Without immanent lawless action, there is no case.

Uttering threats of bodily harm or damage to property is a criminal offence. It most certainly is an arrestable offence if you stand at the doors of LAX and say you want to blow up a plane.

Where the hell do you people get off thinking that "free speech" entails ALL speech?

You are NOT free to threaten harm on others.

That would encroach on other people's right to life, liberty and HAPPINESS!

I lived in a predominately Muslim area for the best part of a decade. I also attended a secondary school that was pretty much half Asian half Scottish. Trust me when i tell you they are not all like her, or would even entertain the overtly crazy gibberish spewing forth from her puss.

Yes there are a hard core few who subscribe to and support a jihad, hate the west and bump there gums about Sharia law but most are just people who wish to get on with there everyday lives like the rest of us.

If she was a white Christians, this would be headline news around the country and maybe even the world. They would claim its because of Brexit.

If that were so, the entire newsfeed all over the world would consist of nothing but drunks and hooligans spewing venom as they are escorted to jail. The streets are filled with lunatics spouting psychotic garbage; the only thing that makes this one newsworthy, in your eyes, is that it is a crazy Muslim woman instead of a crazy Seventh Day Adventist.

Threats simply don't do that. She was likely arrested for making amorphous threats in a the airport, but still beyond checking her out, they had no reason to hold her beyond making sure was only raving.

And a threat cannot deprive you of your life or your liberty. And re-read the Preamble and Declaration, you have no right to happiness. You only have the right to pursue it. So, sure it makes people extremely unhappy to hear someone raving about how they'd like to blow up the US, but it doesn't keep us from pursuing happiness.

I agree with Butcherguy below. I dont think they NEGLECTED to report it at all...there is so much going on every minute of each day, we couldnt possibly hear about it all. I witnessed a terrible incident Friday where a woman plowed into a group of summercamp kids and counselors. Many were Arabic or Middle Eastern aong with the camp counselors.

1st thing I thought...IMMMEDIATELY was it was intentional to try to kill the kids, instead of a woman hitting the gas instead of the brakes. The driver was hysterical, one teen counselor slightly hurt when she pushed a little boy out of the way...he twisted his knee.

Now, you'd expect the news...even locally...would report something as that given the political tension these days. It was not. Did you or anyone hear about this? Everyday, everywhere things are happening...even shootings, fires, racial incidents...but we just dont/wont nor cannot...hear about them all.

This is everyday. There are waaaaaaaay more events, police and shooting incidents than we hear of like this story...to report them all.

A true threat is a threatening communication that can be prosecuted under the law. It is distinct from a threat that is made in jest. The U.S. Supreme Court has held that true threats are not protected under the U.S. Constitution based on three justifications: preventing fear, preventing the disruption that follows from that fear, and diminishing the likelihood that the threatened violence will occur.[1] There is some concern that even satirical speech could be regarded as a "true threat" due to concern over terrorism.[2]

The true threat doctrine was established in the 1969 Supreme Court case Watts v. United States.

@12:30 in the video, the woman says she left her Muslim family in her country...and that her family is "Royal".

SERIOUS question:
Does anyone here consider me to be bigoted or Islamophobic for drawing attention to this video and the event it captured?

How could anyone accuse you of that when your bringing this to our attention, something the news media seems to refuse to do.

While others have been making their own story up about this woman I have been speaking to her brother, he has told me that she is from Chad and they have tried to get her back home but in the states they say she has the right to stay there. She's also been in and out of many mental hospitals suffering from a delusional mental health illness but they don't want to keep her in one in the states but acknowledge she needs looking after.

They (her family) have tried everything to get her to return home but they are not getting any help from the US system. They just want to get her home to look after her.

I would say that most people who blow themselves up or shoot up masses of people have mental illness.

Unfortunately that doesn't make it any less dangerous. I hope her family can figure out what to do.

How in the world have you been in contact with her brother.

Nobody goes into hospital for delusional behaviour, it’s not even a recognised mental health disorder. If somebody is hospitalised on the basis of delusions alone then there is a very good chance that a miscarriage of justice happened somewhere along the lines as it would represent a grave violation of human rights.

She stated she wanted to go home to her country and her family...yet it was her own actions which prevented her from boarding a plane home.

Is she telling the truth when she indicated she was a member of the "Royal" family?

I agree with you.

There seems to be a misunderstanding, Free Speech covers you when you speak out against the government, it does not confer protection to say these things to anyone, anywhere.

You could picket outside a gay bar saying your all going to hell, when you start saying we are going to blow all you up is when things get gray. Once you directly address somebody it's gets clear.

There are many federal and local laws related to this. You can't go I'm a gay bar either and start screaming your going to shoot the place up that's not free speech. Telling someone you mean them harm of not "joking" is not in any way free speech.

Even sermonizing saying we need to get rid of the gays is different than telling gay people to their face your going to kill them all.

The fact it was in an airport after an attack makes it even more in the realm of a true threat.

Her mental state doesn't really matter except for posibly the charges she would get. They are still going to remove and consider the person dangerous.

I would hope the left would understand this isn't about Muslims,. If some nut was ranting about shooting up another abortion clinic the day after the last nut did such a thing I hope the police take it seriously.

There is no benefit of that kind of speech to society. You can be verbally abusive in domestic violence cases as well.

I watched the video. Those aren't fighting words. I think you might need to look into it more.

Threatening to bomb and kill civilians 'aren't fighting words'?!?

Lady, you are delusional.

I'm not agreeing with her, in fact, I'm glad she was arrested, as should anyone making terroristic threats at an airport, but, maybe I missed it because I was just skimming the video, but what about that was "unbelievable" or "horrifying to watch?" It was some screwed up woman making verbal threats. I mean...horrifying? I just saw a car drive by my office, on a 40 MPH street, going probably close to 50 MPH. I found it at least 100x more horrifying, and I honestly didn't find it horrifying at all.

Sounds plausible, but we have no evidence or reasoning to believe you either. Can you give us some more information, or are we just supposed to assume? I don't personally care where she goes, as long as it's out of the US, or locked up in the US, I'm just curious about what your connection to her brother is, since you're sharing this information with us.

Without more information on the connection, we have natural ATS-mode defenses which prevent us from assuming anyone is or knows who they say they are/know.

You are delusional. I was speaking of the first amendment exception called "fighting words", and whether such a charge could be upheld in constitutional law. I wasn't speaking about the layman's use of the term.
