Army wives urge Russia to come clean on soldiers in Ukraine

Several dozen women gathered outside a military base in central Russia on Thursday to demand that commanders come clean about the whereabouts of their husbands after reports of secret funerals for soldiers covertly sent to Ukraine.

The women -- mostly in their 20s, a few with small children -- huddled outside a base that houses paratroopers in Kostroma, around 300 kilometres (200 miles) north of Moscow

Some 350 soldiers from the city were this month sent on military drills to the border with Ukraine and then went incommunicado, said one of the women, 26-year-old Valeria Sokolova.

Commanders from the base have told her several have returned dead, she said, and around 15 wounded soldiers were also flown back this week.

military commanders refused to confirm that their loved ones had been sent to Ukraine, Sokolova said. They were told they could not hold a formal demonstration and should go home.

Olga Garina, the mother of one of several Kostroma paratroopers captured by Ukrainian forces, is one of the lucky few to have gotten some answers.

After days of silence and heartache after he went off the radar, her 20-year-old son Yegor Pochtoyev called her mobile phone suddenly from Kiev, where he is being held by authorities.

She happened to receive the call while sat with a group of journalists including AFP in the office of a local rights group that campaigns against abuses in the armed forces.

[Russian] Army wives urge Russia to come clean on soldiers in Ukraine

350 Russian soldiers deployed from this one town alone?

Secret Funerals?...And they tell the wives they are not allowed to gather and to go home?

Had to check RT News to see what they had on the story...ZIP...just this on their frontpage: "No proof given for Western allegations about Russian troops in Ukraine "

How long before they start to threaten and arrest these Russian widows for asking questions about their husbands deaths?

For all those Putin fans, backing the propaganda that Russian Troops aren't there...at what point does your conscience kick in?

In other news...Ukriane Military reporting columns of Russian tanks rolling into Ukraine, Russian Paramilitary Unit captured 30 miles inside border, Rebel leader in Ukraine acknowledges that there are as many as 3500 Russian troops fighting with the rebels, but says they are "on leave" from Russian military service? The Russian convoy of aid had 34 trucks that left the convoy for parts unknown..

If Russia has fair claim to Ukraine, why is Putin lying about the thousands of soldiers and equipment he has sent into Ukraine?

Are secret funerals and telling these wives to go home acceptable?

I am interested in how the Russia supporters here on ATS view these revelations?

Not taking sides but this is still not proof.

Very easy to plant a picture, story and use as propaganda.

"An Anonymous Source States..."

If true...ok. No surprise.

If propaganda...Brilliant. No Govt. or military statements...Just the concerns of innocent housewives fearing for their hubby who is missing and his children left at home. Kinda grabs the heart strings right? Also no surprise.

We will never know until it all comes Down IMO.

Peace

For the love of God!...One of the women there was the Mother of one of the captured Russian soldiers in Ukraine...who Putin has now acknowledged...Identified publicly. And she got the call from her son while surrounded by MULTIPLE press outlets...

at some point you need to acknowledge the earth is not flat.

No...it is not MSM propaganda...Research if you need to.

Then tell these women that they haven't lost there loved ones without any answers and put themselves at risk speaking out that they are just actresses!

Prove it.

See, Putin is playing the game we (U.S.) have been playing, it's all "proxy wars" these days. If we're going to call out Putin for it, we would have to be absolute hypocrites to not include Obama/U.S/EU, much less pretend that they weren't involved in Ukraine to begin with (much like Libya, Egypt, Syria, etc, etc, etc..)

Until then, I'm ignoring all of this "Russians in Ukraine" talk.

Proof?

The lack of the typical pro Russian crowd posting in this thread is proof enough.

So, how can you know they are NOT actresses? The West has used this tactic countless times to start wars.

Quite simply...How can you know? You can't.

I see women near a wall, a woman on the phone talking to who? And another with her face covered.

Sorry, not proof at all. Not saying it isn't true but I also have fallen for a few "Just in time" photos in the news in the past.

Not anymore.

The massive failure in that thinking is the premise that Pres. Obama and the USA isn't called out every day on their missteps???

Certainly on ATS on a daily basis???

And yet...if it is Putin and Russia...you grant them freedom to lie??

What sense does that make?

Should we not call it where we see it?

And the magnitude of the lie Putin is telling (now to soldiers widows) is on a whole different order.

In the context above, your eagerness to blind yourself seems dishonest...desperately scrambling for some justification to proudly remain blind and ignorant to Putins lies.

Because the women identify themselves? One of which is the mother of the captured Russian Paratrooper that Putin himself has acknowledged and the identity is know?

If it is a lie besmirching Russia, then the Russian Government itself has backed that lie, in identifying the captured paratrooper and his mother who was at the protest and spoke to her son in front of reporters.

No offense, but if you aren't engaging in either research or logic, then you have no business calling anything false.

Not missteps. Blatant lies, deceit. The U.S., sadly, is just as guilty as Putin if not more.

Should we not call it where we see it?
We should, but it's impossible to separate the BS from the truth. There's so much of this BS being thrown around on both sides, I'm not going to take the word of any MSM outlet. It's not like we haven't seen all of them lie in the past.

It's no worse than what the CIA has been doing in the middle east for the past 10 years or current ops in Ukraine, to be honest. I'm not saying Putin should get a free pass, but it's hard to call someone else out when we're guilty of the same damn things.

You just did..right there above..call the USA out....nothing "hard" about it. Your refusal to offer the same scrutiny to Russia tells me everything I need to know.

Thus far the mental gymnastics engaged in to continue the denial have been outstanding!

When was the last time a Judge decided to grant a murderer a free pass, because someone else got away with doing the same thing?

If the whole..well the USA does bad stuff too argument is all you got, then you got nothing. Wrong thread and plenty of threads you can weigh in on here at ATS about the US Govs misdeeds.

The topic is Russian Forces in Ukraine and the endless lies the Russian government have told the world about it...and continue to..

You're right, Russia, the U.S. and EU need to get their noses out of other countries business. But we both know that won't happen.

I don't deny anything. But like I said, when I see the same people always talking about and making threads about Putin's involvement in Ukraine, I find it rather disingenuous to never mention the other side of things.

You are entitled to it.

Russian soldiers are operating in E Ukraine
At this point, considering the level of support the separatists have been getting, there is no denying it anymore imo
One doesn't have to be Pro Russia or 'west ', have physical proof, like it or not, to accept the logical conclusion to the truth.

Such a heart breaking story , something like this one
that turned out to be a complete lie .

Washington Piles Lie Upon Lie
By Paul Craig Roberts

August 29, 2014 "ICH" - The latest Washington lie, this one coming from NATO, is that Russia has invaded Ukraine with 1,000 troops and self-propelled artillery.

How do we know that this is a lie? Is it because we have heard nothing but lies about Russia from NATO, from US ambassador to the UN Samantha Power, from assistant secretary of state Victoria Nuland, from Obama and his entire regime of pathological liars, and from the British, German, and French governments along with the BBC and the entirety of the Western media?

This, of course, is a good reason for knowing that the latest Western propaganda is a lie. Those who are pathological liars don’t suddenly start telling the truth.

But there are even better reasons for understanding that Russia has not invaded Ukraine with 1,000 troops.

One reason is that Putin has invested heavily in diplomacy backed by unprovocative behavior. He would not risk his bet on diplomacy by sending in troops too few in number to have a decisive effect on the outcome.

Another reason is that if Putin decides he has no alternative to sending the Russian military to protect the Russian residents in eastern and southern Ukraine, Putin will send in enough troops to do the job quickly as he did in Georgia when the American and Israeli trained Georgian army invaded South Ossetia and was destroyed in a few hours by the Russian response. If you hear that 100,000 Russian troops accompanied by air cover have invaded Ukraine, it would be a more believable claim.

A third reason is that the Russian military does not need to send troops into Ukraine in order to stop the bombing and artillery shelling of the Russian populations by Washington’s puppet government in Kiev. The Russian air force can easily and quickly destroy the Ukrainian air force and artillery and, thereby, stop the Ukrainian attack on the secessionist provinces.

Give up your tin foil and visit the front line if you are still all conspiratorial about this. The number of loons on this site that demand 'proof' even when faced with the truth is incredulous.

Putin's news outlet RT?..."RT News: Question More"

You are not saying it's false...just saying they might be "actresses"..

I am not saying the earth is flat...Just saying I have never been to space and taken a look...

Propaganda is not just telling lies, it is questioning the truth.

Multiple news agencies attended this protest in RUSSIA...and interviewed the attendees with full names etc.

Do you believe this is a set in Virginia? Do you believe they are actresses hired in Russia? And the Russian government decided to let the hoax slide without a rebuttal? Do you believe the mother of the captured Russian soldier is just pretending to be Olga Garina? Are you not capable of ANSWERING MORE of your own questions rather than "QUESTION MORE"

What RT News does with "Question More" is aim that conspiratorial thinking at strong evidence, whilst not "Questioning more" on the pile of BS they report daily at Putin's direction.

Earth flat........
