First a joke:

"What did the salad say to the fridge"?

"Close the door, I'm dressing".

On a more serious note, many commercial salad dressings are full of sugar, and other processed crap.

And then there's the ubiquitous "olive oil" and "balsamic vinegar" dressing.
Absolutely hideous, and apparently you hardly find this in Italy (or the Med. countries) at all.
(Just a hint - when in Rome, don't ask for that.)

Here are some alternative dressing ideas:

Ekadeshi - Quinoa Salad.

Honestly, I never prepare it.

Mainly because Quinoa is not a local crop, and is only imported for the rich.
But that may vary globally.

Somewhat unrelated: the slug and the conspiracy?

(You know, I don't have enough for a thread, but I'm intrigued.)

I know this isn't salad, but here is a great blueberry pancake recipe, made from scratch:

1 Cup flour
1 Teaspoon baking powder
1/4 Teaspoon salt
2 Tablespoons sugar (or more, to taste)
1 Cup milk
1 Egg
1 Cup blueberries
6 Teaspoons butter - for frying

Mix flour, baking powder, salt and sugar
Separately mix milk and egg
Then mix together, don't overmix
Toss in blueberries at the end

Warm up frying pan or griddle very well for at least 2 minutes, using butter sparingly
1/3 cup of mix for each pancake, when bubbles come to top and burst they can be turned over, usually a minute or two

Enjoy!

I love love love Italian dressing. I always make sure I get "Lite" Italian though for better health.

I'll add some ACV but it varies but I really like coconut oil-based dressings here recently
Ingredients

4 SERVINGS
1 Tbsp. coconut oil
1 tsp. soy sauce
1/2 tsp. honey
1/8 tsp. ginger (Minced or grated)
1 dash red pepper flakes

And here I was going to say that an oil mixed in proportion with an acid and seasoned as you desire is about the best way to go. Of course, your oil and acid do not have to be olive and balsamic.

Not sure of other countries, but we also have this proliferation of supermarket prepackaged soup.

Like deceptively home-style looking "soup in a bag".

It ranges from vegetarian butternut to beef and whatnot.

Convenient and tasty?

YIp, it scores high there.

But boy in the fine-print is it loaded with hidden sugars and salt!

Not a train-smash, but skip one energy drink.

This video lost me at the 'extra virgin olive oil'.

The first pressing of the olives is to clean the machinery and not for consumption. It is used for a lubricant, burned in lamps, or thrown out. Anyone from Greece will laugh at you for using it.

I'm a big soup eater as well as healthy as possible ramen noodles, zucchini noodles make a decent substitute

Much better to use bone broth and get dehydrated veggies in bulk if you enjoy the convenience and shelf life. Even when I used bone broth I'll use just use a touch of soup base but about a 1/8th of what a regular recipe calls for. Oh and a touch of ACV, lol I put that stuff in just about every sauce soup or dressing
I throw in a little Kimchi and pickling spices sometimes as well

Greek Salad recipe:

Call me fussy, but nothing makes the heart sink into the Mariana Trench faster than a "Greek salad" with leaves!

For heaven's sake, make a garden salad with olives and feta, just do me one enormous favor ... don't call it a "Greek Salad" if you add leaves.

One of those supper parties you've been craving for weeks.
(In fact, the hosts are a Professor and his wife.)

What we having?

Oh Chow Mein with Greek salad.

The salad is butter lettuce with three olives

A surreptitious peek into the dustbin - oh there's the 20 olive pips and the 2-Minute noodle packages.

Hey, at least we've got wine.

I mean you think of eggs.

Yeah Turkish maybe.

Yet put an egg in gazpacho - go back to Russia!

A can of tuna?

Nah, that's full of micro-plastics.

Just add it, you're 25 percent synthetic already anyway.
