Detroit mom killed while on the way to pick son up from basketball practice

Garner managed to drive the few blocks to the bus stop where her son and other parents gathered for pickup after basketball practice. It was a fellow parent who dialed 911 after Garner signaled for help.

"She couldn't speak. Blood was coming out of her ears...she was spitting up blood," the unidentified parent told CNN affiliate WXYZ.

Garner was taken to a hospital where she died from her wound.

Police have arrested Ralph Anthony Marshall, 17, in the case. He's been charged with felony murder, felony possession of a firearm and attempted carjacking.

Is there such a thing as an opinion on this? The love this woman had for her child, i believe, kept her alive long enough to reach him. A powerful, sad, enraging, heart rending, final act of character that not everyone possesses, or can learn. I cannot imagine i would think of anything else but my son either. Please let someone you care about, know how you feel, because death stalks incessantly, and he looks for you.

Terrible tragedy for her and her family. Condolences to them.

It's really sad when 17 year old kids resort to this kind of violence when they have no direction or authority in their lives.

A 17 year old hood rat with a gun.

Now all the talk of gun legislation wouldn't stop this kid from carrying a gun. I think something that would help is mandatory life in prison if caught carrying an illegal gun.

Mandatory life. They did it for 600 oz of weed i believe.

Anyone that intentionally inflicts fatal injury on another person outside of self defense should be subject to the full repercussions of law.

This woman was trying to be a responsible parent and keep her own kids out of trouble. She was gunned down by a renegade punk with no human empathy. The goofy bastard should be chained in a dungeon for the rest of his natural life.

I know that that's not the PC thing to say but I don't give a damn anymore.

That actually doesn't hurt as much as you think, but it does hurt.

I should know, I got 8 teeth extracted without anesthetic because the infection was so widespread, luckily the rest got the freezing.

This is an act of evil; an evil that has been slowly creeping its way out of the shadows. It's soul purpose is just that.
