Labour MP Keith Vaz has announced that he will resign from the Home Affairs Select Committee after a Daily Mirror sting recorded the married member of parliament meeting multiple men identified as male prostitutes in his apartment.

The Daily Mirror says Vaz asked the men to "bring poppers," a sex-enhancing drug. Text messages published by the Daily Mirror reportedly show Vaz sending "don't forget the poppers" to one of the men. The MP reportedly offered to cover the cost of coc aine for the escorts, but declined to take any himself.

. . .

Vaz is currently chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee, and is overseeing a shake-up of the UK's laws on prostitution as well as an investigation into harm caused by coc aine.

This man has annoyed me several times. I'm not surprised he has secrets that he could easily be blackmailed over. Time to look back at his decisions and ask how many were made under pressure of blackmail.

He backed the create-a-terrorist project. Why?

Vaz's backing for the 42-day terrorist detention without charge "was seen as crucial by the Government."

I don't know why politicians think that if they have illicit sexual encounters with prostitutes / escorts, then they will not be found out.

Personally, I don’t give a monkey’s banana about politicians sexual shenanigans as this proves they are human, but the use of prostitutes, escorts or call girls/boys calls into question their moral compass in my opinion, especially when drugs are allegedly involved.

At least Vaz has had the decency to resign without a fuss, but has yet to put his position, although this does appear somewhat weak at the minute.

On a side note... Vaz has been an active campaigner against violence in video gaming; a cause that is worthy of mention in my view. That said, he's been the subject of some avoidable controversies in the past.

Kinda makes sense of this in relation to poppers.

The MP for Leicester East had opposed government attempts to criminalise the drug. Ministers later announced they would remain within the law.

There were a few MP's against the ban of the sex drug they use , yet the ban on the social Green remains in place for us plebs.

What a scumbag, hypocritical liar Vaz is. Typical politician. Do as I say, not as I do.

I never understood his merits. What the f*** enabled him to stay at the top for so long? He cocked up (pun intended) many, many times and never appeared to have a defined political ideology. What did he actually stand for?

It's kinda prurient to be gloating over the way he's come to a sticky end lol

He practically supported Sharia in the UK and was often implicated in business-based corruption. All of that's A-OK and he finally falls on his sword over rent boys. What a world.

I'm not really fussed if Vaz is gay or bi, it's his life and between him and his missus.

But he was reckless in leaving himself open to blackmail. That plus he's a dubious character anyway, doubtful associations & financial chicanery (and a mountain of expenses the UK taxpayer had to pay for). His contrived plummy accent, the whole sanctimonious thing ... I'm glad he's been shown up for being a 2 faced *rick.

If he had any honour he'd resign as an MP and disappear for good.

At least one more pro-EU politician is now history. Slowly but surely the corrupt are being culled.

your very stupid, its called 'detention without charge'.
it was to prevent the far right from saying there's not enough been done against terrorists.
that was easy, follow politics sometime.

I wonder what prompted this very sudden "outing" of Vaz?

MI5 / Special Branch (as always) would have been well aware of his activities for a long time and took no action, storing the information up for a rainy day, when it could be used to greatest effect.
I also saw another story from The Sun linked on another site last night, claiming material had been passed to the police on the activities of a serving labour MP in relation to pedophilia Not seen it (yet) on the BBC or other organs of the press.

Someone clearing house before an important vote on something or creating something sensational to hide another issue is usually the way these things go.

Sounds sort of like a 'hillary-gate' in the UK. Hillary's skeleton's that are piled in her server room are about to start falling out. These damn politicians....ego maniacs, that they think they can get away with their creepy, crooked ways.....glad they caught this nutjob.

Peace

This goes some way to explaining his support for Lord Janner.

I bet there's a whole load more in that particular closet.

Vaz is blaming his actions on the media and suing them.
