It didn't have to make anyone look worse though, that's the thing. Obama only looks worse because he set himself a bad precedent with Bush and sent some bizarre message to people struggling to survive about racism, and Hillary only suffered because rather than immediately joining Trump in solidarity to help these people she just sent tweet. She could have gotten off her ass come and helped as well, donated, also sent supplies and showed strength in bipartisanship where it came to Americans in need. she chose the exact opposite.

The only reason they came out of this looking bad was actions of their own doing.

Stop blaming Trump because they made bad decisions.

You are right, and so could have Trump.
But he waited till everyone was talking about how bad it was looking for them and then he did.
That is all I have been saying. That there was, IMO, a blatant ulterior motive here other than he just wanted to help them. Not saying he didn't want to, just that there was much more to him actually going down there and making sure he was seen helping. Kinda like those people that put their good deeds on facebook or youtube.
Not sure how that correlates to blame.

Also why shouldn't the other listen to the people that are asking them not to come down?
Strange how this continually gets ignored in all of this...

To be honest, I didn't know how horrific the flooding in Louisiana was until the (paraphrasing), "Trump and Pence will Visit Louisiana's Flood Zone" ATS thread was created. Then, I started paying attention.

I just did an ATS search on "Louisiana" and it doesn't look like any ATS members who live there, or anywhere else, started a thread to let us know how bad the flooding was.

Sounds like getting all your news from ATS failed this time.

Maybe checking out the MSM every once in a while isn't such a bad thing. Just make sure to have on your tin foil cap on.

Right, no "politics as usual" to see here. I see that our motto has been completely discarded by many ... embracing ignorance, rather than denying it.

Oh, and as far as the supposed "Trump Humanitarianism" ... you may want to check out an old movie:

Omen III: The Final Conflict.

Yup...

Anyone know exactly when Obama and Clinton are gonna get around to visiting?

Taking bets: Will Clinton bring anything to hand out?

That church parking lot looked so disrupted. How dare he. And the Clintons have enough money to airlift/drop supplies to LA, so they could do something. But I guess it isn't politically expedient if they aren't gonna win LA in the general.

I have the MSM on the TV, but the sound is down and closed-caption running. I only turn it up when it looks like something BIG is happening. I saw a reporter in Louisiana standing in knee-high water next to a stop sign, but you see segments like that every week from our hype-prone MSM.

When ATS announced that Donald Trump was visiting, I knew it was bad. Then I wondered (and still do), why didn't Obama take the first initiative? Even though Hillary is self-centered, I was somewhat surprised that she stiffed the residents of LA. But there's a thread that explains her lack of action.

Let's see who works to make sure that Louisiana has the funds it needs to recover over the next few years, not make a spectacle out of handing out Play-Doh for 15 minutes.

The straw man argument...yup...you know they are reaching when they say that.

Yeah, and you know that the Trump Tru-Belivers are desperate when they start making blatant logical fallacies, which these days, is all the fricking time.

The argument you're praising was that unless I had a statement from Trump that his sideshow was purely political, I (for some absurd reason) have no reason to point out, as thousands have, that it was at BEST a purely political act.

The absurdity of that is obvious and telling.

As is your feeble attempt to sideswipe my post ... we all know that "they" (i.e. you) are desperate to praise your Dear (Hopeful) Leader at this point ... no matter how ersatz his "philanthropy" may be.

Pathetic.

I hear you. Years back there was a quake in LA (Los Angeles not Louisiana) and the MSM was showing a fire in the middle of a street.

My mom noted the name of the street and recalled that a friend lived somewhere near where that street was. She called her up and her friend told her that the MSM was exaggerating and that the quake was nothing major and that a gas line had burst and ignited but that that is all they had to show, over and over, but that it was really no big deal, for Southern California.

I'm seeing 13 deaths due to the recent flooding. No death is cool but, Katrina has something like 1500 deaths attributed to it in Louisiana so this flooding seems to be less drastic in that way. Maybe people where just better prepared.

Either way the info was there. I saw it here in Guatemala as soon as Monday, August 15. If Americans didn't catch it until after Trump decided to visit then I don't know where they were looking.

You are forgetting about the local resources needed to facilitate his visit.

Local police, blocking traffic, etc.

Trump doesn't pay for that. He is the cause of that expense, just like when any high-profile politician goes somewhere.

Those local resources would have been better spent elsewhere.

But good on Trump for donating some stuff. Considering he is making money off this campaign, that seems kind of empty.

Ok lets deal in PROVABLE REALITY for just a second.

Trump came with NO ADVANCE NOTICE , NO PRESS RELEASE, or ANY ATTEMPT AT ADVANCE PR with a semi full of supples HE PAID FOR (or aquired since exact receipts have not been forwarded) within a few days (depending on when one says the tragety happened) for THE VICTIMS OF THIS NATURAL DISASTER.

ONLY AFTER HE ARRIVED the press arrived and HE WAS ALREADY HELPING UNLOAD SUPPLIES (not the tolken box or two and then talk to the press).

He made comments about others (ex obama and hillory ) when DIRECTLY QUESTIONED BY PRESS.

Now you (and other anti trump) make accusations of " local resources needed to facilitate his visit" and "Local police, blocking traffic, etc".

EXACTLY WITH FACTS/LINKS/ECT what reasources?

Again he came WITH NO ADVANCE NOTICE with HIS OWN SEMI (WITH RELIEF SUPPLIES) , OWN SECURITY, AND NO PERSONAL PRESS.

Or is this again the typical anti trump groups "because we say so its fact".

"PROVABLE" ???

Okay, aside from typing in ALL CAPS ... why don't you PROVE that Trump didn't announce his "arrival" (absurd if you knew anything about how Secret Service protection works).

Prove that he didn't arrive with what seemed to be a half-full truck that some campaign flunkies probably stopped by a local Walmart on the way with, after renting it for an hour or two ... or whatever happened.

Proof is not Statement.

The press knew he was going to travel to LA at least the day before. At this link you can find the link to a tweet sent by a CNN reporter the day before Trump went to LA. A source close to Trump leaked his visit to the press.

At this link you can see that Trump traveled in a "long motorcade with several state Republican politicians". That would require police escorts and blocking of traffic to facilitate a motorcade with not only the politicians, but also their security details.

Also, I find it funny that he handed out Play-Doh.

Bottom line it seems to me is that no matter the motivation, Trump actually DID something. If he was seen only for 40 seconds unloading a truck, that's 40 seconds that Hillary and Obama weren't doing anything for the people in need.
No matter what was on the truck, that's a truckload of things that Hillary and Obama didn't bring.

I mean if I was starving in the streets and Trump came with a bag of Cheetos and a camera crew, I'm still eating Cheetos instead of starving that day. I do not like a great deal of what Trump says or does, but come on, some of you are really reaching with this one.

Trump DONATED 70,000 LBS of supplies to flood victims; MSM silent.

Perfect photo OP! Here's the video. He made sure to spend 49 seconds roughly pretending to roll up his sleeves and unload a truck for the cameras. (I mean, you didn't really believe Donald Trump was unloading a truck for real did you?) The whole thing is staged and staged horribly. Obviously none of you are in logistics. They couldn't find a dock door to back this thing into? Nobody in their right mind unloads a trailer from the ground like this.

video here

Strangely this appears to be toys? Not that toys aren't great. Kids lost toys and receiving toys I'm sure will bring a smile to their faces. It's just curious. Not to nitpick but since the Tweet includes "70,000 lbs" as though that's supposed to be impressive:

I'm actually in the industry. The 70,000 lbs is the weight of a the truck and trailer + supplies. The actual weight of the load would likely be oh... I dunno depending on the weight of the truck and trailer, 42,000 lbs or so. A full load of prime rib (the most expensive stuff we generally transport) runs about $250,000. This is probably worth 1/10th of that per lb.

Worth every penny in publicity.

I've never seen Obama pick up anything heavier than a Ping driver.

Obama didn't even send help.

It was ok back then to rip the GOP candidate due to his response to Katrina, now it's ok to pull a 180 and rip on the current GOP candidate for actually showing up?

Bizarro world...

Found a transcript of the radio ad for those who couldn't listen..

www.gwu.edu...

(Male )Announcer: Hillary Clinton has spent her life standing up for people others don’t see.

Clinton: Too many Americans today feel as though they are invisible... If you are a child in a crumbling school along the Corridor of Shame, you ARE invisible to this president.

Announcer: Thirty-five years as a tireless advocate for children and families…

Clinton: If you’re a mother without health care, a father without a job, a family that can’t get by on the minimum wage... you’re invisible as well.

Announcer: Time and again, Hillary Clinton has stood up to President Bush…stood up for us.

Clinton: And if you’re stuck on a rooftop or stranded in the Superdome during a hurricane you’re invisible to this president even when you’re on CNN. [applause]

Well, you are not invisible to me, and you should never be invisible to the president of the United States.

Announcer: Hillary Clinton. If you’re ready for change. She’s ready to lead. Paid for by Hillary Clinton for President.

Clinton: I’m Hillary Clinton and I approve this message.

No mention of a consulate in Libya, I see.

Oh well. She will straighten up when she is elected.

She promised.
