I had actually considered buying some after i saw a video on coacoa plantations in africa that still used slavery.
I'm looking into microfinance at the moment and was wondering about buying maybe six slaves and buying them a fishing boat and freeing them after they pay off the investment plus 10%.

problem is buying them is illegal even if unenforced and buying them feeds the market for more.
even if done for good motives.
but iheard the price was in the $200 range
undrlying motive was to get them out of that hell without bankrupting myself or going to jail.
so i gave up on the idea...

Morality, liberty the whole afront to god thing aside

I couldn't afford the upkeep and like a car a slave would lose value the moment you took it off the lot and everyday after making it a very poor investment.

If I were some sort of caracature of an industrialist complete with all the absurd stereotypes of attributed to one Ebeneezer Scrooge perhaps I could afford the upkeep and justify the investment with labor costs but in this day and age I imagine articles branded "slave made" would be difficult to sell though Nike still sells shoes so who knows.

Hardly an affront to God. God wholeheartedly approves. Just read the following:

Leviticus 25:44-46
Exodus 21:2-6
Exodus 21:7-11
Exodus 21:20-21
Ephesians 6:5
1 Timothy 6:1-2
Luke 12:47-48

According to the last part Christian slaves would be the best, since they are supposed to obey their masters as they would Christ.

Kidding aside.

No on slaves. Morality, Costs, Security as well as the whole loss of that feeling of accomplishment for completing something. Closest I could ever see getting to either side of the slavers whip is with a paycheck.

Exactly! In fact I think that is how it happened - I was the slave first.

So many of us are accustomed to the idea of slaves I think because we were created as a race of slaves. Call it the creation theory but I think we were first bred to be utilitarian workers and somehow down the line gained or earned? our freedom. Maybe all the masters left us on our own. Maybe they just assumed more human attributes after interbreeding so much they diluted the line of this "race of masters" (Annunaki?)
These are probably the bossy, self indulgent folks left with a nagging superiority complex and no one to use it on.

I would not buy a slave or a boyfriend, because I don't like people looking up or sideways at me and not treating me as an equal. I would be uncomfortable "owning someone" who knew their life had been purchased to fulfill a task.
I would also be uncomfortable as a slave unless (and this is key) I knew my master considered me as valuable in the scheme of things as they are....and I'd have to be paid very well.

Only because of small minded people and thus the potential for abuse... this becomes a bad idea. I used to have a button that said it all...Don't be so humble, you are not that great.

This means that the greatest, most powerful, the wealthiest and the brightest among us are only those who know they are in the great scheme of things actually no more important than the trash man.

I see your point now that you elaborated a bit more, and entirely agree with you on the fact of "taxes".

But I feel that your argument is only legitimate if we said achieving such seats of power are impossible, which isn't the case (as far as I know).

If you possess the brains, will, sometimes lack of heart, you can find yourself up in the high seat.

By the way, taxes are not bad (generally speaking). How they are implemented is a different story.

But according to you, I can be a slave, but also own a 6 bed room house, new cars, new gadgets, furnished home, take trips to tropical destinations a couple times a year, get drunk, gamble, watch porn, speak my mind, eat steak, run for office, quit my job, move, leave this country, live under a bridge, see a concert, play some video games, laugh at religious zealots, ETC ETC ETC.

No doubt this country is not perfect, but if that is what you call being a slave, count me in!

Human slave, no thanks.
I would buy some type of android and I would want it to look as human as possible.
Thats just me, though. I'm still waiting for my flying car.

would you buy a slave?

Sure, I'd buy a slave. I've always wanted to have a virgin. Nice young girl, quiet, shy...and if I liked it, since she's a slave I could always trade her out for a new one. Buy one while she's still too young to be a useful servant, keep her for a few years, then sell her to someone else to use as a workhorse, then use the proceeds to buy a new slave. Once you're in, it'd probably be fairly cheap to keep trading them out every couple years.

Also how much would you be willing to pay for the slave?

Well, like anything it would depend on the quality of the merchandise. And it would depend on the market. Are slaves being bred here, or are they primarily overseas imports? Obviously I'd prefer to pay less, but if I saw a slavegirl who really caught my eye, sure I'd pay more for her. The first figure that crosses my mind was $500, but if I saw a really cute one with perfect boobs I might go a couple thousand. If it was legal, I'm sure the prices would be in about that range.

So how many ignore lists do you think I just got myself placed on? ^_^

There is no place in modern humanity for slavery. Once people as a society realized that slavery was wrong no one could ever go back to that way of living, society wouldn't allow for it. Think of it not as laws, but social mores. It is no longer acceptable, just as it is no longer acceptable to believe in magic. But, like magic there are still some people who would practice it still.

For the record, I would never own a slave and I would never rest until slavery was completely destroyed. It is a horrible use of a human life.

Q. If slavery was legalized [again], would you buy a slave?
Ans. It depends, if the person is himself/ herself willing to offer service out of interest in exchange of compensation for a period of time then yes. If a person is forced to do it or does it out of duress of due to financial reason then NO.

For eg. In BDSM there are two partners who play roles like master and slave out of their interest. They are not forced to do so.

In such a case yes I would.

Depends on what kind of slavery we're talking about. If we're talking about Deep South 1800s USA slavery, then no. If we're talking beatings and harsh physical labor, then no. If we're talking only a certain race, then no.

But if the slaves come in all shapes and colors, there are laws about treating them well, feeding them clothing them and housing them then I might volunteer myself as a slave. Having your own quarters with enough food to eat, in my opinion, is preferable to the low wage jobs we have today. I'd rather get a sandwich and some ice tea at the end of my hard days work then some green paper.

As for buying one, I might do it if I had the money but it's not like I'd mistreat my slave or make them do a whole mess a work, I really just want somebody to talk to and hang out with when the rest of my friends are busy. Sort of make the slave into the cooler older brother I never had

So what I'm imagining isn't slavery the way we think of it today...

For those of you waiting to hear my wisdom...

This is a very stupid thread, and I am not going to publicize my reply because of embarassment that I even noticed it. Now moving on to my opinion...
I would indeed buy myself as many redheaded male slaves as I possibly could. I would have them feed me the finest gelato imported from Italy, and deliver regular servings of Veggie Booty to my Love Chamber, on platters made of gold, wearing only zorro eye masks and body glitter.
I would further take care very good care of my slaves to make sure they kept a high market value in case I had to trade some of them away to gain important material possesions for myself, such as exclusive Hello Kitty merchandise.
I would also provide them with love of course, because I don't want them to become resentful and organize an uprising. I would however hit them if they decided to start chattering among themselves negatively about their duties, as I frown upon the ungratefullness this country is built on.
My point is, I would buy a slave, and not just one but many, to gain power by exchanging them much like currency when demand for them becomes higher than the supply. I will also pay top dollar for them, so I can make maximum profit when this shortage comes around.

Peace and Love!
