Origins Writing Contest! [ORI2016] **Winners Announced**

Hello writers!

This month's contest theme, chosen by Gordi The Drummer will be....

ORIGINS

In the member's own words:

The origins of Man, or the origins of Life on Earth, Life In our Galaxy or Life in general! - How did it all begin?


Rules Of Entry

The contest will run from Sat 13/02/16 to Sunday 15/03/16 at Midnight. Any submissions after that date will be disqualified. A period of voting after the closing of the contest will also be provided.

6 days of voting.

All T&C's Apply

All entries MUST include [ORI2016] in the title.

All entries must be linked in this thread. You must include [writer] / [non-writer] in your submission post within this thread.

There is no minimum or maximum character count.

1 Single Submission Per Member

There will be 3 winners among members who already have "Writer" status. They will be judged separately from all other entries based on stars and flags received.

1st Place -- 5 Applause, and selection of the next contest theme
2nd Place -- 3 Applause
3rd Place -- 1 Applause

There will also be 3 winners from the non-writer category who will receive the following:

1st Place -- 3 Applause & Writer Status
2nd Place -- 2 Applause & Writer Status
3rd Place -- 2 Applause

Scoring

Flags will be worth 2 points each.
Stars will be worth 1 point each.

*Stars for subsequent posts (ie. additions to the story) will be worth .5 stars.

Sounds fun!

What if someone works on a vernacular translation of an existing text corresponding to your call, of which other English translations of translations are widely available already, albeit censored, inveigled and obfuscated by all sorts of editors?

What if someone had invested much in that effort and submitted it for publication on the website you moderate in exchange for say, a permanent seven million point way above top secret score rather than applause and title, leaving the original six winners their rightful prize?

It would need to be an original short story, written by the member who submits it in order to be a part of the contest.

Hi tenth. I started an Origins tale but was wondering if We can submit a previuosly written Story?
I have one that would probably fit the bill for this contest.
I would probably add some to it, make a few changes, etc...

I had a question I didn't see anywhere...

What if you submit a story, then a week later want to add to it. Is that allowed or would that be considered two versions, as in two entries? Wait, now that I think about it, that probably wouldn't work. What if someone gave a s&f and then didn't like it as much after you changed it? All the same, is there an official policy on that?

Hi vroom,
You are indeed allowed two or more posts for the one story entry.
They can be a week apart if you like (so long as it still falls within the dates of the contest!)
BUT - you only get half points for stars on additional story posts.
