WASHINGTON -- A District of Columbia police officer has been taken off a motorcycle escort for White House officials after he allegedly said he'd shoot first lady Michelle Obama and "then used his phone to retrieve a picture of the firearm he said he would use," according to The Washington Post.

This is a developing story, I'll add further comments as news comes in..but wow...why would anyone shoot a first lady??? I wonder who this cop is working for...if anyone.

Not sure if this is something that was blown out of proportion if it's an actual threat. Although if you're on the motor squad protecting the president...these sorts of comments should always be taken seriously.

As for working for someone? I doubt it. But that'll be investigated, I'm sure.

If he were, he wouldn't be yakking about it with people, or showing the weapon he'd be using...or so one would think. Not too bright, what ever the case turns out to be.

First of all, even if you loathe Obama and his politics, I hope you would respect America and the office he holds enough to recognize that such an action would be a horrible direction for our country to take, regardless of your political affiliation. But perhaps you hate America and want to see us descend into a police state, which such an assassination would likely move us toward.

Hard to make a guess without context - For instance: what if they had been discussing scenarios and someone came up with some crazy situation in which it was the last resort attempt to protect the Pres.?

I have no idea Secret Service protocol, but one would think that the Pres. would trump anyone else, even his wife, no? Harsh reality, though.

Guess we'll have to wait for more info...

I'm sure that'll come to pass. Suspension, and investigation at the least are going to figure prominently in his future. Depending upon what is found, then jail for the good portion of the remainder of his life.

As much as I think the President's policies are not right and that sometimes he does this on purpose, for someone to joke around about shooting the first lady is wrong. And he would have to be joking around. To say this sort of thing as a policeman would be a career ender. Wouldn't it?

Something is fishy here... In fact, it just stinks. He's not a flat foot busting crack dealers on a street corner and making some flippant remark. He's a cop already on White House escort duty. That means he's already being watched like a sack of ..sucpicious material...by SS agents who suspect their own mothers of something, I'm sure. They just don't quite know what yet.

....and he's going to say this? He's surrounded, as part of his job, by men with machine guns who aren't trained to draw and hold they're trained to aquire and fire in a smooth non-stop whammy. ..and he'd say this??? Okay, I'm not saying he didn't voice the words. It's pretty obvious. The motive is what I am totally confused by. If he meant to DO it..cops wouldn't warn they'd just DO IT. I'd start asking other things... Does he have gambling debts? Other reasons that going home is worse than what he just did to his future? I've heard of professional sucide, but this was epic and for no apparent reason?

Personally I think it is Barry who needs help on so many levels, also as long as he is the occupier of that office, then I don't have any respect for it. I have become completely and totally fed up with the whole situation of our government.
