Comet ISON, referred to also as C/2012 S1, has arrived in our solar system and here we are in November with little more than a couple of weeks before it travels around the sun and its trajectory brings it to its closest proximity to Earth, and still nothing from the main media outlets on Comet ISON. Oh, phew so it is just another comet. Right?

Wrong.

If you are familiar with consternation coming from observers of the comet’s progress you will be fully aware this is definitely not just another comet. But MSM is certainly not doing attempting to inform the public of this not once in a lifetime but once in several millennia event. Neither is any government attempting to issue warnings of potential problems we should prepare for, or to tell us of preparations they have made to protect us – you know, just in case!

Why is there a real-news blackout on ISON? Scientists as well as amateur observers are now asking why there have been no recent promised HD images of the comet? We all should be asking these questions.
First though, let’s cover a bit of history about ISON. The comet was only recently discovered in late September 2012 in Russia. Then it actually disappeared for a while until astrophysicist Bruce Gary relocated it mid-August of this year. See: solarsystem.nasa.gov...

Interestingly, the comet path seems to align with that of the Great Comet of 1680 (according to National Geographic in September 2012). The Great Comet of 1680 also known as Kirch’s Comet, became the subject of well known paintings and etchings by artists from England, Germany, Holland, and Italy.
See www.jwwerner.com...
It is a mistake to consider ISON and Kirch’s comet to be one and the same. They are clearly different comets because the latter is known to be periodic while the eccentricity of the path of ISON indicates it is not. ISON really is a ‘oncer’ it would seem.

Currently it has traveled past Mars, and very soon it will arrive at perihelion, coming around from the back of the sun to whip past Mercury. On December 26 ISON will be at the closest proximity to Earth with a distance between comet and planet of approximately 64 million km (40 million miles). This though may change due to interaction with the sun. The comet may come closer to Earth or furtherer a way. Things are already getting very interesting right now, firstly because of bizarre oddities about the comet itself, and because of the effect it is already having on our neighbors and us as well.

In the following I present ISON as being not only a unique comet, but also as a once in a several thousand-year event! Moreover, I show that it would appear TPTB are keeping important information about ISON from us! Not only is ISON being kept off the front pages of MSN newspapers and websites – they choose not to run an in-depth story – but there is an incredible amount of effort being devoted into covering up a series of oddities that are virtually screaming out for attention. This thread is about what must be considered as a giant cover up of Comet ISON, something akin to the cover up of the continuing Fukushima Diaichi catastrophe. In fact it just may be that the cover up of both may be for exactly the same underlying reasons. But I will let you make your own minds up about that – or maybe I might say something about that later in the thread.

There is evidence that ISON has already had an affect on both the planet Earth and on Mars. Photographic evidence available on the Internet purports to show Mars now has a coma itself. The Electric Universe theory applied to ISON shows that all visiting comets have an electrical interaction with out star the sun, and most certainly that affects the planet Earth.

Here is the video.

Why we should be concerned about a lack of information and sufficient warnings? Consider the following:
Events on Earth, such as severe weather are not only caused by the activities of humankind, they are also the result of events coming at us from space. Some of these events are able to bring down a country’s entire power grid, and perhaps on a global scale. The Carrington Event of 1859 where CMEs destroyed much of the telegraph system in place at the time. A series of CMEs of that kind can happen again, but this time the affect would be catastrophic given our dependence on technology in pretty much all aspects of our life. ISON is by far the biggest comet to come our way in more than a thousand years.

There is also possibility of direct hits on the Earth’s surface from meteorites like the one exploded over the Russian city of Chelyabinsk in February this year, blasting out windows across a large area, and hitting the ground in fragments. Comets can also hit us just as Shoemakjer-Levy-p hit Jupiter in 1994. While that giant planet has our back mopping up a multitude of ‘loose’ space objects that otherwise would be far more likely to hit us if it did not have such a very large mass, keep in mind that severe impacts from space objects do happen to Earth – the most predominant theory for the extinction of the dinosaurs.

Large space objects passing by our planet will have various planetary effects; severe weather, earthquakes and perhaps even worse. If Comet ISON is the big fella several observers conclude it is based on an analysis of the evidence so far then it will likely bring about changes to our planet that may affect us severely, and perhaps we are already experiencing a taste of these. Should we not be receiving all of the facts, and the appropriate warnings given these potential possibilities? Why are we not?

Why are we getting next to NO NEWS about Comet ISON? Why is the subject of ISON about as popular with MSN as is the radiation threat from the ongoing Fukushima disaster?

Before beginning I want to acknowledge the question I ask has already already been posed to the public on Youtube in a series of videos.

See the following video for why:

In the time since most of those videos were posted on Youtube the question has become ever more pertinent, as clearly, at least in the west, the news blackout continues.

ISON - The comment on the MSM is conspicuous in its absence. The silence is deafening.......but why?

We were talking about this with friends only yesterday. Why no mention of this AT ALL on the BBC or UK news channels?

At the least, a whopping great comet is going to be sitting in the sky for several weeks and no one deems this news worthy.

Bizarre!

Star and flag for your thread as this is a topic a lot of people are talking about and wondering about.

Now why should Comet ISON just a comet, right? Well, no not really. This is where things begin to get odd. Several anomalies about this comet are puzzling observers. Here is a list of a few. A word of warning, it does get weird. But before hand you might want to take a look at what NASA thinks are the features of a comet. Go to the following link.
solarsystem.nasa.gov...

And also go to this link:
solarsystem.nasa.gov...

Now here is that list I have compiled so far of most of these from sources I deem stand out as not likely to be hoaxes.

1. The size of the comet as it was more tha 5.22 AU distant from the sun looked massive with a coma diameter estimated at 50,000 kilometres (to put this in perspective the diameter of Earth is 12,742 km). However a coma does not normally form until the comet is much closer to the sun. The suggestion to be made here is that what was observed was the body not the coma surrounding it, and that the comet must therefore be considered to be truly massive. BTW using Stellarium (an excellent free download) ISON can be found either by entering the acronym into its search or by turning on ‘planet label’. There is no way that a comet can be a planet, they are generally too small, right? Right from the beginning just after its discovery in 2012 observers noted that if the tail was in excess of 180,000 miles long as claimed initially, than the comet body itself must be much bigger than the official estimate of its size.

Images obtained by Spitzer’s Infrared Array Camera indicated that the comet’s tail was about 186,400 miles long. That seems to be a lot of mass lost each day for a small comet. ? 186,400 is the speed of light. This visitor must be bigger than they are trying to say.

SOURCE

2. It is not brightening the way it is expected to do as it approaches the sun. This suggests the comet may not be constituted by ice and dust as expected, but something altogether much more solid.
See the following link.
brucegary.net...

3. The comet should be emitting much more dust than it is at this point in its approach to the sun. Again this suggests it is a solid body rather than a ball of ice and dust.

4. Comet ISONs eccentricity is slightly greater than 1. This means it is unlikely never to return again, although that would not be impossible. No comet before has ever been observed with an eccentricity greater than 1! Its orbit is therefore hyperbolic rather than the typical elliptical trajectory we are used to seeing in comets.

5. Anomalous structures in the comet tail have been observed in technical imagery of the comet.

SOURCE

6. Other objects are coming in with ISON, aside from the anomalies within the tail itself. One of these objects is asteroid Eros 433 on a return trip our way.

Also this NASA link for Eros:
nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov...

Also see this more recent video ‘Ison has a friend’ posted by Seeingatruth:

7. ISON appears to have electrically interacted with Mars, and the planet now seems to have a coma – Mars has gone comet. This coma around Mars was observed between September 24 and October 2nd before the gases it was made up of exploded (SEE IMAGE HERE). If this is true then an electrical interaction between ISON and Mercury on its fly pass should surely also be expected.
See the following video for overview or an electric comet interacting with Mars to appear and disappear a planetary coma!
Here is Mars observed with coma (not the moon!)

Now here is Mars observed with coma EXPLODING (the gases in the coma that is)

SOURCE

NB I include this in the list but really evidence of this occurrence is scarce. Had the government shutdown not occurred during that time we might have had excellent photographic evidence proving or disproving that interaction described in a Youtube video posted by Seeingatruth. Still, as already noted we have the comet’s Mercury fly pass to observe – that’s going to be November 15th folks!. This time the evidence will be clear.

8. Not rotating. This is a possibility suggested by some observers. If this is proven to be correct when finally we see detailed images of the comet’s surface it would make ISON particularly odd.

Comet ISON is of the sun diving class or maybe that should be ‘sun-grazing class’, however the trajectory will take it past the sun (unless it breaks up completely during the closest point to the star). This is a hyperbolic orbit it is descending down into our planetary system relative to the plane of orbits around our star and then zooms past our sun never to return. At the perihelion, that is the point at which it is closest to the sun, the comet should be at its brightest. ISON will travel around the sun and pass fairly close by Earth, and it is expected to be visible with the naked eye. The orbit of Mars, Mercury, and Earth come close to its trajectory.

Well hey, if you're looking to the MSM to get your information about comet ISON, then you're in for a world of trouble.

It was the MSM that labeled it as the "comet of the century" and it was the media that stated that it would appear to be "brighter than a full moon".

Maybe your false assumption of a media blackout is due to the comet not being anywhere near as interesting as the media has made you believe.

Have you even googled it? I just did and got an article about it on NBC amongst dozens of other smaller news sources.

All this doom about selected comets (small, uninteresting ones are ignored by doom porners for some reason) is akin to the dark ages where we burned witches and lived amongst our own faeces. I think you need to come into the 21st century and stop being scared of comets and witches.

Just on this point, you're completely wrong.

Comet C/2011 L4 has an eccentricity of 1.000087

And that was just a random one I picked.

Perhaps you should go and recheck your 'facts'.

Scientists have reported we will likely receive a ‘dusting’ from its tail. As to whether or not this dusting includes meteors that might hit the surface of the earth as meteorites – well the jury is still out. We shall have to see. It is likely ISON has caused asteroids from the belt of rocks lying between Mars and Jupiter to go careening in different directions as it passed through. This may well have been the origin of the meteor seen and felt in Russia earlier this year.
Link is here:
news.discovery.com...
'
Physicist James McCanney discusses the way in which ISON will interact with the planets, including quite possibly with Earth. We will quite likely see “serious plasma events” lighting up our sky. However, “standard science does not believe comets can interact with the sun” however as Dr McCanney notes we now have documented evidence proving comets do affect the sun.

They also affect planets. ISON flew by Mars at the beginning of October and a direct electrical interaction was observed. Coincidently this was during the period of the US government shutdown. As a result NASA was also shutdown apparently, and no recordings of the fly past of Mars by ISON are known to have been recorded, at least more to the point none are available to the general public. We do know the fly past of ISON caused a noticeable affect on the planet’s coma. There exist photos of electrical discharge as the comet passed over Mars. Meanwhile from NASA, Yee-up, absolutely nothing, nor from the European space agency, nor from any government, but photos do exist from amateurs using their own equipment. See the video below titled 'Comet ISON and Mercury's Electrical Phenomenon Nov 12-18 2013 '

ISON is not behaving as comets should when this close to the sun. It ought to melting, there should be a lot of dust visible coming off it.

It's on a kamikaze mission towards the sun, and when it gets closer, it'll begin to shed its icy shell, giving it that tail we all want to see. According to NASA, the "comet of the century" could be brighter than the full moon.

SOURCE

This is not what is being observed! What is presumed as being an icy body is acting as if it were not, it is as if it were a solid. Astronomers are making some particularly out of character comments for scientists who are used to handling predictability. E.g,

I don't know what's going on with this comet!

Here’s what highly regarded comet observer John Bortle who has observed several hundred comets has to say.

At this stage of the game, with the comet about to cross the orbit of Earth, I cannot recall any previous comet in my 50-plus years of comet observing looking quite like this. So, what does ISON's current look foretell, or mean? I honestly don't know. All I can say is I don't like the odd look of it at this time.

SOURCE

There are no recent pictures of comet ISON. This is in itself highly unusual. One major reason for the lack of images of ISON during the period of its apparent absence, and for some time in the period following was simply that extremely expensive optics could be damaged by attempts to photograph the comet and sun in such close proximity within the frame of vision. But where are the photos of it since then?

…the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) and EPOXI/Deep Impact (DI) missions should have taken images by now. Where are those images?

SOURCE

Is it just that NASA and like government agencies worldwide are unable to get HD images of far off objects? Not at all, because there is plenty examples available on the Internet:
See following link.
solarsystem.nasa.gov...

Here is a link to a picture of the body of Comet Hartely 2.
hubblesite.org...

And here a link to yet another example:
www.astrobio.net...

Now, for the sake of comparison, here are examples of official images of ISON, including the very best NASA can give us. Here is the link.
news.discovery.com...

The deep impact mission early images of ISON.
Here is the link.
www.nasa.gov...

And from the Christian Monitor.
Here is the link.
www.csmonitor.com...

Well, it just so happens that NASA at least has given plenty of simple explanations of why it hasn’t succeeded in capturing a HD image of the comet, or in fact any recent image of the comet surface. Simple but far from satisfactory. On the up side, Comet ISON should come into view on NASA STEREO/SECCHI HI-2A before the end of this month. Those images will allow us to confirm some of the oddities listed above, or allows us to dismiss them. We will see.

December 26th.

Got to admit, this is some pretty interesting stuff you compiled OP but I don't want to make any speculations as I already made a fool of myself last year. So the shutdown starts just as ISON passes Mercury? I guess we won't get to see what happens to Mercury.

So much has happened this year, and even to me personally that came to me in a form of a dream of which another member also experienced on the same day.

I don't know about you all, but regardless of what is to come - I'm ready for it. It will be spectacularly beautiful moment in History one way or another. God bless you all, and have mercy on our souls.

ISON will come closest to the Earth on December 26th. But you wouldn’t know about this if you relied on the main corporate news media outlets. Now why is that?

There is next to NO news about ISON on the main media outlets. At the beginning of this week just past, on November 4, 2013 we had news of the most recent solar eclipse. We have a solar eclipse every year somewhere on the earth, but there is next to no information about ISON an astronomy event not witnessed in thousands of years! What the heck! That is not a news story? Not even about its effect on Mars earlier last month? While nothing is being said about ISON in the west it is news elsewhere. Meanwhile, in Japan the government TV news channel NHK completed a lengthy item on ISON in its evening news program – while our TV channels choose to run stories of the solar eclipse.

A news blackout is being imposed on us on the subject of ISON folks. It is most complete here in the west (even in Japan the 'in depth' story was upbeat concluding with a story about a company advertising an 'ISON observation' trip in a passenger jet - it was apparently booked out by the time the story went to air).

And still nothing from NASA. No detailed high definition photos of the surface of ISON. Ya know we do get detailed pictures of asteroids, of the moons of Mars. of the planet Saturn and of Jupiter, and fantastic recent HD shots covering Mercury. Yet there are no HD quality shots so far of ISON. The best we have had so far was from the Hubble space telescope but only of the coma. That was over four months ago. There has been nothing showing the surface of the comet itself. Nothing from any space agency of government, but that doesn’t rule out private enterprise. Images of the surface of the comet are claimed to become available soon from the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HIRISE) focused on Mars that is based at Arizona University. We will have to wait and see about those because they are still not being released to the public.
See link.
www.uahirise.org...

Two more points possibly relevant to the REAL-news blackout. Firstly, we are currently in the peak of the solar maximum that will carry on throughout 2013. Second, ISON is actually just one of FOUR comets currently incoming at this time. On this point in a Youtube video posted by CanadianGreekMe, he asks no one in particular the following.

...does this make 2014 the year of the comet?’

Hmmm, it sure looks that way, doesn’t it?

Just a note of caution before we get started though. To talk about the cover up of ISON we must necessary discuss what it is that is being covered up.

Moderators - this means inevitably there will be an overlap with at least one other thread on ATS, but I would argue that the essential story of ISON is much too big to be kept to a single thread.

Posters – beware of the troll / paid shill. There are many genuine threads on ATS but just like Youtube there are threads set up with the purpose of undermining discussion of a subject apriori it getting off the ground. That is, setting up a straw man argument diverting discussion to arguments designed to be easily won by themselves or more usually by other paid shills including themselves under separate identities. I see just such projects aimed at undermining serious discussion on ISON and the dissemination of real information from scientists really beginning to ramp up. If you doubt this, enter ‘ISON’ into Youtube. I also suspect I see the same activity on the topic of ISON on ATS.

Here's the thing though. You can actually gauge the quality of the information being presented by the presence of solid packs of these paid shills in the threads. I observe there is often an inverse relationship between the presence of genuine information - of the kind the TPTB do not want the public to receive - and the amount of ridicule and harassment that goes on in a thread.

Let's not forget to mention the other strategy these paid shills are fond of, the continual barrage of inane 'No it isn't' type posts that leave you to wonder why a single poster would spend so much of their time bothering to post on the thread if they don't believe a word of it.
Yeah, right.

For those religious messengers looking to use this thread as an opportunity for a spot of proselytizing, please don't – go and start your own thread. And as usual, civility is always appreciated ya-all. So no misbehaving. And, apart from all of that, let’s get a healthy and passionate discussion going here.

Let’s hope ISON’s emergence from around the sun in just over 3 weeks time (November 28) comes to nothing more than one giant sparkler making its way grandly across the sky to fade slowly after a few days into infinitum.

Bunker?

Why would I or anyone need a bunker?

It's a comet, we get several a year fly by, sometimes we get bright ones, so bright they can be seen by the naked eye.

Remember Comet McNaught? Or were you hiding from it by pulling your jumper over your head?

Remember LoveJoy? Or were you cowering in fear under your bed?

Both recent and bright comets.

I saw them both and they were amazing.

ISON will hopefully be equally amazing.

But seriously, were you fearful of Lovejoy or Mcnaught?
Why?

ISON and Mars aren't dating, they were dancing in each others vicinity. At the closest their distance was 10.5 million km (6.5 million miles).
