YouTube has backed down over the Anonymous hacker collective's threat to "unleash hell" against it for blocking TheAnonMessage account before a 72-hour deadline expired.
It also restored a controversial video criticising the Kony 2012 campaign, which went viral last month.
"BREAKING: GREAT NEWS! @YouTube has unlocked my account and unblocked the censored video in response to yesterday's threat!" the account holder of TheAnonMessage wrote on Twitter.

UPDATE! Earlier this afternoon, YouTube decided to heed the warning and unlock TheAnonMessage's account. No Censorship. Knowledge is Free. We are Anonymous.
On March 25, Anonymous hacktivists accused YouTube of censorship after TheAnonMessage account was blocked. The hackers warned YouTube executives that if the account will not be unlocked in 72 hours, they will unleash hell upon them. YouTube complied.
“Your block to TheAnonMessage's account has directly violated first amendment rights of the constitution of the United States. This violation stands against everything our collective believes in,” Anonymous wrote.
“By speaking out against the viral Kony twenty twelve video, Youtube has decided to block a voice of truth.”
It was uncertain what Anonymous had in store for the company’s C-level management, but it sounded pretty bad.
“However, we will take a course of action that will have YouTube executives awake at night and afraid for their sanity. No censorship. Knowledge is free,” the video statement concludes.
The hackers also highlighted the fact that the message was not directed to the YouTube website, since it’s considered to be a “medium of communication and knowledge that has fallen in the wrong hands.”
A few hours ago, long before the deadline ended, YouTube restored the account, much to the satisfaction of the Anonymous community.

KONY island: Inside the weird world of Jason Russell
.... Russell, the co-founder of controversial charity Invisible Children, was taken to a psychiatric ward in San Diego, California, on Thursday after suffering a meltdown in public. He is to be released later today.
TMZ released video footage of Russell hitting the pavement with his fists, swearing to himself and shouting.
It was claimed that Russell was also caught masturbating in the street. His wife, Danica, blamed the breakdown on the criticism KONY 2012 has attracted.

I have but one question, if these anonymous hackers are truly just a loose band of people, how in the name of god do they acquire such high priced video productions??? The Intro alone is way too professional to just be some hobbyist screwing around in a cg program with After Effects post?

I guess in anon's case there is a fine line between being a HERO (A person who is admired for courage or noble qualities) and being a SOCIOPATH (A person with a personality disorder manifesting itself in extreme antisocial attitudes and behavior and a lack of conscience).
edit on 27-3-2012 by FORMe2p00p0n because: extra wiping was needed

Oh man, I'm starting to get tired of this # flooding the front page. I'm really disappointed with the direction they have taken.
