I think it fits his psychological profile, I think of course, that he has good intentions in mind, but there would be both bad precedents set for future Presidents, not to mention unintended consequences of his good intentions.

Although I think the video is accurate - as in an accurate assessment of the situation, having seen Obama speak myself, and the energy of the crowd around him. It would turn the Senate into an advisory committee and the House into nothing important, except maybe a reflection of the populace opinion, while the Senate would more be a reflection of the Elite's opinion -

All advisory, of course, not to be taken as law. Wow, Obama seems to want a drastic restructuring of our Democratic Republic, quite honestly.

Wishful hate? lol, Obama is a dictator if there ever was one, you or anyone can see it in how he ignores congress, ignores the senate, ignores the bill of rights, and ignores the U.S. constitution! ( On a daily basis)

Am I seriously the only person on earth that's aware of this statistic?

Barrack Obama has served as president from 2009-2013 (the current year at the time this is being written, yielding approximately 4.5 years), and has issued approximately 147 executive orders thus far. 147 divided by the 4.5 years in office yields an annual average of about 33 executive orders per year, while being involved in the winding down of the Iraq War and War in Afghanistan.

The approximately 33 executive orders per year gives Obama the title of fewest executive orders per year since the end of World War II.

George W. Bush issued 291 executive orders during his 8 year term, an annual average of about 36 orders per year, which is a bit surprising considering that the United States was involved in two wars during that period.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Obama is a good president. But clearly, he is no more of a dictator than the last guy. And no worse at his job than the last guy. Anyone that looks at these statistics and still thinks he is anymore of a dictator than bush was, is either willfully ignorant or suffering from an extreme case of cognitive dissonance.

Feel free to go to the link below and do the math yourself. Though I doubt you will. It's a lot easier to kill the messenger than it is to admit you're wrong.

Most everyone on here would like to believe they aren't being played by the propaganda machine. But, if you think Obama is any more of a dictator than bush or regan or Nixon or carter or pretty much any president since before WWII, you are clearly being played for a fool. .

The most blaring of these is his decree to exclude businesses from the Patient Protection Act (or Obamacare), thus overstepping his authority and side-stepping the precedence of shared and equal powers between three and separate equal branches of government.

In my opinion, the most blaring and GLARING is the drone program that he has increased, the rendition programs, and the overseas "force" he calls "War on Terror."

SICKENING.

Congress has become incapacitated by their division and fighting, I know what he is referring to and so does everyone else. That is regardless of how anyone feels about the president. I personally would like to bypass the whole of the Government.

Congress Fiercely Divided Over Completely Blank Bill That Says And Does Nothing
Jul 25, 2013

WASHINGTON—A blank piece of legislation that says nothing, does nothing, and contains no text whatsoever has been the source of heated debate in Washington this week, and has sharply divided Congress along partisan lines, Beltway sources confirmed Thursday.

Known as S.0000, the bill, which doesn’t have sponsors, co-sponsors, or an author, has reportedly drawn starkly contrasting opinions from legislators in both the Senate and House of Representatives, and has paved the way for a major legislative battle in coming months.

“At a time when millions of Americans are still struggling, we simply cannot afford this kind of devil-may-care federal policy,” said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), angrily waving the blank stack of papers in front of reporters. “We will not risk leading the American people into further hardship simply so the Obama administration can once again do whatever they please, regardless of the consequences. As it is now, the bill is both short-sighted and utterly irresponsible.”

I thought about starting a new thread with this satire article from the Onion, but this is the PERFECT thread for it.

Jeez, elouina, really, you are in your own little world along with those other Fox adherents. And no, I'll never forget that thread, either. Sorry.

I propose groups of people to adopt the Nazi salute whenever encountering these facists republicans in congress. the flat palms down, straight arm raised up at an angle salute, and shouting SIEG HEIL!!! would be an eye-catching symbol, to express what people really think of these representatives who only care about the well-being of the wealthy.

Since Fascism draws from pretty much all political ideology there is and champions the supremacy of the state?

Well Yeah Obama is fascist dictator.

Obama is a dictator and sure the hell wants one make it easier to ban guns, and force more corporate products on us.

People so do love to compare him to past presidents but there is only really one, and that is Roosevelt.

[Roosevelt] was always... finding new victims to loot and new followers to reward, flouting common sense, and boldly denying its existence, demonstrating by his anti-logic that two and two made five, promising larger and larger slices of the moon. His career will greatly engage historians, if any good ones ever appear in America, but it will be of even more interest to psychologists. He was the first American to penetrate to the real depths of vulgar stupidity. He never made the mistake of overestimating the intelligence of the American mob. He was its unparalleled professor. Which article gives Congress the right to hold the nation hostage in
exchange of forcing their own personal agenda?

That would be Article I where we the People have designated them as the sole legislators of our Government. It is up to the People (that whole democracy thing many clamor on about wanting) and the States (too bad the 17th Amendment neutered that route) to effectively control that branch. It is no easy task, but to just throw up your arms and say "they aren't doing it -- so lets just wrest power from them to one man to make the decisions.

In effect, this has already been done and tell me what good has come from it? The War Powers Act gives wide discretion and power to the Executive to "defend" the United States and her interest and commit troops far and wide; without declaring war and as of recently, without even informing Congress. This isn't President Obama's doing, but it is in place and is a direct result of thinking like yours. Congress won't act, so we abdicate power to one man and one man only. Anyone care to stab at that type of Government? Anyone?!

It's no secret that this is the most ineffective Congress in U.S. history,
and their failure in the House is tearing this country apart.

What an overly simplistic view. I view it as the most effective Congress. Their "ineffectiveness" is measured how? How many bills they pass? They have effectively bogged down an overly ambitious Executive. That is success from my side of things.

We're talking about Congressmen so hell bent on gumming up the works,
that they've even mistakenly filibustered themselves.

It's ludicrous.

That is their job to gum up the works. We are only recently on this hell-bent idea that Congress needs to be A: Full time B: Legislate any and everything.

My thinking is, the door swings both ways. It could easily read:

Well then CONGRESS should 'work' with Obama.

What has Congress really 'done' for the economy without Obama anyway ?

Why should Congress, especially the House, feel compelled to work with an Executive that has no respect for their branch of Government? Why should Congress, who only the elite few (both Republican and Democrat) are invited to get the wine and dine treatment from the President?

The difference is, I see Obama trying to get this stagnant river we call our economy flowing again, meanwhile, Congress keeps tossing in bricks to dam it up.

Do expand this. How? By using the force of the Government to decide what industries and markets are viable?

What facts and what history are you referring to. And are you saying that this is the only heavy partisan divide for a President? If so -- it seems that history doesn't matter to you because this isn't the first nor the last. What a schmuck.

Your logic is astounding. You should have your own show on FOX News.

It's not my logic, it's Obama's.

If Obama keeps harping that he wants to do the best he can for the citizens, and we have a House of Representatives elected by the citizens that has a majority that HE doesn't want to 'work with', what do we learn from THAT logic ?

Obama isn't serving the will of the population is he ?

Obama hates compromise, he wants his cake and eat it too.

"" You should have your own show on FOX News ""
i applied, but i never went to college so they denied me the show.

No you are just another perfect example of a person without a valid argument slinging insults. This president that you are so keen on defending wants to turn our constitution into toilet paper. How? First by wanting to take our guns away, and secondly by fully supporting the NSA spying on its citizens. Plus he now stands accused of multiple abuses of power. I would consider the drone program such an abuse.

Since when should a president have the right to authorize picking people off the face of the earth one by one. All while killing innocent people and children who happen to be near by? The only reason he gets away with it is because the US is a super power. How would US citizens feel if say Russia decided to do the same to our citizens? Obviously a war would results, and rightly so. And who decided on the rules that due process doesn't apply to non Americans? This is an appalling double standard.

Nowhere did I say that I feel that we are presently in a dictatorship. Although I feel we are heading in that direction. More so now in this administration than ever before. If given enough power a president if they so desire will become a dictator. It is up to the American citizens to utilize the laws of the land to ensure that no one person ever does get this much power. Thus my wake up call to you today.

Rand Paul was a perfect example of an elected official using the power of filibuster to assure that power stays in check. Yeah I think we did need that clarified a bit, wouldn't you say?

When I filibustered over domestic drone use, critics said that I was being ridiculous. They said that no American had been killed by a drone on American soil and that no one was likely to be anytime soon. President Obama responded that he hadn’t killed anyone yet and didn’t intend to — but he might.

That wasn’t the point. The filibuster was about the limits of power. It was about how much authority the president imagined he had. Lincoln wrote that nearly any man can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man, give him power.

Yeah he might... Scarey words to be hearing from a president.

PAUL: A staggering abuse of power

A dictatorship would be easier, there is no denying that. Running a republic is many times more difficult. But is he stating that he would like to bypass the laws of our land?

Obama video quotes:
"but the idea of doing things on my own is very tempting"
"I know there are some folks that wish I can bypass congress... I can..."

Obeying the laws of our land.
Like the Patriot Act?

And he said "Can't" by the way.

You do know the Patriot act was renewed and it's powers expanded under the regime of the Obama?

You do know the largest expansion of power of spying occurred under Obama?

You do know Obama has the power to kill who ever he wants when ever he wants and get's to indefinitely detain anyone he deems to be a 'terrorist' ?

Tell me more about this 'freedom' I have enjoyed under the regime of Obama?

No wait this country is now more fascist than it has ever been.

No President is a "friend of the Constitution." But Obama has excercised his use of executive powers far less than others, far less than one might expect when faced with a crumbling economy and stone walling on the house floor.

And he is a fiscal 'conservative'.
