The obvious difference is that one is focused on dying and the other one on surviving.

no one knows what is someone's head. Daredevil types may often or always really want death.certainly makes it easy you risk your life people love you and give you money but if you die great!

Dont know the specifics about what he is doing, but Ive jumped at 17 thousand feet. its not that hard to maneuver.

You can track and change directions pretty easily, he will be down to the normal levels people jump at pretty fast... and normal jumpers rarely get to far off track... and a guy with 18000+ jumps would have no issues with hitting his mark unless he gets hit with some really weird wind gusts.

Well...good luck to him.

He's as mad as a box of frogs, but good luck to him.

"Death is imminent"

That's a certainty for everyone on the planet through, but what a way to go!

Personally i think he will achieve the feat and survive to boot. The physics are sound, all he needs to do is not miss the netting.

I'll turn my tv on just for this. We'll see how he does.

Been thinking but this, can't imagine how he plans to terminal guide to the net 'without any guidance'. Is this his first time doing this? Has anyone else been successful from higher than a circus tent into the net?

The winds aloft would have to be slight to zero, he world have to steer somehow.

In each of those cases they fell into a forest of pines and terminated in a snow bank or hit a steep slope of thick snow which absorbed the impact as they tumbled down the hill.. They didn't steer to them, either.

This guy is hoping he'll hit something much smaller than a pine forest or a snow covered mountain.

Lots of luck...

Best I can figure is that he'll have people jumping with him that'll do the guiding.

Good idea, something up his sleeve, anyway. Some sort of 'fins' or 'extensions'. Maybe really large flat boots, too.

Like when you fire a bullet, even the least amount of breeze over distance will affect the trajectory.

He may think he's heading toward the target but at final approach realize he's drifting. Maybe they'll also have some kind of ground smoke signals he can tell what way the wind is drifting, so he can change orientation. Maybe they will drop dummies or something ahead of him so he can see their drift as they get close to the ground.

The guy is good, granted. Surely put a lot of thought into it.
