I have had it with people profiting from doom porn and making a business out of it

I used to be a conspiracy nut a few years back, probably because of some of these guys looking to draw people into their articles and Youtube channels because of some crazy phenomena going on... While I like getting informed on what's going on outside the MSM, I feel like I cannot trust any source anymore when it comes to getting reliable new source. Even ATS is not immune to these marketing techniques, though the flag system helps to signify what is newsworthy or making a good read.

I'm starting to think this whole 2012 thing, comet ISON, HAARP, Nibiru, WW3 (list goes on) doom porn was being used by many people to push their own agendas (and bank accounts), generating loads of landing pages for users looking for "information" and ending up getting caught in the web of the doom porn industry.

I have just seen one Youtube video about "INCREDIBLE FIREBALLS FROM THE SKY!", which mostly looked like chemtrails to me. I'm not sure of what it was, I don't want to post that video or mention any names here either cause I doubt this channel with its 100,000 subscribers is considered a reliable source for anything. Perhaps i'm misjudging him but this is a phenomena i'm seeing more and more recently, of sci-fi CGI channels with a crazy nut leading everyone to believe that "the end is near". No it's not, the end is not near and there are tons of Youtube channels looking to profit from the same traffic of doom porn seekers.

I'm not saying none of what being posted is true, I still believe there are many, many hidden truths but it's just so damn hard to trust, let alone question what you come across with these days on the web. I remember the good 'ol days of the internet when it was about being informed of what the MSM didn't talked about, now I believe some of these sources are even worse than the MSM, spreading darkness at the speed of light even at a greater velocity. Am I conspiring against those who are already conspiring? I think I need to lay down lol... but this had to be said. I'm all in for conspiracies and I believe they contain more truth than so called "reality", it's just so hard to take our pick now of what's true and what's not.

That's is why they call it doom PORN.

It's just cheap entertainment, but sometimes the weirdness of these subjects are interesting to read. It opens up a new way to look at the world and our destruction/rape of it. I personally love mysteries and without the PORN part it's just DOOM and nobody like doom, unless it's a video game.

Right on. Well I meant doom porn because it's an easy way to generalize all the "look at these clouds/UFOs/all other strange phenomena here". The term just got stuck in my mind too deeply.

I could not agree more brother! I was the same as you a few years back, I used get sucked into conspiracy theories and Doom porn very easily and thought I was more informed because I would use sources outside MSM. Until I realized even those sources are not invincible to hidden agendas and money making plots. Now I just read a doom story out of pure entertainment rather than actual belief. Sadly my friend still gets sucked into these conspiracies to easily no matter how many times they turn out to be false. He even believes in reptilians but I think that is because he is naive and doesn't have a very good grasp on how our world works. He does not watch or read ANY news, he will just watch a youtube video and be blown away and preach it to me, he is quite frankly an idiot and it is his type that these people are profiting off of.

Second & third sources of the original "doom porn" will keep you from losing your marbles. Can't count the times I've googled more sources of info only to inevitably find out someone was spinning info for an agenda.

About the only good thing resulting from the doom-porn industry is the amount of panic sex required!!

Surprisingly it always gets us in our evolution, that we believe we have reached a certain level of BS detecting or seeing higher aspects of reality, while we have reached a foggy mountaintop believing that is the highest one around.

I believe there's still a lot of truth in conspiracies, obviously a lot of us are here for it lol.. Like AnteBellum said, it sure brings up the mystery which is so dearly missed on our mediocre planet.

But seeing the mass of conspiracy junk being created nowadays is just too much, definitely for entertainment purposes.
Wish it was easier to distinguish between true or false, it takes a lot of work to find out real truth in this landfill of propaganda.

Fear is an outstanding marketing tool.

It doesn't matter if you're selling a product, an idea, or an ego-if people are willing to buy the fear then there is an opportunity to sell them hope as well-It's moral profiteering.
