As one commenter mentioned, "Just curious if this has anything to do with the hundreds of Bradley tanks that rolled through California recently on a train. Hmmm...."

My thoughts exactly.

Another commenter mentions similar training going on in Little Rock.

I know they gotta train, but seems to be a LOT of urban training going on in U.S. cities recently.

tryin to say the US should expect an attack where we have to defend our major cities from invasion?

we have training sites for this stuff....NTC and JRTC....NTC is rural/desert environments....JRTC is more urban...granted that is a big simplification of the two sites...but I got out in the 90's and we had urban training sites....Why do we need to train in an actual city and disrupt the populace.....oh wait, that is why we set up fake stuff....hmmm

Those tanks were going to the docks, not LA.

Push Push Push....It never ends, does it? What IDIOT thought this was a good idea? Is there something lacking about the Multi-Million dollar MOUT sites that exist in several places around the nation for Urban training?? No.. It has to be done on display to a nervous and in some cases, downright scared public.

Conspiracy fears and general distrust of the Government has *NEVER* been higher in our nation's history...so what should we all do now? Well, hell. That should be obvious, eh? Lets go stage U.S. Military operations inside a major U.S. population center and metropolitan area. Why not? No one could EVER see anything nefarious about THIS, can they?? Oh..of course not. What a silly thought.



Now I don't suggest there *IS* anything nefarious about the training. If it's like Miami and Boston examples were, then it's going to be as much or more Helicopter operations in complex urban environments (with all the wind and air condition problems that brings) than anything else.

I'd also note..and this one is important....The high profile and witnessed operations in Miami with blackhawks playing touch and go off the side of sky scrapers came before..and perhaps related to...the raid on Usama Bin Laden.


Whatever the thinking or reason though... Tone deaf and BRAIN DEAD just don't do this kind of crap justice in describing. It's beyond all that. It's outright insane if keeping the public calm and relatively content is even remotely on the radar of the White House and military leadership.

When you say "we" do you mean the general public (non military), or the entire country (military included) as a whole? When you say an attack, who would you assume would be the attacker?

either that or they're looking to figure out how to capture and detain the 750,000 Iranians who live in California, when we go to war with Iran.

There is some speculation that they may be going to Yakima, Washington, where there is a huge training center. Nobody really knows yet.

Why not make it open to the public ?

That would be more "realistic" I think.

"Closing" it to the public in a real war zone might not be possible

Night-time military helicopter flights over downtown Los Angeles this week are part of training exercises to familiarize military personnel with urban settings and prepare them for future assignments overseas, according to authorities.

The helicopters, which have appeared nightly for almost a week, have attracted the attention of residents as they hover over downtown landmarks like City Hall, or maneuver quickly between office skyscrapers on Bunker Hill. While many residents speculated that the diving and climbing helicopters were part of a movie shoot, authorities confirmed Wednesday that they were part of a joint exercise.

A short notice saying the LAPD would be supporting an urban military exercise was posted on the department's official blog.

The notice says the exercises started June 15 and are scheduled to end Saturday and that they will occur throughout Greater Los Angeles.

Authorities said training sites and times have been selected so they do not disrupt the daily routines of businesses and residents. Safety precautions have also been taken to protect the public and military personnel. The training is not open to the public.

You cant justify a one black hawk helicopter buzz with a single with whats going on now in 2012.

What part of news release being almost exactly the same did you miss or not understand? Instead of trying to attack me, how about you read and comprehend what I type and apply some common sense to it?

Let me help -
This type of training occurs more often than people realize.
It occurs in cities large and small. The larger the city, the more notice required because of the ability to impact civilians / businesses.
Since there is no law violation at either the local state or federal level, I dont see why people want to get worked up over a training exercise.

Its training, its been occurring for the last 15 + years, and to date their is still no martial law or government / military coup.

Its routine training and nothing more.
