The same goes for the pride parades that people take their kids to, which sound harmless on the surface, yet they all have men gyrating in assless chaps and other overtly sexual displays. Either you haven't looked into what is going on or you just don't care.

Well, that's their parents choice. Nudity isn't a big deal to me. It's our natural form. No sense in hiding it from kids as supression is worse than just being open about our humanity. Nudity doesn't mean sex.

It's nothing new either. Some parents choose to restrict nudity and some are more open about it. In my opinion, in this day and age, it's better to be open about nudity and sexuality so it's not such a taboo subject. As it's better to be open, than hide it and let kids find out through the internet later on.

But, all under parental discression and sensible approaches of course. Like, taking a young kid (non-teenager) to a PRIDE event is probably not a good idea.

Anyway, point being, the gov. shouldn't have to baby sit our kids. That's a parents job. If ppl really think drag shows are an issue then go ahead and restrict them. I don't really care. I just think we're making a big deal out of nothing.

Afterall, sexual predators come in all shapes and sizes. Restricting trans shows isn't going to suddenly stop pedos from pedoing. Good parenting and watching out for each other is.

And oddly enough the numerous nude beaches in Florida allow children. Children are allowed in R rated movies full of sex if they're with a parent. But a drag queen reading a book is just going too far?

Yes the difference is you're offended by drag queens. If a parent chooses to take a child to a story time or an R rated movie or a nude beach that's their choice. No?

It prohibits "Adult cabaret performance" means a performance in a location other than an
adult cabaret that features topless dancers, go-go dancers, exotic dancers, strippers,
male or female impersonators who provide entertainment that appeals to a prurient
interest, or similar entertainers, regardless of whether or not performed for consideration"

In Tennessee, a "adult cabaret" is simply the term they use for any adult-oriented venue. As I said, if I were to throw an adult themed party at my private home, Tennessee would consider my home an adult cabaret while the party was ongoing.

The legal definition overrides your personal definition or any connotation you take from the words.

If children are present (or are welcome), adult cabaret performances under Tennessee law are already illegal. All this law does is include cross-dressers as potential adult entertainers and drop the loophole that says the performers get paid somehow. It does not say all cross dressers are adult performers; it says they can be based on whether the performance is prurient or not.

And Kansas today passed their new law to forbid a transgender kid from playing in a sport as the sex they identify with. No big deal right? Well, except that if there is a challenge to the kid, then they will allow an inspection of the child's genitals.

Yeah, that's the price you pay when people start breaking the rules. People were so pleased when drag queens were having story time... but when the consequences of pushing that agenda occur, suddenly we're worried about the kids?

I want to see the text of that law, please.

Right because 11 children in Kansas out of 108,000 is so concerning. Like I said, all fine and dandy until little Mary smashes the other team and Suzie's mom insists Mary is transgender. Then Mary may be subject to her genitals peeped at.

Then there will be outrage. Just like the whole "back the blue" "Just Comply" and prison conditions or banning abortion. It was all fine and good when it targeted people that weren't liked. When it happened to them, suddenly it's a whole different story. We have seen it here on ATS.

I don't feel like looking up the bill text, you could do so if you like. Numerous articles out of Kansas. Here's one:

Oh, I have sat through some of the videos... disgusting as it is to me, I figure it's worth the torment to protect the kids.

i take it that when you say you've "sat through some of the videos.... for the kids" you mean that you've watched whatever horrible footage the Fox brigade have managed to dig up and throw around and NOT the videos posted by Sookie that i'm referring to, am i right? Because if your response to two videos of people dressed up silly reading storybooks and one of someone doing a makeup tutorial is, what did you say, "so disgusting everyone will look away" and you think that's anything but your own inherited bias and fear speaking then MAN have i got some earth shattering news for you.

You've been watching handpicked, intentionally provocative, tiny tiny fragments of footage of something you have no wider context for, and you're getting hyper aggressive at the wrong people for the wrong reasons.

Drag has existed in some form or another for more than a century, and drag culture has been a thing since the 70's, but now in 2023 you see five seconds of bad footage of a single person and all of a sudden the whole thing is dangerous and sickening and must be abolished. Yes, there are unsafe individuals involved in drag, just as there are in all other walks of life.
Want an analogy?
You're like someone seeing footage of a school shooting and going THE SOUTH HAS GONE TOO FAR WE MUST ELIMINATE THEM.
You're like a big dumb horse who's never been to the ocean but heard scary stories about octopuses from another big dumb horse, and now you've got professional divers in the thread going "woah boy it's okay, octopuses can't shoot lazer beams from their eyes" but you're frantic and you're lashing out.

You're attacking children. You better stop. Fair warning.

thank you for proving my point, and also for the threat. oooooooh i better stop! bet that made you feel real tough, huh? now listen;
you know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about me. not one thing. but you feel safe THREATENING me simply because i'm in this thread demonstrating a better knowledge of a subject than yours. Sounds like you're a real safe one around kids yourself!

be seen as a woman by others. Ever. It cannot happen.

damn man, i was gonna leave it there but you are just too hilarious. IT CANNOT HAPPEN oh my god you're a scream! i hate to shake your poor lil worldview twice in one post but you better believe that trans women are being treated as women EVERY SINGLE DAY. You yourself have probably done it! Because, as i've pointed out to you before, you can't tell who is trans and who isn't. So when you go and get your coffee in the morning and you say "hi" to the nice young lady behind the counter, you could be treating a trans woman like a woman! oh noo! but the chromosomes!!!!
i'm afraid you're either going to have to accept that you will and almost certainly have treated some trans women like women yourself, or you're going to have to go around doing genetic tests on people before you address them.
I'm sorry! Trans people are just people! You don't HAVE to be a creep about it!

He will never have a child.

Infertile cis women are now no longer women, everyone! you heard it here first from the gigantic brain of tHeReDnEcK who knows exactly what he's talking about, isn't confused and ignorant and lost, and isn't taking it out on people he doesn't understand at all

Pretty easy to tell if someone is trans when that "woman" has a better beard than you....

Texas is going all in with two proposed bills. This will make any business that has a performer "wear makeup or clothing of a different gender" be considered a "sexually oriented" business and would require additional licensing and taxes.

All fine and good right? So now any theater that has certain Shakespeare plays, the musicals Hairspray or Rent will now be a sexually oriented business?

What about a concert by a female performer who sings while wearing a suit and tie like the very beautiful Janelle Monae? All male performers wear makeup on stage. Who decides if their glittery shirt is feminine clothing and they gyrate their hips?

Concerts from Twisted Sister? What if 80s fashion makes a return and men go back to wearing cropped mesh shirts while performing?

Does anyone actually think these things through before they put these bills together or is just performance outrage to appeal to a subset of voters?

ā€œThereā€™s a whole bunch of things that donā€™t fit neatly into the definition of drag but would fall under the purview of this bill,ā€ Gooch said.

If passed, the legislation would have wide-ranging impacts on small and large businesses around the state ā€” from coffee shops to bookstores and theaters ā€” because it would require them to choose between stopping drag events or taking on additional licensing requirements and taxes. Critics say the proposals stem from the legislatorsā€™ willful misrepresentation of drag.Under this legislation, these events and other nonsexual performances of drag queens would be deemed inappropriate for children. The law would force those establishments to be classified as sexually oriented businesses, which would limit where they could operate.

So far, none of the bills define what kinds of clothes or makeup lawmakers consider to be exhibitive of which gender. The lawmakers also havenā€™t explained why clothes or makeup make someoneā€™s appearance sexual.

sure, SOME trans women are very visibly trans. But some aren't. And some cis women have a lot of facial hair too! i don't know if you've been around any other humans lately but we're a really very varied group

i dunno man, like i get why you're replying to the post you wish i'd made instead of the one i did - it can't be easy being so helplessly outclassed by the way i actually know what i'm talking about after all - but since anyone can just click the post you're responding to and see that i actually kinda said the opposite of what you're alleging i'm really not sure what you think you're gonna gain from it

Feeling a little threatened are we?

Never said you didn't know what you were talking about. But, I guess you can keep thinking what you want, if it makes you feel any better about yourself. Bless your heart

BTW: There is thing little thing called punctuation, you should try using it every once in a while. Make yourself look as smart as you think you are.

Adult Cabaret: Pretty sure if you are filming live sex act in the middle of Cumberland Ave in Knoxville, TN adjacent to the campus for a straight pornoā€¦you would be arrested as well. Assuming you were not plowed by traffic before they got there, that is a very busy street.

And that is the whole point of laws. You sacrifice a bit for the greater good. Because people with a strong sense of right and wrong and an unlimited access to serious firepower, can stop ā€œDrag Queen Story Hourā€ in schools very quickly without the paperwork of tickets, fines, fees, jails and wasting the courtā€™s time.

Canā€™t corrupt minors, but get to continue your fetish in an appropriate venue. Isnā€™t that a win? 1981 (the last actual lynching in the US) wasnā€™t that long ago. Some say 1989 but he was dead before they chained him to the truck and drug the body around.

Why the hostile aversion? People donā€™t see Corporal Klinger as a point of reference, they see RuPaulā€™s Drag Show. Those are not the guys in drag you want your child to sit on their lap and be read a story. And no, they donā€™t do that (do they?)ā€¦but that is what people think.
