The last time it erupted the magma chamber was measured at 0.5km under the surface.

One point to consider is how thick is the dome crust left from the 1980 eruption.
The thicker the crust (cork), could be used for anaysis as to the power of any future eruption.

Whoa!

What is this!

I think the only thing this volcanoe is spewing up is oversized flies!

Anyway the volcanoe looks relatively calm now.

Is it not better that the volcanoe was exploding with gas/steam/ash for awhile as if you think of it as a coca cola bottle when its fizzly you open the lid slightly and let all the gases out slowly so it doesnt all fizz up and explode all over you when you take the lid off?

I think this release of steam/gas/ash is a good thing as it shouldnt be a very big explosion but i could be wrong.

The dome has bulged between 50-100 feet quite recently.

There's been another steam eruption, ongoing now. Big'n.

Where banshee? I cant see the eruption.

Is there a real-time webcam?

I dont like this 5 minute update one.

Prefferably one which doesnt charge you to watch it like the CNN one does.

Cheers.

You're not missing much. It is about the same as Friday. It is still only a steam event. While it's nice getting some national attention, the local news here is blowing everything way out of porportion.

Been watching the webcam the last few days and this is the most activity seen so far. Bigger than the little hiccup on Friday last week.

I'd post a pic but I'm new here and haven't figured that bit out yet

Thats the one sauron.

Is this just the steam explosion that banshee was talking about?

And why have the feeds stopped?

Good capture, Sauron. That's right when this eruption began. It's pretty spectacular right now, and seems to be still going almost 30 min after it began.

The plume is showing darker grey near the crater right now. Ash coming up, likely.

Watched a bit of it on FNC.
Are they speculating anything right now? Is this the start of the event, the event, or just Helen clearing her throat again?

I'm watching a press conference on the local news with a scientist from the USGS. According to him, unlike Friday's event, the earthquakes this time have not stopped. In fact, they are beginning to get stronger. Things may start to get interesting.

I'm at work right now in Portland, OR but plan on leaving soon with my camera. I will try to update later.
