The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The court alleges he is responsible for war crimes, including the unlawful deportation of children from Ukraine to Russia.

It says the crimes were committed in Ukraine at least from 24 February 2022 - when Russia launched its full-scale invasion.

Moscow has denied allegations of war crimes during the invasion.

The ICC has charged Mr Putin with being involved in the deportation of children, and says it has reasonable grounds to believe he committed the acts directly, as well as working with others.

The court also said the Russian leader failed to exercise his rights to stop others who deported children.

Russia's commissioner for children's rights, Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova, is also wanted by the ICC.

www.bbc.co.uk...

Okay, so Russia will ignore this and/or claim it's more evidence that everyone's out to get them and it's not fair!!!! And it's unlikely he'll ever be brought to trial!

But at least Putin and his cohorts crimes are being taken seriously

Russia is not a member of the ICC, so the ICC lacks any authority to actually do anything. To be fair, the US isn't a member either. It's why George Bush was never arrested he was charged with war crimes.

True. It's only modern, civilised, countries that are members.

But the point is that his kidnapping of children has been recognised by the grown-ups as being a crime.

Sure.

As soon as a terrorism warrant is issued for Biden for blowing up NordStream....

President Biden has been involved in the abuse of children and trafficking. He keeps international routes out of Mexico open for The traffickers.

Where is his ICC arrest warrant?

There were 'rumours' that early on, the Spetsnaz targeted specific areas where they believed there were children being held for trafficking.
I read one report from a reputable source that 16 children were found in one. The youngest 7 the eldest a girl aged 14. Three of the children spoke English, one was from France if memory serves. If true, he has leverage.
If Putin has been gathering any information on the West's nefarious involvement in Ukraine, I bet there are some 'hot' phone call's happening. Let's face it, ex-head of the KGB is all about information gathering on the enemy.
I don't believe anything will come of this.

Victor's Justice: The Truth About the International Criminal Court

An excerpt :

As a well-known adage holds: "To the victor go the spoils." But it might well add: "Meanwhile, the losers go to the gallows."

This is the logic of victor's justice. It is the logic of the Treaty of Versailles, which demanded unpayable reparations from the vanquished German nation. It is the logic of the Tokyo War Crimes Tribunal, where perpetrators of war crimes pronounced judgment on the war crimes of the defeated. It is the logic of Abu Ghraib, where the US military tortured and killed its enemy captives. ...

I would love for Russia to issue a warrant for the arrest of the ICC members. Fight fire with fire.

Really, this is beyond ridiculous. It's just downright sad. Give some people a title and they think they rule the world. The ICC has absolutely no authority over Russia or any Russian citizen, including Vladimir Putin. I almost wish someone would try to arrest Putin... they wouldn't last long enough to finish the words, "Vladimir Putin, you are under arrest for" RATATATATATATATA! RATATATATATATATA! BANG! BOOM! BANG!

There wouldn't be enough left to ship back home for burial, and that's assuming they made it to within sight of the man! Just like Biden, Putin is surrounded by trusted, elite security forces licensed to kill every moment of every day!

But this does serve a purpose, and that's what makes it really, really sad. This is propaganda and rhetoric designed to foment anger against Putin in his own country. It won't work. Russians are not hypnotized by the UN like we in the West are. What is will do is polarize Putin's followers to support him even more, as Russians will see it for the laughable attempt to manipulate them it is. It will also let Putin know that, yes, he is truly "on his own" and cannot expect one iota of cooperation over any grievances he might have; he now knows, if he didn't already, that is is Russia against the world. All hope of peace talks was just shattered into a billion shards of uselessness.

Yep. Romania is getting close... watch.

I wouldn't be at all surprised in maybe years to come, that we will all find out that Ukraine was the 'smoke and mirror' the 'decoy duck' to cover up Romania.

If he travels to a member state that state would be obliged to arrest him when he steps off the plane.

So he probably won't travel which means no attending a lot of international conferences etc.

How embarrassing for him.

Shame there is no warrant for Blair.

They would have authority to arrest him if he visits a member state.

It's just that internally Russia does not recognise the ICC and as we know from the two FSB agents wanted over here in connection with the Salisbury Novichok thing, they don't extradite.

OK, so the Kremlin has called this "outrageous".
They are not happy with this 'poke the bear' then?
This from Medvedev

Medvedev, who held the top job in the Kremlin between 2008 and 2012 before handing it back to Putin, tweeted: "The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant against Vladimir Putin. "No need to explain WHERE this paper should be used."

Actual real Judges, having seen evidence, have ruled that there is enough to issue this warrant.

What is "laughable" about due legal process?

As for Russians seeing anything, they only see what the State lets them.
