Enormous Ring is Developing on the Sun!

It takes the sun about 34 days to rotate at its poles, but only 26 days at its equator. Any type of anomyly like this will produce a circular shape. Nothing to worry about.

Fascinating. Obviously must be talking about the surface, not the core.
But does that mean the image we see in the OP is centred on a pole?

I just download the latest SOHO pic of the Sun, it is dated yesterday afternoon. Can
someone tell me how often they refresh the pictures taken?

If that's the same side it looks like the circle is dissipating.
Also in regards to this ongoing argument.. I'm really considering ignoring 0ne10, but i hate to ignore anyone because I don't want to miss out if they post something substantial. 0ne10 is that what you are going for?
