If Trump would run as an Independent, he would only need 35% of the country to vote for him to win.

Does anyone else remember what Ross Perot almost/could have pulled off back in 1992?

I think it may be possible. With the way life is like now, with people like Kim Kardashian becoming famous for being controversial and or having no talent?

How about a president for the same reasons?

If there is a setup in the making.

It's Trump going Independent.

He would never win The Electoral College.

Then it could get ugly.

I think a lot of us are thinking that he certainly could not do worse than what we've had and right now that is all it takes to win it.

We've seen the same scenario over and over. When a president sucks so bad that ANYONE looks good as an alternative... That opens the doors for all kinds of issues to arise.

Really?

He is much better than hitlery Clinton.

Much better jeb bush.

Actually runs a viable entity, and can't be bought.

Once you have that much money..... You really don't need a high paying job given to you after leaving office.

So lobbying doesn't work on him.

That is the best credentials of any candidate so far.

I am one to think he will win. We need a POTUS that is NOT a career politician to be President. I believe a good business man or woman with a lot of business experience would be better than a career politician.

The scenario could be this:

If nobody wins the majority (270) of Electoral College votes, then the President is then elected by The House of Representatives.

Trump could take away enough to prevent a 270 electoral college vote.

Trump is not going to win. He's just this months political flavor and that's it. He's not a serious contender. He knows this, the media knows this, even he's rabid supporters (who will all say they like what he's saying but won't actually vote for him come election time) know it. Right now he's giving the fringe right wing of the GOP what they want to hear and that's it. He'll be gone again and we'll move onto the next thing. Really now.

He's a clown, that's it.

Are you serious? You really think lobbyist and big Biz can't get to him? He's a greedy bastard, of course they can and will buy him. Hillary sucks, and I'm not going to vote for her or any republican, let alone vote for Trump. The only democrat that has my attention is Sanders.

You're delusional if you believe Trump can't be bought.

Anyone can be bought. A business person would do much better than another idiot politician with no experience of running anything other than their mouth. I would love to see Trump pick Monica Lewinsky as his running partner or as his campaign manager, always there in Hillary's face, waving, smiling, muhahaha!

does Trumps recent comment about Mccain not being a hero because he was captured not hurt his chances greatly?

Just because he has a lot of money, billions, doesn;t mean he can;t be bought. He has been in bankruptcy 4x. I would take Jeb bush over Trump. I would take Hillary over trump. I might even take Lindsay Graham over Trump. I would take take you over Trump. Please start a superpac and get going.
If you think Trump has a shot.

Want to insure a win by the democrats....a third party bid by Trump would do it. Just like Ross Perot did to the GOP and got Clinton elected. The democrats are loving watching Trump tear the GOP apart.

The Republicans were doing a pretty good job of luring some of the conservative Hispanics back in to the GOP. Trump trashed that for them.

Women see Trump as a clown and now without some of the minority vote, Trump is doing the conservative cause more harm than good.

Yeah, his popularity right now reminds me of the Herman Cain train with the "Nine, nine... nine" platform. It worked for a bit until people started seeing him for what he was: a business man and not a leader for society.

Lol!
What yuh shudda said, "Could it get any worser" as they say round these parts. What's going to happen if he does get in? What's going to happen if he has a falling out with some entity, ban them from his gerlf course?

Anyway, I don't see the OP's logic of what happens if someone with "No talent" gets in, that has already occurred back a while, the same guy is now a painter, who implores people not to think that he has a talent for painting???

Trump has support from only 18% of the GOP. That vote is split 16 ways with 15 candidates who hate Trump and when they drop out with throw support to Bush most likely. That ends Trump in the GOP. At the national level Trump comes in dead last. And not just last but, a huge margin below anybody else. So an at the independent level he might pull 3 to 5% of the vote. The GOP is extremely unlikely to have a chance at the White House as is. Because they have to pretend Bush's 8 years never existed and do not want to people remembering they now have more jobs, more health care and more peace. So it is an up hill battle to start. Trump taking away a small bit of that is unlikely to make or break things unless things get much closer then expected do to some unforeseen event.
