It seems Iran is routing some of its parts from the unknowing Europeans.

Article here

“London, Jul. 26 – European firms are unknowingly providing Iran with much-needed nuclear parts which could be used in making nuclear bombs despite efforts by the international community to prevent Tehran from acquiring such a capability, the German weekly der Spiegel wrote on Monday.

The paper said that it had seen secret documents showing that Iran was secretly buying European-made sophisticated nuclear parts via South Korea.

The French firm EADS Sodern was one such company involved in the illegal transactions though it was unaware of the final destination of its exports, the der Spiegel said.

According to the financial records for the deal, Tehran was busy buying 300 units of Nickel 63 (98.720 dollars) from the South Korean Kyung-Do Enterprises through an Iranian company called Partoris.

This radioactive material is needed for firing electrons used in a nuclear bomb’s trigger mechanism. Though this material can also be used in peaceful nuclear energy reactors, Tehran had requested units with a higher isotope level….”

Well well well…

I thought the article said France was sending Iran Nuclear weapon parts... unknowingly...

Surely it's the South Korean government that has to crack down on this? I'm sure if the French firm knew where the product was going to end up they wouldn't have sold it, but last time I checked South Korea was on our side.

Precisely, the article doesn't really say much worth debating. Plus when you research into the newspaper claiming to have "a secret report" (lol), they don't seem to have much credibility in terms of "real" news.

One of the main points of criticism that is brought against the Spiegel concerns the language that is cultivated in the magazine. In 1957 the writer Hans Magnus Enzensberger published his essay Die Sprache des Spiegel (“The Language of the Spiegel”), in which he criticised what he called a "pretended objectivity". Wolf Schneider, an eminent journalist and stylist has called the Spiegel "the biggest mangler of the German language" and used quotations from the magazine as examples of bad German for his style guides. Recently the Spiegel has joined the ranks of the language guardians with the "Zwiebelfisch" column on the magazine's website which even spawned a best-selling book.

Some critics, in particular the Augstein biographer and former Spiegel writer Otto Köhler, have brought charges against the magazine's dealings with former Nazis, even SS officers. It is alleged that the Spiegel, which at other times had no qualms about exposing the Nazi past of public figures, may have distorted history and protected perpetrators when it hired these insiders to write about Third Reich topics.

Politicians who had to deal with the magazine often voiced their disaffection for it. Outspoken conservative Franz Josef Strauß contended that Der Spiegel was "the Gestapo of our time", and Socialist Willy Brandt called it "Scheißblatt", i.e. a "crappy paper".

So I would say there is nothing worth commenting on yet. Still keep an eye out for other reports about this.

"WE don't do body counts"

that quote was one of the most debated things on this forum at one time. So please avoid saying theirs not much to debate, trust me this forum will argue about rocks.

Why would anyone care? Why is it really that surprising?

A fully capable nuclear Iran is in the best interest of Europe.

As I , and others have tried to point out; this is all about the sale of oil being converted to Euros. If Iran can stave off America long enought to develop it's weapons, then they will probably go full gorward with the conversion. That being the case, why would'nt Germany (or Eruope in general) help every chance they get

Another thing to think about. It is mainly America/Israel that are up in Arms about Iran posessing Nuc. Tech, not the rest of the world. Do you assume that just because Bush made some proclamation, that the rest of the world will immediately fall in line? As hard as it may be to fathom, the USA is not the center of the globe.

GO IRAN!!!

I'll just have to laugh when we or israel hit those sights and spread that material all over the countryside. Anyway, we americans should boycott france and germany for their participation.

So, Europe is in the wrong here? Where is your condemnation of South Korea for actually selling the parts? How could you possible skip over that skippy? And Seekerof didn't even blink at this.

Nope, no agenda there.
