If Majority wants it and they vote for it through a referendum then its as legal as it gets , now for those saying the referendum is through a barrel of a gun.. No it isn't...Voting is done in a booth, an enclosed space and hence no body has any clue whom a person voted for , so forcing a person to vote for someone is very stupid.... As for the minorities , too bad .. Nothing really can be done if the majority wants to join.. it would be quiet stupid to upset the majority to please a minority

Than why do they keep denying the UN entry into Crimea? Seems to me if the elections are legitimate they would want UN observers. But see they dont because than the fake vote would be shown to the world.See its not democracy when they are already claiming to know the outcome and the government of Crimea is taking steps already to join Russia. See in a democracy you have to see which way people vote first unless you know the outcome because there is only one choice.

Ukraine will not attempt a military move to prevent the southern Crimean peninsula's breakaway in order not to expose its eastern border, Ukraine's acting president Oleksandr Turchynov told AFP Tuesday in an exclusive interview.

"We cannot launch a military operation in Crimea, as we would expose the eastern border and Ukraine would not be protected," Turchynov said, as Crimea prepares to vote in a referendum Sunday on becoming part of Russia.

Crimea's upcoming referendum is a "sham" whose results will be fixed in Moscow, Turchynov told AFP.

Ukraine cant take on the Russian military if they did troops would run across the border and take the rest of Ukraine. Ukraine needs to play the long game. They will still control all Russian gas shipments to Europe that will be a huge bargaining chip later that Putin isnt counting on. The trick is they cant let him invade the rest of Ukraine under false pretenses. Patients here will hurt Russia in the long run as they turned countries away from Russian influence. Ukraine will have there own gas reserves in a year and shipping it to Europe and shutting down Russian gas supplies.

Or maybe they are fed up with the meddling and the insurrection support? Not that you can blame them after all that the western block has fondled there.

So the UN is supporting insurrection doesnt it get harder to dismiss facts with a straight face after a while? I guess the UN is against Russia and wants it destroyed seems a bit paranoid to me. But thats what Putin has been doing trying to convince Russians that the world hates them and only his wisdom will save them. This tactic is used by every dictator and they always wonder why they end up on their own. And eventually there people have enough and throw them oiut its already starting in Russia hes being accused of cheating people are protesting the Russians will only take so much and this may push them over the edge. There was protests in russia telling Putin to leave Crimea of course they were arrested and thrown in jail.

You may be right. Patience.

Lose Crimea, already a foregone conclusion, wink.

Live with that pincer move, forever. But by all means, protect that eastern front, while the monster builds the nest down south.

Russia uses Crimea as a deal with the autonomous country.
So now they simply amp up their use of the ports there, with an invasion force, and everything is kosher?

Sounds like they've outlived their welcome.

The referendum is the worst part.

A member here said that the worst sort of invasion is the one you don't even realize.

That is what happened to the united states.

I realize that every single shoot that Bolshevism once pummeled, is now going to resharpen it's hatred of it's wicked mother.
On all sides.

Did I say 'hate'?
Oh noes, they tried to make hate illegal as well. Just so no one could 'hate' them. Looks like they're losing ground.

Maybe they'll let us kiss each other, again. Chocolate rations are up....oh boy!
As for me, I will crack open my copy of "When the Kissing had to Stop".

Obama doesn't count. Not even a little bit. After all, who put him there, and controls him. They put each one there, QED.

He is A Puppet. A race card joke so the masters could attempt a race war and more technofascism, which they control, at home.

They like control. Got's to start chaos to get it.

Do not resist. Do not resist.

But Putin, he should have known better. He was given 'more'. He will be accountable for it.

The 'US' just wants in for war money and the MIC, and a chance to spread technofascism a little more than it's own rotten guts.

Putin's going to fry in his own fat for this. Most of us do.

General Dempsey: US ready for military response to Russia if Crimean conflict escalates

This is the first clear sign from the US that they may use military action in the event of further escalation in Crimea but what will they determine as an "escalation"? Also Ukraine believe that Russia are getting ready to launch a full invasion of the country. I think this Sunday will determine which way this bloodless conflict (so far) will go.

I hope what they really meant was ready but not willing. The US entering the fray would escalate things to unnecessary levels.

ETA: I cannot find any other outlets or sources with this info.

Yeah negotiating isnt working so Obama is looking at other options. Even surprisingly trying to bring China in on this you know that went something like this you know where about to put restrictions on Russia and we wont be able to do business with any country that supports Russian businesses once there on that list. With the US exports of over 352 billion and the EU ay 334 billion while they only sell about 40 billion to Russia. As they say money makes the world go around.

The Defense Ministry said units of the 98th Guards Airborne Division, based in Ivanovo, a city east of Moscow, were put on high alert and moved to unspecified locations to “check readiness” in simulated combat conditions.

Four thousand troops, 36 military transport aircraft and an unspecified number of combat vehicles are taking part in the exercises, which will run until March 14.

The drills will include a massive simultaneous paradrop involving 3,500 servicemen, the ministry said.

Yes, he has sent troops to occupy another sovereign nation. This militarism is an aspect of fascism. He is a classic imperialist war monger.

Where you aware Arseniy Yatsenyuk is a ukrainian jew? He later becomes a greek orthodox. Oh they probably dont tell you that in all that fascist talk they promote on RT. Did you know he turned down the prime minister position when offered from former President Yanukovych. He cited corruption in his administrations. He also wanted to bring topics to vote to the people thinking that they had a right to vote like if Russia should have been able to keep a base in Crimea (dont think Putin didnt remeber this part) and wanted people to vote on the Russian gas deal when he ran for president. Hardly sounds like a fascists since they don't want people to vote. I also figured out why the Duma put him in charge hes the only one they could trust to step down if he loses the election coming up.

Whew.. had to read up and see context there. For a moment, that could have fit Presidents in Russia or the United States like a fine glove.

What a world we live in, eh?
