I had assumed this would be up by now, and I must give credit to Outkast Searcher for inspiration with his thread on the Republican Convention.RNC discussion

This event is different than the GOP and has the advantage of responding to Republican rhetoric of last week. The event is being held in Charlotte, NC.

For example, actor and activist Kal Penn made a comment about "the invisible man in the chair," which got a lot of laughs.

A lot of big name speakers tonight, including Gov's O'Malley(MD), Patrick (MA), Perdue (NC), Rahm Emanuel and of course the first lady.

Tomorrow Bill Clinton will speak, Thursday Obama.

I really liked the real time discussion and reaction last week and hope to mimic that activity here.

Keynote speaker is Mayor Castro of San Antonio.

Dem's are making a concerted effort to mobilize the Latino voters.

He's doing well so far. I'm grateful that someone finally got this thread going!

Lily Ledbetter and Deval Patrick were also very galvanizing earlier this night.

Mayor Castro just mentioned God, and there was silence since most Dems despise God.
He also mentioned prosperity, yet almost all Dems believe in equality.

He's a young guy, I wonder if he could challenge the Republican 15 yr. stronghold on Tex. governorship eventually.

He's looking pretty good so far. His audience is with him, and he's hitting all the right notes, with sincerity, among this diverse crowd.

Wow, the Dems are fired up in compared to the GOP

The energy level between the two is drastic.

Maybe nobody here cares, but the DNC removed God from their platform.
Madeline Murray O'Hare would be proud.

OK,

so will you stop playing god and let GOD be the judge of our wretched mortal souls?

Funny that, Julian Castro's mother, Rosie helped found a radical, anti-white, socialist Chicano party called La Raza Unida.

Not taxing the middle class?.....I didn't believe the Republicans, not believing the Democrats either.

The only coverage I could bear to watch was a little Q&A with Sean Hannity and some Dem. surrogates for Obama. None of them could answer Hannity's questions that pertained to Obama's failures. None. They all blamed Bush or Blamed our nations 3 wars (Iraq, Afghanistan and drug war) for our financial problems. No one could comment on Obama's promise to cut the deficit in half while he actually added $5 trillion to it. Just a constant blame game and pregnant pauses when they were left without words.

Expect more of the same in the days to come at the convention. Bush is to blame for everything....

I"ll catch highlights from Michelle's speech in the morning.

The new Dem. platform is quite interesting.... No God!! and Free Abortions for all!! Pro Israel language has been removed... It's officially on the books folks. This is what they want.

"The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman’s right to make decisions regarding her pregnancy, including a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay."

Regardless of ability to pay. That means we pay regardless of how others may feel about abortions. Tax payer dollars at work... Nice stance on Eugenics from the DNC... Margaret Sanger would be very proud about what her "planned parenthood" has accomplished...

According to the DNC.. "Govt. is the only thing we all belong to" Really?? Or do you belong to the govt??

They desperately need you to be dependent on Govt.... desperately!!

What distortions? Read the platform for yourself...The only distortions were displayed by Hannity's tongue tied guests. Classic duck and cover responses to simple questions...

"Moving America Forward"

"The truth matters, you don't take shortcuts"...big positive reaction from the crowd.
"Being President reveals who you are"...another big cheer.

Lots of positive energy in this hall tonight, nobody's falling asleep here.

Don't play cute, you know exactly what I'm talking about

Obama, is an illegal alien, communist, muslim, who is going to become a dictator,
who destroyed the economy in 2008 , invented street drugs and started both wars.

This election is going to be won on just that.

If America is feeling negative Obama is out.

If they are feeling positive, he is in.

I just don't think America is on a negative kick right now...

Those people are smiling -

The RNC they were scowling
