for people to know when children are targeted for anything, it's also a glimpse into the way these people spread their filth and how it's beginning to permeate into the mainstream.

I'm not going to link to The Daily Stormer, I'm pretty sure it's against TC's to link to Nazi propaganda however I did go to the site and find the article myself and everything claimed in the Vocativ article is true but there's more to it. Anyone that cares to will have to verify it for themselves. It appears, as the author (founder of the site by the way) of this Nazi Challenge later updated the article with a link explaining his logic. Other alt-rightists were worried that the Hitler images and racial slurs would hurt Trump and the alt-right movement over all.

Andrew Anglin, the neo-Nazi wordsmith behind the alt-right Daily Stormer blog, posted a story on Tuesday about an “enterprising Stormer” (a follower of Anglin’s blog) who is finding Pokémon Go gyms, which serve as battle grounds for players, and distributing recruitment fliers to kids with the hope of “converting children and teens to HARDCORE NEO-NAZISM!”

“The Daily Stormer was designed to appeal to teenagers, but I have long thought that we needed to get pre-teens involved in the movement,” Anglin wrote in the blog post. “At that age, you can really brainwash someone easily. Anyone who accepts Nazism at the age of 10 or 11 is going to be a Nazi for life.” He added, “And it isn’t hard. It’s just a matter of pulling them in. And what better way to do it than with Pokémon fliers at the Pokémon GO gym???”

Anglin declined to identify the “stormer” behind the fliers by name, nor did he disclose where these fliers have been distributed—saying only that it is in an “American town.” Vocativ could not find any media or law enforcement reports of neo-Nazis handing out the fliers in any city. Nor could experts who monitor people like Anglin and groups like the alt-right.

Anglin, in his post justifying the tactic, explains that using Hitler and Nazi symbolism will appeal to naturally rebellious prepubescent boys who love anything with bad words and a shock factor. He also seems to think that once the story makes mainstream media it will simply become more background noise with most people dismissing it as too ludicrous to be true and "causing the media to lose credibility".

Anglin also describes that the tactic will ultimately grow the movement because of the Overton Effect, present something so vile that anything less than that becomes acceptable, causing more people to accept less extreme right wing ideas.

I need a shower.

Do you have no shame? Why are you so willingly allowing yourself to be manipulated and used as a puppet?

Did you bother to read past the title, or verify that whether what the article or myself is claiming is true or false? Tell me what exactly I should be ashamed of.

All the while, Google and the NSA are using that app to track the movement, activity, and likely the voices of anyone playing the game... This looks like a set up for the feds to harvest some low hanging fruit.

Maybe he thinks it's a good idea to expose kids to racist, antisemitic, homophobic, Nazi propaganda? People that expose this kind of crap to kids needs a foot broke off in their butt.

It doesn't change the fact that these people are out there and they are targeting children, they are all over kids websites and online games as well creating new accounts as quickly as they are banned.

Well, the American Jewish media has picked up on the story.

Perhaps it is worth looking in to and not immediately dismissing it.

Unless, of course, you agree with what the neo-Nazis may be doing.

Dear liberals:

Nazis were the National Socialists Party...
They sought to control industry, speech, schools, cars, medical care, everything!!!
Sound familiar???

Spoiler alert: contrary to academia's attempt to rewrite them as a right wing movement, they were leftists in every sense of the word....

Also it's the kids using the app, not the alt-rightists distributing the flyer. These people are literally walking up to these kids handing the flyers out and plastering them all over the vicinity of where kids congregate.

I don't know what to make of this. My first reaction would be that the Neo-Nazi movement is so small as to be statistically insignificant.

I suppose a few kids might find this and take it up.............but............how many? And for how long? This stuff has a tendency to peak pretty quick.

This is an interesting thread.

Thanks Kali, it's a good thing to bring to the attention of us parents. There's no harm in making parent's aware that Pokemon Go can be used as a way to prey on children. I don't really know why anyone would have a problem with that. It's not falling into anyone's plot. LOL

Why does it matter if Neo Nazi's are far right or far left? Does it insult people on this thread who self Identify as Ring Wingers/Conservatives? We know that going way to far to the right or left and twisting things a bit leads to extremism that usually isn't good, yes?

Next point...is there really a true NSA/FBI plot to track people using Pokemon Go? I see benifit of using it in a meta data sort of way, but it comes down to the argument of why track mostly kids/Teens and slacker adults? Are they worth tracking? When does too much worthless data become too much worthless data?

Modern Socialists always deny their National Socialist ancestry.
