Why should it be a big deal? There's nudist beaches and camps all over the world, most are even family-friendly. If we can manage that, I think we can swing bathrooms & locker rooms.

S&F. I can only hope that this could end this silly, illogical debate. But it won't.

I haven't commented on this issue in any forum yet, but this is how I feel about bathrooms. Anyone's house I've ever been to, regardless of how many bathrooms they had, never had a male or female designation for their bathroom. If I was staying at anyone's house, I'd use the same toilet or shower that everyone else uses. Normally the household owners have their personal hygiene supplies all over the bathroom, male and female all together. That is what is normal at people's homes.

So public privies are somewhat different, but if they can put baby changing tables in both restrooms, then who cares about other accommodations like a small feminine napkin waste basket in the stall? They have handicap stalls with special features, perhaps designate stalls for other special needs too. They could make all public restrooms unisex or keep the current system but add some private unisex bathrooms nearby. Some people may want the privacy regardless of their gender, natural or reassigned.

Concerning public schools, I don't believe there should be any gender reassignment for minors under the age of 18. Any students with problems arising from gender identity should be treated on a case by case basis. School dress codes could help by requiring a gender neutral uniform or dress according to genetic sex rather than personal sexual identity.

Overall though, it sounds like a less important and tiny issue when talking about individual rights and personal liberties in this country today.

Nice try, I'm from the south and have a slight drawl myself so I'm only speaking truth but if that offends you then you need tougher skin.

I wasn't actually offended by that other poster simply because he and you both are nothing to me, you do not put food on my table or money in my pocket and I do not know let alone personally interact with you, essentially you are nothing more than a bigot on the other end of a computer from my viewpoint.

Even though I may not personally care about the petty ramblings of someone with such a black and bitter heart, calling me or any other person of a sound reasonable mind "mentally ill" or worse an "idiot" simply because you do not like them for what or who they are is both imbecilic and offensive. Well Sargeras, I was born in Brooklyn NY. So were my parents. So this is my country of origin.

Is that what YOU do when you see naked women and children, oogle them? It sounds like YOU are the one with issues if oogling children is on your mind. I assure you my children are well trained how to handle that.

When we use the family locker room at the YMCA there are changing rooms available. Some people use them. Some don't. Some people are capable of being nude around others without oogling them.

Europe is made of drastically smaller nations that can more easily accommodate its citizens in comparison to the United States. Most countries there can fit multiple nations into just one of some states in the USA. I would not say that America is 50 to 100 years behind, America has a whole slew of issues that are so starkly different than that of Europe I can't see this as accurate.

No, I don't think that. You make a very good point. In this society (United States of America) that type of behavior is generally unacceptable.

But there are alternatives, such as the one you mentioned. Or such as the one I mentioned... family, or coed, or unisex, or whatever you want to call them restroom or locker rooms.

Or you can do what is done on most college campuses in the US and all over most other continents every day.... unisex restrooms.

But defining yourself as "normal" because you want to pee in a restroom with people the same sex as you when millions (billions?) of people throughout the world are sharing restrooms with people of the opposite sex... now that is a problem.
