I would rather just pay my taxes to shut the poor up than wake up to a mob of those same poor dragging me out my house to put me a against a wall to shoot me and takeing all my stuff by force.

In other words better to just give them 20% of my stuff and being allowed to keep 80% than trying to keep 100% of my stuff and being killed for it.

Remember I am outnumbered 99 to 1.

You may be lucky.

The future could be bright or very very bleak.

75% of people in the western would will likely find themselves unable to find jobs within the next 50-100 years.

So unless we find a way to give them "jobs" or feed them then society is heading for a catastrophe.

Thing is the food and resources will be there to feed and support them, they just wont have the jobs and/money to buy them.
Thats a recipe for revolution in the nasty Lenin sort of way.
Its one thing to suffer in povert and starve when there truely is a shortage but people dont tend to take it well when they are suffering when really the food and resources are there in abundance.

I just hope if you had kids you got them trained/educated in science /medicine / law/engineering /robotics /computer sciences otherwise they will likely find themselves unable to find employment and amoung those desperate masses.

No we shouldn't punish business.
Hell id lower or abolish corporation tax if I could.


But we need to look beyond our current economic model.

Our current economic model based around fiat currency may no WILL become obsolete.
All it will take is a breakthrough with fusion (which is going to happen within the next 5 years if you believe lockheed) or a push into space mineing and everything our current model is based around becomes useless.

So we need to start looking at new economic models. Now whether capitalism survives or gets stronger in the next generation of economics I have no idea. Im just a biologist not a sociologists
