So Ford has decided to go Progressive and join Budweiser / InBev because you know, most of their customer base really likes this kind of crap. No biggie, I just want to get some popcorn and see how this one plays out since you know.... Progressives usually shun trucks and all. I am sure this is going to win lots of customers.

Who in the hell markets for these companies? What is next, Progressive AR15 commercials?

I got nothing...

He said it correctly it makes no sense at all.

I would love someone to explain how this marketing makes any sense at all.

Gee, they have a twenty four can case of Bud or bud light here at Meijers for eighteen ninety something and a fifteen dollar internet rebate on the case. That makes twenty four cans for less than four bucks. Hmmm. Too bad I don't drink beer much anymore.

They can do that with Fords if they want, I will buy one if they have a twenty five grand rebate on a Bronco.

What is next, Progressive AR15 commercials?

I predict that we will see some kind of
"Woke-A-Cola" in a snazzy rainbow colored can.
Of course, it will be a totally non-carbonated
beverage, because billions of people belching out
greenhouse gases for no good reason except to
to get their "fizzy fix " is just so wrong.

It almost feels like a survey.

A woke-meter that measures wokeness across consumer demographics through advertising.

It’s not too profitable for all these companies participating though.

I’m starting to see all these things Bud/Ford/ etc like a metaphor as to America/made in America being infiltrated and taken over. And it needs to be taken back.

Nothing new. Ford shot themselves in the foot with the 1958 to 1960 Edsel.
Edsel, Wiki
They did it once, they'll do it again.

Those rainbow colors might be collector items in 60 years...

Getting the same feeling. We'll be seeing more.

I'm curious.
Since I started working for a subcontractor for Madaz here in Japan, I noticed that much of the car components come from China and are installed here in Japan.

I wonder if Ford has Chinese parts that are shipped to Mexico and installed ?

Ford VP Marketing is Natalie Baccarin, another woman.

and

H&K , that does manufacture firearms, recently stepped in Woke politics, then quickly backed off.

Yep.
That Ford ad will crush F-150 sales.
No normal heterosexual guy will now want to be seen in a F-150

Last time I priced work trucks when an f150 was 50 grand, twice that with work equipment.
Dodge was cheaper, but nobody buys a dodge planning to make a profit.

Didn't price new Chevy because you can't find any...

I never liked Ford but they dominate the market for everyday working trucks around here.

Maybe this is a 4d chess move by the marketing wanketeers, infiltrate marketing departments of companies still making a profit in the US and reduce them to this....

Meanwhile the CCP is well positioned to destroy what's left of the US.
Half of our leadership works for them directly, and it just gets worse going down the chain.

It’s either a CMO with zero sense doing a dumb thing with their marketing team.

Or

It might be that the CMO is woke and friends with the CMO at InBev and a truck boycott is not going to work the way a beer boycott does and so this Ford campaign will be held up to “prove” boycotts don’t work — but if they say thus it will have the opposite effect on their customers since their customers know trucks should last 10-20 years.

So it won’t work either way. It probably has something to do with Chinese money. And everyone involved is a moron.

Ya'll are just mad the Gay Truck beat the Heterosexual Truck in the race.

Admit it.

You hate not being celebrated above everyone else.

Plastic.

It worked on the frogs, right?

Took more years for the college educated wanketeers, but now it's leaking into marketing leadership, and even "design" which is art majors who don't know how to make anything

Why else is form over function in almost every single vehicle on the road in the US?

I had a Honda commuter in the 80s that was cheaper to buy, own, maintain, etc than a brand new Toyota economy car, even accounting for the increase in fuel, purchase price, and repairs.

It was built to do its job.
Like men, trucks, beer, and shoes used to be.

I could not care less if a car company decides to market to gay men, there is probably a preferred vehicle or style in that population.

But, I also think you’ll find a lot of gay men are not interested in being marketed to as if they were petulant children and lumped in with LGBTQIA’s+etc

Same goes for lesbians.

Automotive marketing is mostly paid for by the local dealer networks and they don’t have any interest in doing anything other than moving metal.

If you can’t walk in and buy a car tomorrow, you are not part of their target audience.

The manufacturers used to make most of their profit on the auto loans until interest rates flatlined, a significant reason GM was bailed out, but theoretically they are back to making some money on the loans these days — but again, if their revenue mix is back to a significant return on loans, not a lot of zoomers qualify as they are not adults.

So none of the campaign makes sense from a marketing perspective.

If you’re trying to build brand equity with future consumers for big ticket items, using a fad in your advertising is almost certainly a terrible idea.

At best, whoever did the ad has no understanding of how vehicle brands are marketed, who markets them (both manufacturers and local dealer networks) and what the marketing goals are for this particular industry.
