I don't think it's a good trend to try and remove the use of words in general. Doesn't mean I support using them all the time either. But they should always be available.

Just like Triggered. I hate that stupid term. I hate the fact that I just used it in that example above. I'm disgusted with myself right now for it. But I was playing so I'll have to excuse myself this once.

But as much as I hate that word being used and it's used a lot lately, I wouldn't ever suggest that everyone stop using it. It will die out soon enough naturally.

Being able to vocalize quite loudly is on thing.

It is the silent attackers that worry me

I think ATS is going to need a group therapy forum at this rate. Call it the "Safe Space" where only hugs and stars are aloud.

"Safe space". Another propagandist term.

Jesus, when do people start to think for themselves and talk like they at least tried to do so?

Apparently asking for basic respect for others is a difficult thing for some. I guess we all age differently.

It's a give and take on these boards.

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

Sometimes "pejoratives" are used.

But the respect I have for those I talk to don't diminish. I don't do group hugs or wet kisses on behinds.

Why would I need to spell out the respect I hold for those I deal with on these threads?

Does no one get this? It's not an ATS sponsored thing. No censorship is being asked for here. What IS being asked is that members treat others with a little more respect. Is that too hard to understand and accept?

I understand what you mean, and agree words should never be banned, even though i too, prefer not to use many of the words on the list you presented.

At times it feels like a modern day book burning the way some carry on or demand this of others. No one is the same, nor ever will be. Nor do all of us think the same way at any given time. Feelings take over, sometimes a i'm holier than thou attitude takes over and sometimes people need to release for whatever reason.

I'm sticking with "punk-ass sissy."
I like the way it rolls off the tongue.

I try to treat each person with the respect they have shown me, is that a bad thing? I suppose it is, I should probably give respect unreservedly. It seems as if you are asking for a universal respect from the get go. Some people do not deserve my respect. And I am certain some people feel the same way about me. But I won't cry about that, it is what it is.

Edit: I imagine you are composing a response about being respectful as a ToC; I haven't been post banned yet, so I suppose I follow the rules generally.

Respect is earned otherwise it means nothing.

Granted there is a basic amount you should give any stranger as well.

However not everyone earns respect and in fact some even destroy what was given to them as strangers.

I thought one had to earn respect.

Maybe I'm wrong.

Yup, same here. Let us ALL raise the bar.

I don't think you are wrong. And to add to that, if a person holds an opinion you do not respect in any way, you should not have to pretend that you do.

Again, an opinion, it is mine.

It used to be that way.

Now they give it to everyone along with all the trophies for being a snowflake.

I believe that the bar on this site is the highest of any place I know, to raise it higher would not encourage debate, but rather stifle it.

Words are just words.

If one doesn't have basic respect for other humans that makes them a sociopath. Basic respect. It goes up or down from that depending on ones perception of them.
