Wait...wait.

Did you just miss the part where I explained to you that socialism is not "authoritarianism"? And yet you're still demanding that it is? See, that's the problem.

You won't even give it a chance. We're dumb, and dependent, and irresponsible, and want to take away all your freedoms. Right?

So - why is it that you don't understand that "socialism" does not take away your freedom? What "freedoms" will you lose?
Oh, that's right. None. Except to gloat while others suffer. You might lose that freedom. "Schadenfreude" - the GOP pastime of the 21st century?

Yeah, you might lose that freedom to be a self-absorbed, callous, greedy jerk. Oh well, you'll just need to find another way to entertain yourself.
If telling lies and spreading disinfo about socialism eventually gets wearisome.

Well, I'm 47. My kids are 18 and 14.

I'll be around to pay the bills your generation kicked down the road because you kept backing ideas and policies that made your life easier, at the expense of everyone who came after you.

Maybe we will build a monument to you after your gone? Something in stone, so we never forget what tried to kill us.

Your opinions maybe, but not your facts. Facts are facts regardless of what you want them to say. And factually Socialism isn't authoritarian. Especially the Democratic Socialism practiced in this country.

See?

Already it's working. It's all my fault.

You're already a victim, and you've already found someone to blame.

Convenient.

You are certainly entitled to your own opinions. You are not entitled to YOUR OWN FACTS.
Sheesh, that's such an elementary thing to have to point out.

You can pretend that freckled people are the cause of skin cancer, too - but that doesn't make it true.

I can change the definition of dog poop to chocolate syrup.

But it still won't taste good when you put it on ice cream.

I'm just an observer now. I've got 6 decades of life to put it in context is all.

Great. Thanks for the cliche that says exactly what I just said.

Yeah? Six decades? Me, too!!! Funny how our absorption rate of facts is so unequal. I do find it strange however, that someone who is a "cohort" of mine can be so dazzlingly stubborn and outspoken with nonsensical lies.

You should really know better. But since you don't - well, no need to stick around. We'll never get along.

Unless you mean that people being free to die on the streets of starvation or from untreated illnesses is a good thing.

And yet Capitalism has brought more people out of poverty than any other system. Lets ask Venezuela how Socialism is working out. Ohhhh I know what you'll say...That's not real Socialism though!!11!1!

Do you drive on the highways? Did you go to public school? Who will you call if you are mugged, or your house catches fire?

All of that minus the schools (because lets face it they aren't working) are good things, and not unique to Socialism. Its a cheap appeal at best.

Freedom to not give a rip about anyone else? Yeah, maybe socialism doesn't allow for that, you're right. The term for that is selfish prick, though. And it's decidedly not socialism.

In my experiences, people are far more giving when being charitable isn't forced on them. Very strange concept right?

Have you ever thought that you might be wrong?

I know I have, I'm far from perfect.

But have you ever thought that the ideologies you endorse might be wrong, that you might be completely wrong?

Yes, I've thought I might be wrong.
And then I listened to those who said I was wrong. I looked up all those "naysayers", and managed to get through their arguments. To even watch them and hear them. And it turned out they are wrong.

So - thanks for checking, though. I make a habit of doing that every day, actually. Do you?
Do you EVER?

Or do you just troll with fly-by two-line insults? When was the last thoughtful thread you composed? Oh right - you're just an 'observer.' Who's wrong.

If my being right was based on what others thought of me, I'd never be right.

But everyone learns differently, I suppose.

You are wrong about socialism. Can't stomach that fact?

Oh well. It's on you at this point. You could know more about it if you so chose.
Not our fault that you refuse. It's yours. And it's your fault that you continue to lie and spread insulting disinfo, with so little to back you up.

Maybe you're wrong on socialism, and I know you won't entertain that.

And I have history to back me up.

So do I. You aren't intimidating me, and you won't get us to shut up just by being insulting.

You are wrong about democratic socialism. And no, you don't have "history" to back you up. The democratic socialist nations who offer education and health care as universal "rights" back us up. And, in case you were unaware, the
'single payer health care' that Canada enjoys was actually started as an experiment in one province.

Now that experiment ("pilot program") has national ramifications for Canadians.
Likewise, I'm living in an experiment of Ultra-Right-Wing 'conservatism' called "Kansas" - a "pilot program" that is spectacularly failing.

Have you heard of Kansas? We're in the middle of the map. Our governor is an idiot. Everyone knows it. It's all over the news nearly daily. He tried your ideas. They have failed.

Okay! So, well, this was fun.
My aim with this thread was, after all, to get all of you on the attack, and have your silent partners star your posts - putting me and those like me on the defensive again.....

so
very
tedious.

Facts are facts. Highways and LEOs, first-responders and schools, food stamps and public housing - all are socialist programs.
They are socialism in practice.

/sigh

Carry on.

Hmmm

It's not only possible, it's essential. If we found a way to bail out the crooks on Wall Street who crashed the economy through waste, fraud and abuse, we can certainly find a way to help students who are some of the chief victims of that crash. We bailed out Wall Street to the tune of $17 trillion when you include the no-interest loans and the straight-up bailouts they received. The good news is that student debt is tiny by comparison: only $1.3 trillion.

She misses the point that all those loans to "Wall Street" etc were paid back.

She fails to offer a simple solution to the Student Debt problem.

And then slides into a assumptive claim that $1.3 trillion is small.
