Hi all

I bought some mecano of ebay a few weeks ago.
Ive just got round to having a look and see what mistake Ive bought yet again lol.
It came in a shoe sized box and seems to be vintage.
Theres bends and bits of rust (file and rubber mallet job)
Some motors which i cant see any terminals on but will do some messing around.
Theres a pringle tube full to the brim with cogs and pullys.

I bought it because I have spare time.....

B.S
The truth is I got drunk and crawled home.
When I eventualy made it back to safe haven (with a few bruises)
I had no bloody electric (CRAP SMART METERS)
So im sitting in my flat with luckily a charged fone and a torch and looking on the web.
I had an apythany,,,,FREE ELECTRIC.

So started reading and as usual came across tesla and the other thinkers.
"PERPETUAL MOTION IS IMPOSSIBLE" they said.

I knew an old electrician/electronics guy and he said
"You will never get more out than you put in".

Is it...I thought..
Its possible but you might get bumped off (hope its quick).

Sorry trailed off.
So ive got this mecano and theres a wooden box in it.
Its about 80mm x 170mm and it has a bit of weight on it
Its nailed together so i dont want to take it apart to see what it is....yet
Its got LEDs and what looks like a shopping list lol.

I think its a school project from maybe the 1980s.
Maybe a sort of press a button and the LED lights up on bread to
let mum know theres none left lol
all insights are appreciated.

cheers

What was/is the ebay item number so we can see the original listing if it's still available.

I would have jemmied it open ages ago, broken it, put it back together and ebayed it in a box of other bits by now... lol

I think you've answered your own question. It does look like a shopping list reminder for mom.

However, two observations:

1. The person could have been more frugal and efficient if bacon, bread and butter had been grouped together as "Bacon Butty"; and brown sauce should be included, too.

2. The person's mother must be very forgetful if a list is needed to remember the essentials for bacon butties.

In any case, it's a cool discovery for a drunken shopping spree.

Glad you went for brown sauce (HP, no less).

If you'd have said Tommy sauce I'd have had to have a word!.

Personally, I also have marmalade with it, but that's just me...

Absolutely! Tommy is reserved for fried or scrambled egg sandwiches.

Marmalade and bscon, sure. Maple syrup, too.

Drunk Ebay shopping is for the youngsters, wait until you get Dementia and you will see some real adult behaviour going on . I am not a hoarder , I am a collector I try and tell people especially all the delivery drivers who I am on first name terms with .

Have plenty sheds /garages and cupboard / attic space for what I call dementia days as everyday is like Christmas with all the lovely presents I send me .

One click and the item is yours, well I have been clicking like a demented ADHD sufferer when it comes to buying artwork on ebay and other sites online ,OTT is putting it mildly just since covid started I have packed plastic storage boxes that are 18 FOOT high by 27 inches by 18 inches full of art works and I do mean packed !.

Yes I did try and get help
but for some strange reason people laugh at this addiction and brush it off .

Now if you want to talk tool addiction go ahead as that is even worse than my art collection, I am running out of space here
.

So don't knock yourself for 1 little drunken splurge , know that in the future it will get much much worse

Being an old carpy, I can't resist buying unnecessary carp fishing tackle on eBay. Particularly carp bite alarms. My latest purchase was a remote polyphonic set where the remote is an MP3 player.

So when I get a run my fellow carpers get treated to AC/DCs Thunderstruck rather than bleeping.

I just hope when I pop my clogs Mrs Carpy doesn't flog my stuff on eBay for what I told her I paid.....

It all started with me because not one family member answered my text message to check on me on the Monday , Just when the lock down started with covid I thought I was snuffing it with abother heart attack and got no answer from either the doctors office and the hospital told me if I turned up in a taxi I would be turned away
.

So no point in leaving the family all the money in a easy to get bank account , nope they are going to have to work for it and re- sell everything
.

But they are not the sharpest tools in the box my family , you could have a one of Rolls Royce in perfect condition and they would phone the scrappy and ask how much he charges to take away old cars ikyn ,

I did keep all the boxes the stuff came in , which covers my whole attic space but the money I have blown on ebay is easy 50 k
