OK, why is our Intel always 2 to 3 months for one? Why does Obama feel so sure that allowing Iran to do whatever it wants is the right way to go?

If he feels that way, why doesn't he just make his case instead of lying about it? The lie makes me think he either isn't so sure or has something in mind that he knows most people would never stand for but he doesn't care.

I don't know why this is so hard for people to understand. If they decide to go for it, it's 2-3 months to get it done. They can get into a holding pattern for 10 years without making their move, that doesn't mean 10 years prior they were not 2 months away, they were.

It also doesn't mean they will have a bomb in 2 months. It means from the moment they make their move, we only have 2-3 months to learn of it and stop it.

This thread from yesterday seems to suggest that the American public has finally clicked that having a gun does make you safer from a criminal element...

So, in theory, and based upon this evidently very popular premise - Iran having a nuclear weapon will make them safer from their perceived criminal element

And they perceive Israel and the US as criminal elements.

After all - the history books record that the USA nuked Japan TWICE.....because they did not surrender fast enough.

Becaaause… Iran hasn't done anything wrong?

Give it a rest.

OK, here's the rub. You have a country that constantly threatens the existence of another country, one that is about 9 miles across at one point, also claiming it has every right to develop whatever it wants with nukes.

In this case, the first sign of it doing something wrong could be near genocidal and a further catastrophe to the peoples in the neighboring countries.

But OK ...

Doesn't Israel have nukes? Aren't they constantly trying to wipe Gaza off the map? Pot kettle etc?

Israel wants Iran to be invaded, badly. They have for many years and will utilise any form of propaganda to make it a reality. Obama has been a thorn in the side of Israel's plans and he should be commended, not condemned, for preventing another unnecessary war.

And here he was upset because we can watch Fox news, but he can't watch news in his own country unless the government shows it. Fox News is not government owned, see the difference? CNN is not government owned, another difference. Why do you think Fox News and CNN say the same story differently? Because they are allowed to.

That is pretty much true for all of us living in the western world. The key is to be intelligent and aware of these going ons in order to not become manipulated mindless sheep. All those news media you listed may be privately owned but not privately operated...

Here is small example to show how ironic your words highlighted above are.

Watch and see how many media news reports are told what to report-right down to the wording used.
Keep this in mind when watching ANY mainstream news "reporting".

Have you ever heard of Edward Bernays? He was listed as one of the 100 most influential Americans of the 20th century.

Under modern conditions of political advertising and manipulation, it has become possible to talk of the engineering of consent by an elite of experts and professional politicians. Consent that is thus engineered is difficult to distinguish in any fundamental way from the consent that supports modern totalitarian governments. Were the manipulated voter to become the normal voter, the government he supports could hardly be said to rest on his consent in any traditional sense of that word.

en.wikipedia.org...

He felt this manipulation was necessary in society, which he regarded as irrational and dangerous as a result of the "herd instinct" that Trotter had described.

Based on your post in this thread your views have been engineered. You believe what you are taught to believe.

I believe those who are well informed have had enough. Those who truly want peace in this world will attempt to understand matters with critical thought instead of being spoon fed geo-political talking points by mass media.

I'm Canadian and all are very welcome and celebrated here in our diverse multicultural city.

God damn it why does this topic have to come up every few weeks. The day I see some proof that Iran is trying to build a nuke is the day I might take the Iranian threat more seriously. And no the fact they are refining uranium for nuclear reactors is not proof. All nations deserve access to nuclear energy. Clearly the OP and other fabulous members such as "WarminIndy" have ulterior motives here. You guys couldn't be any more transparent if you tried. Your hypocrisy and avoidance of facts makes it obvious that you are here to push a highly skewed version of reality. Either that or you are so oblivious to reality that you actually believe in your own nonsensical crap.

If you built a nuke, you are supposed to test it ASAP in the middle of the desert, otherwise, how will you know if it works???? More so if this is the first time you built one.

However, nuke testing is quite obvious and even underground tests could easily be detected by US spy satellites which are obviously trained 24/7 on Iran.

Israel might also be able to seismologically detect such testing.

Since we don't hear anything on Iran nuke tests, either they don't have it yet (nor planning to) or they have conducted it already but kept secret from us.

Israeli months go on for years. They are kind of like "New York minutes". They're interminable, but every bit as exciting and urgent.

It is really important to have nukes. Without nukes, the Ukraine, Pakistan, India and Israel would be troubled places. Uh, forget that. Take North Korea as an example. Without nukes North Korea would have become a hell hole like South Korea long ago and not be the paradise that it is.

Bottom line, if you are a really, really, stupid jackass, nukes are the way to go.

Nukes had one period of historical relevancy. WW2. After that finished they should have been scrapped completely, but they were a legitimate deterrent to the military ambitions of the world communist movement. Unfortunately they became a poison pill when adopted by the communists, who were forced to spend too much money keeping up with the Americans in the arms race that was the main feature of the "Cold War". Both nuclear powers suffered from the arms race. American society became completely warped by it, into the proto fascist, proto totalitarian, dumbed down, Huxleyesque carnival of the grotesque that it currently is, not that there is anything wrong with that. The Soviet Union went bankrupt.

I don't think Iran is that stupid. A lot of countries could have nukes if they wanted them, but they are not that stupid.

Israel can make a convincing case for having nukes, the Samson strategy, the argument from spite: "If they take us down we will take 'em all down."

That is also the principle argument that convinces one that nobody else will bother acquiring nukes.

What would be the point? That's the "post Soviet" argument, "Keep your nukes that you can't use, we are going to spend money enriching our society. We can't afford nukes, but by threatening you every six months, our brilliant military planners make sure that you continue to spend money preparing for a war that your brilliant right wingers have ensured will never happen."

WHY does Israel want Iran invaded?

Don't give the lame excuse of nukes, because Israel has more then enough.

Did obama lie or douse not he trust certain parts of the intelegence community. Would not obama have several souces of intelligence to make his own mind up. It is not logical that a country can be 2 to3 months away from building a bomb that it still has not built years latter. According to these sources Iran must have at least a dozen bombs by now, but in reality they are not looking for nuclear bombs. How can this be. Their was once a story call the boy who cried wolf should not the story be Netanyahu who cried nuclear bomb (the mural of the story is with many LIES told by this man how can anybody really take him seriously) The fact that obama did not tell the American public may have something to do with the fact that he did not believe some of the warmongers in the inteligence community or the warmongers that lead Isreal.
How can a country that repeatedly ignores U.N resolutions and jails whistleblowers about their own nuclear weapons programmes think that is alright for them to have nuclear weapons but not their adversaries such as Iran. One day a country like Iran will develope a weapon that allows them to turn on and detinate nuclear weapon in their silos or just after they take off. This would suddenly make these horrible weapon obsolete and dangerous to have.

Israeli policy, bombing Syria and Lebanon and trying to sucker the US into bombing or at least sanctioning an attack on Iran, makes sense to me (leaving the obvious Hezbollah issues aside) as an effort to force the Iranians to acquire their own arsenal of unusable nuclear weapons and the all important expense of maintaining them.

This stems from the Soviet experience, surely. Looking back, the Russians would see that they would have been much further ahead if they hadn't taken the "nuclear bait", as it were, and had simply spent their money strengthening their society in other ways.

The real threat to Israel, now, is not military, but economic. In that, there is a concurrence of interests with the United States, who, as we have seen in the cases of Iraq and Libya, cannot tolerate the growth of prosperity and the independence that goes with it, in the Arab/Persian world.

Netanyahu, by threatening military action against Iran, is attempting to even the economic playing field on the national debit side (military costs), while also making a case that Israel's nuclear policy, possession of nuclear warheads, has been justified, since it has forced Iran, soviet style, into a costly arms race.

It is not enough to possess a deterrent to being overrun. That is only the first step. The ones threatening to overrun must be lured into an arms race that will maintain an even economic playing field.

That is the real Israeli policy, I think.

The most pernicious thing that ever happened to hurt Israeli policy, as put forward by the Israeli right, was the fatwa issued years ago by one of the Iranian mullahs, against developing nuclear weapons. This was a serious blow to the Israeli right. Fortunately for them the fatwa was rescinded at a later date. I'm not sure if it has been reinstated, as President Obama has said.

I'm from the UK and I find the anti Obama stuff OTT (I suspect more than just republican-democrat issues !!). But even I can see how ridiculous this thread is. Here is sentence one quoted by the OP:

"The Barack Obama administration has estimated for years that Iran was at most three months away from enriching enough nuclear fuel for an atomic bomb."

DUH, DUH, DUH.....a never ending three months!!!!

If Netanyahu do not want Iranian to make nukes, why not act like leader and allow theirs nukes to be destroyed also amongst any other WMDs. That would show their neighbors that there is no need for such WMDs in the area and would open whole new ways to grow instead always having to find another reason to fight someone to grow.

Blah, blah, blah.

The Zionist controlled media has been saying since 2003 that Iran is only a couple of years away from having nuclear weapons.

My question to these Zionists is WHERE ARE THEY.

More BS to try and de-stabilise the middle east. The goal here is to drum up public support for an invasion so the Zionist elites can get there hands on more oil.

We've seen all this crap before, it's about time people woke up and became capable of self thought at the same time.
