As to the British mindset, well the last thing in the world that the former British empire amounted to was anything reminiscent of the sorts, quite the opposite in point of fact.

People in power right now here in the UK hardly amount to leftists nether nor have done for near enough a decade and change.

What we are witnessing right now is a powerplay land grab by Putin via his invasion of Ukraine in an attempt to return his nation to something reminiscent of the former USSR by my guess.

Something that's never going to be allowed to happen and for very good reason.

True but there are mirrors up there any high school now with a science lab can muster together a laser then aim at very specific coordinates and then measure the time it takes the light to return. They been doing that in Technical institutes like MIT around the globe for decades, heck now it's so affordable a backyard astronomer can do it.
