If tonight is any and I mean any indication of how the rest of the convention goes, Romney will find himself coming off his little vacation underwater. Passionate speakers, speaking passionately will blow the doors off a catchphrase every time.

I feel like I need to go wash the syrup off after listing to Michelle. Dripping with it! All emotion and no substance. But, it got the conventioneers stirred up with emotion, I guess.

You can't confuse a one-dimensional cardboard cutout with a real, flesh and blood human being, unless you're really deficient at relating to your fellow human.

Syrup huh?

Really?

Talking about the struggles most of us face is a great way to connect with voters,
unlike spouting off empty slogans that have been repeated for the last 40 years.

Good speeches, but I am trying not to watch too much. last week was the RNC infomercial, this week is the DNC infomercial, everyone will make fantastic speeches, but the debates is what will be intriguing.

In my opinion, this night in general, and the theme will be overall positive.

The energy level is off the charts, that is the biggest thing I noticed.

I agree on the debates, I can't wait.

OK,

so will you stop playing god and let GOD be the judge of our wretched mortal souls?

You know, they might just put Him back in one of the next election cycles with a name change - Allah.
Thanks for judging me to be judging you.

btw, I have a sister that's a Muslim and look up to her greatly. So don't assume I hate Muslims either.

The debates to me are meh, I fully expect Obama to tear Mittens to shreds. For crying out loud Romney won't own his career in Massachusetts, and Ryan can't even remember how fast he ran in the only marathon he ran. When you have a foundational problem telling the truth, things like facts are gonna sting.

Comparing speeches by potential first ladies, I'd say Mrs. Obama is more polished in political thought, with her educational background and all. But Mrs. Romney may have given a more effective speech in terms of mass appeal.

I am so feeling this convention! San Antonio mayor, Julio Castro was amazing. He hit home with his speech! I think Texas is in for a big turn around. All of us down here were swelling with pride at our Latino brother speaking at the DNC! First Latino speaker at a DNC ever!
Mrs.Obama was wonderful as usual! She really provoked emotions, and as a woman I felt her words about her husband and children. I cant wait for Thursday!

Here is the thing though, the right will ultimately ignore this week. the left is already voting anyhow, the independents are going to watch a movie and get annoyed at all this endless political coverage. So, who are these conventions ultimately aimed at? Who watches a convention to try and figure out if they like or dislike a person?
Maybe when its all new players (2008) but this year..meh.

So ya, debates is when the actual independent voters tune in..no more glitter and lies, face to face debate and discourse. let both make their case sitting side by side and decide...outside..meh, its political theater as usual.
