The U.S. government is covering up the growing threat created by Middle Eastern terrorists entering the country through the porous Mexican border, according to a veteran federal agent who assures the area has never been secure.
The U.S. Border Patrol has captured thousands of people who have been classified as OTM (Other Than Mexican) along the 2,000-mile southern border and many are from terrorist nations like Yemen, Iran, Sudan, Somalia and Afghanistan. The feds call them SIAs (Special Interest Aliens) and the government doesn’t want Americans to know about them.
The alarming information has been exposed by a 30-year veteran of the federal immigration system with the help of an Atlanta news station that’s dug deep into the matter and uncovered disturbing evidence. It reveals that actual terrorists have been caught along the border and the government wants to keep Americans “in the dark,” says Michael Cutler who spent three decades working as an agent for Immigration and Naturalization Service before its name changed as part of the post 9/11 reorganization that created the Department of Homeland Security

Back to the OP: IMO, if they are contributing to society by working, etc and not engaging in any illegal or criminal activities then I think they should be granted citizenship. Period
The Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA), Pub.L. 99–603, 100 Stat. 3445, enacted November 6, 1986, also Simpson-Mazzoli Act, is an Act of Congress which reformed United States immigration law. It was an attempt to solve the immigration problem during 1986.
About three million undocumented immigrants were granted legal status through this act.

I'm tired of people saying the US should do things like X country does things.
Such an irrational argument.
Do you want America to be America, or do you want America to be like Mexico, or Sudan, North Korea, or whatever other country? America is unique, which makes it great. Saying it should do things or be like like other countries is a huge fail.

The same could be said about healthcare.
By the logic of the DHS spokesman, why should countries have
citizenship at all?

Yes you are right, people forget that this happen before, yes . . . under the Regan administration and back then the amount of illegal immigrants that were granted amnesty were not as big as the millions we have now.
Sadly all the promises under the amnesty bill of Reagan were never enforced and we are now facing double and more of illegal immigrants once again

And that indicates another hidden "statement" by the DHS ....
He is suggesting the global agenda as well.
These guys are tricky.
In 1994, an amnesty for illegal aliens (Section 245 (i)) was added to the FY 1995 Commerce, Justice, State Appropriations bill. The rolling amnesty ended on September 30, 1997, and resulted in 578,000 illegal aliens being granted permanent legal status.
While it is never reported on, nor spoken of in today’s ongoing debate on illegal immigration, Bill Clinton granted amnesty to at least 3,000,000 illegal aliens and with his actions--undoubtedly encouraged millions more to enter the U.S. illegally.
They proudly talk about how they scam the system like it's nothing, even though they are committing felonies. They just don't care because they know that it is next to impossible for them to get caught, and if they do, they know that they can just get more fake documents, a new name and start all over again.
