Hello all! As someone who might not vote because of all the conspiracy theories I hear on the great site, I decided to create this thread to learn about Obama and his ideas. In short, are they that inspiring, original and etc.? Are his ideas the sole reason his message is change? Does the hype exist simply because of his message? Or does it mainly boil down to him being African American? Should I vote for him because him being African American implies change and all that? Or are his ideas really that amazing? I need to know
! Enlighten me
. Thanks!

If you can discover what his ideas are then you will have done what no other person on the planet has been able to do. All he says is change and tax the top earners, but that even changed. Now he says he won't do that if we are in a recession but doesn't say how he would raise money without it to fund any of his mysterious change for america. His platform is basically shout CHANGE as a wide sweeping campaign slogan.

He does not have original ideas and he is not going to change anything he is a fraud and made up candidate propped up by the left.
He does not have original ideas and he is not going to change anything he is a fraud and made up candidate propped up by the left.

voting for him because he is black is the greatest piece of racism besides not voting for him because. That Black people are voting in 95% because he is black shows the racist bigotry. They keep this us vs them war still going and their separatist and for us by us shop at only black owned stores and watch BET Network and cast a vote for their own advancement, is sick. Their hatred for all others and their advancement of selves divides.

To be accurate Obama is not all black nor is he the African-Slave-American heritage. He is half black and half white. His family in fact owned a few not many slaves years ago when a English colony and the British made all slaves free.

In society the truth is Color Blind anyone can be a doctor, a lawyer or president. to celebrate or to treat obama special is to say that blacks are inferior and this is some type of achievment.

well it is not.

Also about whites or us crackers. We are all not just " Whitey"

I am french 100% my wife is english 100% do you know how different we are from each other and how many wars we have fought against one an other.

We all came here from somewhere and for some reason. White people have lived hear to become americans we mix mingle inter marry and eventually our races and heritages get watered down and mixed up. We seek to mix with the population as one, One America.

blacks seek to call themselves African's and seek to separate and form their own sub groups for them by them and supported by everyone else if need be. Even things are to be taken from others to give to them. They are annexing from the union to their own culture, Christmas, church, and commerce.

Obama is an empty shell a marketing product. The left wingers cant win an election with dean so they have seek to play kingmaker with a novalty candidate a fairytale campaign under the guise of making so called history and thats the viral marketing right there. Obama is the leftist member of the socialist crowd so he will do and they prop him up and put him and back him.

the price will be obama will do anything they want him to do.

This is not a real or authentic campaign at all, he has no ideas but remixed socialistic and Marxist and some slave reparations and some African centric ideology or theocracy. He will be the head ambassador of the elite blacks.

This is no accident he did not happen on the scene like a rock star and made out to be all that he is.

He has no resume, too young, not enough political conections and no accomplishes, but again he is like an N'Synch or BackStreet or Spice Girls candidate. He is not real nor are his ideas.

He also isnt as smart or eloquent as the media slobs he is nor is he original and nor does he have any true understanding of all the issues nor a real plan. He is part of a left wing plot a gimmic to get the socialist to power. He is the figure head of that movement. He is using their agenda and their plan forwarded and snuck forward on this shinny rock star candidate.

You know one other thing he also is not good looking at ALL!!! He looks like a monkey I mean where are the good looking Black guys like Denzel Washington and all those guys as far as a good looking guy he is not and it funny hearing them try to push that. Even with the Obama girl thing, laughable.

He is not a real candidate and neither do these leftist care about women like they say, they bumped hillary off the ticket, not smart number one because those two could not loose and it shows what the really feel about women. Its all lip service on womens issues its just another so called minority vote they are courting.

He does not have original ideas and he is not going to change anything he is a fraud and m

I have always found this to be true, in every instance: If it sounds to good to be true, it is.

For me the Obama message sounds almost like a sermon on Sunday, bent on moving you emotionally, and changing your mind about the way you live your life. I am all for change, America needs many of them, but Obama cannot personally make the changes he proposes, Congress does have a say, everything is not just up to the president.

I am at a loss this time with the election, the whole damn campaign has been a circus from all parties, but I am mightly afraid that Obama has and will continue to mislead the people.

I find it strange neither candidate has a platform. Other than the mantras, what are they? It sometimes seems after the election in 2000 was stolen, we have been living in a dreamworld.

in politics there are no new ideas, and when a politician speaks people expect them to lie, except for the niave.

once upon a time there used to be a difference between Democrat and Republican these days no difference.

so i guess it doesnt matter who you vote for both candidates are going to screw you over

No, Obama's ideas really suck.

He's now reduced his entire campaign to "I'm not Bush."

Raising taxes isn't cool, especially on U.S. corporations.

Signing the FISA bill to allow telecoms off the hook for eavesdropping on our conversations wasn't cool. That totally sucked, especially after he promised he would filibuster the bill.

Being the first candidate to reject public financing after he said he would take it wasn't cool.

Picking life long D.C. insider Joe Biden as a VP was WAY uncool. Biden's son, Hunter Biden, is a big shot Washington lobbyist who used to be an exec at MBNA credit card company, and who now lobbies the federal government for money for his pharmaceutical clients.

His goal to get rid of all U.S. nuclear weapons isn't cool.

His goal to cut back spending on advanced weapons isn't cool.

His goal to not have any U.S. weapons in space isn't cool since China is already doing it.

His plan to not drill for any oil offshore or in Alaska is WAY not cool since gas here is $3.50 a gallon.

His plan to take our tax money and put it into a government Venture Cap fund to invest with his buddies' alternative energy companies isnt' cool.

His plan to keep tariffs on imported sugar can so we are forced to use Iowa corn for ethanol is so not cool it's not even funny.

Obama's plan to reduce crime? I don't know. This "issue" is totally missing from his website.

Obama's plan to dump $50 billion a year into Africa to fight poverty when we have 37 million people in the U.S. living in poverty isn't cool either.

Come to think of it, I'm not sure any of Obama's plans are cool.

I am not 100% sure where Obama stands on many issues other than gun control and abortion which he has stated and is on the record for. Biden on the other hand is a known Internationalist and promoter of a "New World Order" (this is their words not mine). Below are some cut & paste comments on the issue:

By his own words and actions over the decades that he is for a one world government: a one world banking system, one world religion (new age), one military force, world regional government. Joseph Biden by his own words and actions has been a participant in bringing these United States of America into a one world order

THE THRESHOLD OF THE NEW WORLD ORDER: THE WILSONIAN VISION AND
AMERICAN FOREIGN POLICY IN THE 1990'S AND BEYOND (Senate - June 29,
1992)

devvy.net...

Also,

Biden is in support of General and Complete Disarmament - Public Law 87-297. P.L.87-297, a (so-called) "law" isn't just for nuclear disarmament. It is for general and complete disarmament of our nation and all citizens, and giving our armed forces to the United Nations on a permanent basis. No nation ever did, nor ever can, retain its freedom and liberty once it gives up its armed forces, and armed citizenry.

The political circus makes voting very painful, I like Obama on foreign policy, I like that McCain is a fiscal conservative, but my gut tells me they are both full of shi#. If Obama gets half of his tax policies through I will lose my job(capital gains/windfall profit tax) . In a perfect world we would see a Dave Mustaine/Dimebag Darrell ticket.

I'll sum it up for you.

Obama's ideals = socialism; Marxism; incompatible with Democracy and free trade; gambling with science on renewable energy sources while shunning fuels we can use now like nuclear and oil; supports partial birth abortion; nationalization of health care = horrible idea; taking only those over $250,000? Look what Clinton did - taxed households making > $30,000; wants to give amnesty and path to citizenship for illegal immigrants; Obama's campaign has already tried to limit free speech once on a large scale, will most likely start this in office by re-introducing the Fairness Doctrine; has openly admitted he doesn't trust "whites" and has stated "whites will do you wrong" - making same blanket statements that white people have been guilty of for decades;

So no, not cool at all.

Everything seems to be we need to develop the next generation...etc etc.

But like any politicians ideas they are full of hype and very little detail.

They promise more then they will ever deliver.

Out of all the plans he has to offer, how many pieces of legislation has he offered to address each one?

If he couldn't do the job as a Senator, how will he accomplish it as President.

Oh yea, I forgot. We have to wait till he becomes President before he starts fixing America's ills.

Pelosi is going to use him like a piece of toilet paper.

And to those who say he can't get legislation passed in Congress because he has less power than he would if he was President, I say this....

The guy has more power now than he will as President. The media loves him. He is a star. Congress would have no choice but to go with the flow. In addition, the Democrat led Congress would look like asses for not passing the legislation that their adored candidate has proposed.

Once he is President, the honeymoon with the media will be over relatively quickly and the people who got him elected will return to normal days.

And Pelosi will be grinning ear to ear after each bathroom visit.

Raising taxes isn't cool, especially on U.S. corporations.
yes for reps, raising taxes on the poor is way cooler

Picking life long D.C. insider Joe Biden as a VP was WAY uncool. Biden's son, Hunter Biden, is a big shot Washington lobbyist who used to be an exec at MBNA credit card company, and who now lobbies the federal government for money for his pharmaceutical clients.

His goal to get rid of all U.S. nuclear weapons isn't cool.
I would like to see your sources for that.

His goal to cut back spending on advanced weapons isn't cool.
yes we need to keep enriching the military complex because already being the most advanced military by miles isnt sufficient

His goal to not have any U.S. weapons in space isn't cool since China is already doing it.
Sources please, china doesnt have weapons in space, they barely tested an anti satellite missile which is cold war era technology

His plan to not drill for any oil offshore or in Alaska is WAY not cool since gas here is $3.50 a gallon.
yes lets give more of the same oil for our addiction. For me it is cooler to seek alternative sources of energy

His plan to take our tax money and put it into a government Venture Cap fund to invest with his buddies' alternative energy companies isnt' cool.
being green and energy sufficient isnt cool by republican standards

His plan to keep tariffs on imported sugar can so we are forced to use Iowa corn for ethanol is so not cool it's not even funny.
keeping jobs and industry at home is so uncool

Obama's plan to reduce crime? I don't know. This "issue" is totally missing from his website.
at least he has a plan to reduce crime

Obama's plan to dump $50 billion a year into Africa to fight poverty when we have 37 million people in the U.S. living in poverty isn't cool either.
yes and who do wwe have to thank for all the people in poverty? Thats right, 8 years of Bush. And possibly 4 more years of McCain

Come to think of it, I'm not sure any of Obama's plans are cool.

of course, you are a neocon.

Enlighten me

If you are going to decide who you will vote for, I certainly hope you will do some research on your own instead of depending on a discussion board to tell you what to think.

The reason I'm voting for Obama is because his views and priorities are most closely aligned with mine. AND John McCain has voted with George Bush 95% of the time. So, no matter what he says, he represents another Bush administration. In my opinion, Obama is very inspiring, honest, genuine, caring, intelligent and he is respected around the world.

If you want to know more about Obama, do as I have done. Watch his speeches, read his website, listen to the debates and decide for yourself. That's my advice.
Here are some links that you might find useful.

I STRONGLY suggest this one as it tells the story of his life, his start in politics and his drive and ambition to get into a position where he can make a difference:

Obama Revealed (CNN)

2004 DNC Speech
2008 DNC Speech
"A More Perfect Union" Speech
Obama on the Issues
Blueprint for Change
Barack Obama.com

Now, you can listen to everyone else with all their biased opinions, perceptions and contexts... or you can DENY IGNORANCE by educating yourself and making your very own decision. I highly suggest the latter.

Shall I go into an overgeneralized statement regarding my obvious disdain for a particular candidate, or shall I simply say, your vitriol and socialist claims make it difficult to have any real open debate? I may point to specific policy actions, bills signed in etc from the last 8 years to deduce a particular agenda that Mcain supports (90% voting record). Obama, as I have said, has been rather vague in bringing to light real policy ideas other than "Change". I believe this means that instead of just the Republicans crapping down our throat, the Dems get too a little more. Ease up on your devotion to a "party". It serves you little purpose other than to puff out your chest, imo.

So before Bush was elected, no Americans went hungry, no one was homeless and there was no such thing as poverty, huh? Then Bush came along and screwed it all up, right?

Congrats on a well thought-out post, Oracle.

In the current political set-up, it's pretty much impossible to know who's going to do what.

You certainly can't tell from the politician's speeches or websites, because those are mostly lies and propaganda designed to show them in the "best light" in order to win votes.

You can't even tell for sure by their voting records, due to the standard practice "vote trading" they all take part in (i.e. you vote my way on issue X and I'll vote your way on issue Z).

Even if, by some freak chance, there came a politician who was telling the truth about his/her intentions, they would never be able to get actual "change" through the process due to the inevitable roadblocks thrown up by the system itself.

You might as well just toss a coin do choose who you're going to vote for. It doesn't really make a difference as they're all funded by the same people, and will pretty much do what they're told by their handlers.

Yeah, our political future looks pretty bleak to me.

As far as useless slogans like "being green", you're correct. We would like to live in reality, where oil is the main fuel used by everyone on the planet.

You don't realize it, but you're exactly what guys like me are talking about when we criticize Obama's nebulous speeches. You claim we're addicted to oil, yet its not addiction but necessity. You don't seem to understand that everything on this planet runs on oil. The infrastructure we have in place world wide, is for oil.

You may think you're special for wanting alternative energy source,s but the truth is we all do. Even frothing at the mouth "neocons". The problem is , there is nothing that exists today that is as cost effective as oil. Thats a problem that you cannot solve by "being green". Someday we will have something that is cost effective for everyone, but until than we need to keep getting oil.

I often wonder why you Obama supporters have no problem with everyone in the world drilling for oil of our coast, but you have a problem with YOUR country drilling off its coast.

All I know is this.

I would vote for Obama regardless of what party he ran for.

Why?

I am very inspired by him. He is thoughtful and nuanced. Not like any politician I have ever seen.

That is the very thing we need today. Inspiration to act, to be involved, and to know that you can change the way things are to the way you think they should be.

We have had no real leadership for decades now.

I can't wait for Obama to be President! Because he is unlike any politician we have ever had in my life.

Revamping the administration is automatic. Every new president revamps the administration. That is the same as Obama's pledge to "reduce the number of abortions". Uh, yeah! Every candidate is for reducing the number of abortions.

Joe Biden is known as "The Senator of the MNBA". The corruption in the Biden family is complete.

Regardless of how you feel, we will be dependent upon oil for another decade. All candidates are in favor of alternative fuels; Obama is only for alternative fuels. That shows his lack of knowledge about energy issues.
