No one expects the spanish inquisition. I'm not bigoted against catholics, just bad thinking and the repression of ideas and technology to retain power over your fellow man. I'm equally predjudiced against all organized religion so ,not quite a bigot. Anytime a MAN tells you he speaks for G-d put down the Kool-aid and think for a second. And a CHURCH that hides and abets pedophiles, even buying the silence of victims IMHO doesn't seem to be a tool of the lord.

I have only this to say to you and I am done.

I am not afraid of thinking. I am thinking. Guess what and who I am thinking off?

CHILDREN and their protection.

When next you are thinking - try including the CHILDREN in your thoughts.
Have you any idea how lucky you are that on this site you are an avatar attached to words. If the Child Protection Unit in Australia were trawlling this site they would be very interested in you!! Take that from a former Police officer.

Much Peace..

He may ALREADY be thinking of children in his thoughts i am afraid.

Catholosism is based on the tenet that the pope is infallible as G-d's representitive on Earth. If the pope is wrong just once the whole religion is a fake and a sham and should be "moved to the hoax forum". Catholic church you sicken me, you tool of man and Satan.

its already happened back during the great scizm when we had 2 popes at the same time.

Going to war over religion is like fighitng over who has the better imaginary friend.

Every single person on this planet experiences 2 things, and that never will change, regardless of nationality, skin color, gender, intelligence, etc etc etc.

we all are born....

we all die....

everything else inbetween is just filler

Xcathdra,

I politely disagree. We can know...

God has always named a leader. In the New Covenant, it is the Pope. The
Pope is never wrong on matters of faith and morals. It's a gift from God. Pope
Paul VI had the whole world nearly and many Catholic clergy against him when stood his ground, he refused to change the Church teaching on contraception.

The few times there have been two popes, one was a true Pope and the other,
an anti-pope.

You say that these men shouldn't be prosocuted for what they choose to put into their minds but you ignore the fact that if it's child pornography then they have obtained photographs of children being sexually abused and have supported the sexual abuse of young children, for their own personal pleasure and enjoyment, by paying for it.They should most definitely be prosocuted and be made to reveal all sources of the origins of the materials. ..and then possibly hung.

In the act of looking at your avatar, am I supporting "Ferris Bueller"?

But yeah you're right, let's just hang people. Then we don't have to think, or worry about the actions they may take in the future. That's easier.

Orthodoxy is why the Catholic Church is everyone's target. Many people are pretending this is only a problem in the Catholic Church, but in fact it's a problem everywhere. That's why I recommend people actually do the research. There's a reason the Catholic Church is the one the media focuses on. It's because the world does not subscribe to orthodoxy.

Not all priests have committed evil. To claim the whole church is bad because of this is to buy the line.

No surprise, this Catholic bashing thread is full of hate.

Those accusing forget they are sinners too and the scandal in the priesthood doesn't take away from the holiness of Christ's Church.

Satan unlike most of the people posting here believes Roman Catholicism is the
true faith. His plan is to abolish the Holy Eucharist. We'll see it happen, it's not
permanent thank the Lord, when the anti-Christ takes power.

Try to discern what I just said...

God wants everyone to become Roman Catholic. The Remnant is Roman
Catholic.

I didn't realize what Daniel meant when he stated that the antichrist will take away the sacrifice till I learned that "mass" means "sacrifice".

Actually, reading the article on the nytimes site this case does not fall under your thought crimes debate.

The indictment of the bishop, Robert W. Finn, and the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph by a county grand jury was announced on Friday. Each was charged with one misdemeanor count involving a priest accused of taking pornographic photographs of girls as recently as this year. They pleaded not guilty.

The case caused an uproar among Catholics in Kansas City this year when Bishop Finn acknowledged that he knew of the photographs last December but did not turn them over to the police until May. During that time, the priest, the Rev. Shawn Ratigan, is said to have continued to attend church events with children, and took lewd photographs of another young girl.

source

According to the article the bishop knew about this and took it seriously enough to send the priest to live in a convent and avoid contact with minors, then lied to the parishioners to cover it up stating the priest had become ill due to carbon monoxide poisoning.

This is not a "thought crime"

LOL. You're right. They are actual criminals. Well then, that would have saved a lot of time.

Anyway, I still find it amusing (and sad) that there are so many advocates coming to the defense of the prosecution of thoughtcrime. I'll not bother discussing it here anymore though, as it apparently doesn't even apply to the OP.

Thank you for stepping in and backing my views. When it comes to protecting Children we always need to push the point. I am glad he has identified himself and as such I am sure he will be on a 'radar' somewhere being watched by someone who cares.

Much Peace...

Yes I agree with you ...particularly about the possible hanging!

And as we have an advocate on the board that is trying to defend feedom of thought and subsequent 'thoughtcrime' - perhaps we could remove the words Child pornography and insert 'freedom to hang'?!
Just a thought...

Much Peace

Get rid of the corrupt catholic church - what does this church believe in? The sainted Virgin Mary. And she would cry at all the sins of that church.

Jesus? He would want nothing to do with that church.

God? He wants nothing to do with that church also.

I exhort you to get out of that church. Go and read Ezekiel, who came to me - the Catholic church is damned.

I don't know but I always wondered if the celibacy restrictions for priests had anything to do with it.

many catholics themselves say this. Because of the celibacy and not being allowed to marry the catholic church seems to be a magnet for these types of people. I know in Ireland a lot of catholics would like to see this rule changed as most of them have completely lost trust in the church.

If you have a married priest its more likely they're a "normal" person and you would have more trust in this dept. i've even heard people say they're scared to let their child join a church choir for the fear of what might be going on.

That's more or less what I was thinking.

The reason I said I wonder about it is, I don't really have any good statistics to back it up.

I also don't think all priests are perverts, I'm sure many are good.

But unless the news media is insanely biased, just from news reports, the Catholics do seem to have more than their fair share of abusers in the clergy ranks. I'm sure abuse occurs in other religions too, but as you say, it may be less frequent since the married ministers do seem to have a more normal life compared to celibate priests. Or maybe as you say the priesthood attracts statistically more deviant types to begin with. I really don't know, but the Catholic church should be investigating this in a screening process or something to avoid recruiting deviant clergy.

On the other hand, they may have so few applicants anymore that they may be desperate for what they can get. If they don't do a better job policing themselves, I suspect the days of the Catholic church may be numbered. people have lost patience with them. Cases like this don't help.

dannimoss.wordpress.com...

robertpriddy.wordpress.com...

I found the statistics when I did the research a few months back but I can't find them anymore. The news IS insanely biased because protestants and progressives both hate the church and its orthodox stance. There would be so many people defending Islam if they were accused of violence in this thread and say "don't generalize", but because it's the catholic church they will not say "don't generalize" and apply the same standard here. It's permissible to be anti-Catholic, but do it to the Jews and everyone cries foul.
