Extremely unlikely! In light of the cut backs in US and other NATO countries defence budget and the active climate of 1930's style appeasement the opposite is unfolding. The invasion of the Ukraine is Russia Condor Legion. They are testing out weapons platforms and tactics for the coming war against NATO.

For many Russians the Soviet Union represents the good old days. The same goes for a lack of supply and choice in consumer goods. The Russian mentality is authoritarian not unlike the Culture of Germany from the time of Bismarck to the end of WW2.

I'm just taking in what I hear and to me test and review are basically the same thing, he is moving troops on the west harbours. And Defcon3 with Canadian involvement. What if?
Maybe there was an attempt, a hidden provocation to lure him in, on a front where Europe and US both can strike. Would be a beauiful trap. Risky but finally cards on the table and cut the crap. This is why he was hiding. And the UK rooting failure would have been to say: Dude look at my huge thing. So he wents over the heads of the middle-lands and strikes overseas where his biggest opponent sits. Just specualting trying to connect the dots.

Sorry bad use of the quote button - it was aimed at others not you on the definition of mobilisation. One source say mobilise, one say redeploy, one says check the readiness, another says test the readiness, another say this.....

What did Putin order......

Well looks like he is late for his latest meeting. Whats the betting the K........stan president says he met him!

Where is Minot AFB?

North Dakota.. it's a nuclear missile/bomber base.

ETA: Not trying to cause alarm. They go on alert waaay before shtf.

But it wouldnt be much of a deterrent if media reported the recall of 20 bomber crews and the take off of 20 B-2 Spirits...

Or would it?? Ctually it might :-)

it could also be a sign of an increased Us military posture based on what could be occurring in Russia.

If anyone has contacts in any other nations military and can ask see what they are saying.

I can safely say I would not be making a post, with a glass of 15 YO Whisky beside my keyboard, if this were the case.

That's just it though.. You have a new generation of Russian citizens who were born under the new days and not the old days. Secondly unless you were in the upper military or intelligence there were no "good old days of the Soviet union". you had bread lines and a 10 year wait to buy a car.

That's why I think Putin is out of touch when he behaves like its the 1980's and he is head of the USSR and not the Russian federation. Its why I was wondering if maybe his advisors are finally seeing the road he is on and started looking for an exit ramp.

if they tried to resign en mass I could see them smiling for muzzle flashes.

And oil prices look like they're going to drop again.

Making Putin go away is good for Russia.

Still not placing any bets ATM.

I agree on Putin being bad for Russia. Sadly we need the Russians to realize this....

As for the last part I agree.. its all speculation and until someone over there talks, all we have is speculation.

Great thread. Been following since I woke up. I'm an American living in Finland and I attend full time language courses with a lot of Russian and Ukrainan people. I asked them all this morning where Putin is and what they think is going on. Weirdly they all seem totally unconcerned and they all said he has the flu. Seems too simple an explanation to me. something else has to be going on.

So now it's a wait for the Crimea event on Wednesday? Didn't somebody say before that the plane already landed? So he found out Putin wouldn't meet him when he got to the receptionist? Hmm.

I saw a believable poll a couple of days ago. 80+% of Russians oppose the US. Not good odds we're going to see someone better than Putin replace him (if there's been a coup). US policy goes against Russia (if there was one) as well.

I think it is about meeting that was postponed last week, the one that raised first alarms. Today's meeting is in St. Petersburg. Now if Putin doesn't show there, plot will get really thick.

After reading almost this entire thread, I'm still wondering where PUTIN IS!

We are about to find out.

He will be on the news within 30 minutes, what time is his meeting with Kazakhstan.

Is this planned to be aired live, in 30 minutes? My only concern is the possibility of pre-recorded footage being released. Russian state media released reports about this meeting before it even happened... so I hope that whatever is aired, can be confirmed as live footage.

This being ATS even if it is confirmed as real no doubt there will be someone calling it fake. They won't believe he is alive until he judo kicks in their front door and rides a bear into their living room.

Thank you for the visual in the opposite direction of Obama.
He .GIF kicks in the door, walks to the podium-- and the press
secretary says loudly "He's alive." Good. I can go back to sleep
for a couple hours until the birds are fueled up. YAWN

To me that clinches it..

something is occurring with Putin..

I am wondering if Putin is dead, if they will tell the truth or try pulling a "weekend at Bernie's" Vladimir style..

it also suggests his advisors / press people are out of the loop or being tightly controlled. in the last 15 years he has been in power has his media affairs people ever been this disorganized, unknowledgeable and this incompetent? they are working without a script now and its showing.

the snap drills are ordered and an hour later they cancel his meetings.

Here is what gnaws at me

Why should someone like you have my trust when your views so often coincide with views of US government and western mainstream media
