On the NBC news I saw where the wife and kids of some guy were leaving to go to a different country. The guy said that guys in their fighting age...which I do not know the range...were not allowed to leave the country...basically they are drafted to fight the war.
So is this considered voluntarily staying to fight?
All fatality estimates are limited to acute deaths from nuclear explosions and would be significantly increased by deaths occurring from nuclear fallout and other long-term effects.

Would you stay and fight to the death in the face of such overwhelming firepower?

No. That poster would just post on here 24/7 about how it was all Biden's fault.

Where did you get those silly numbers from? According to Ukrainians they have 130,000 active service personnel at the time of the "invasion". Russia on the other hand "invaded" with about 150,000. That's out of a million active personnel. So if Putin was serious about violently taking the Ukraine do you not think he would use a more overwhelming force?
Things aint what people think, it should (but might not, how regimes like to keep these things secret, like the US) be clearer when it's over.

If he is actually arming every male from whatever to sixty, he could be making the biggest mistake ever made. Most countries are trying to get the guns back off their citizens for the simple reason, they are nervous about an armed peasantry.

IMO: Russia was doing its best to show restraint, giving Ukrainians the time and roads to evacuate the country. Dropping just enough bombs to send them the message that this is serious, and they should leave ASAP....and come back later, when it's safe to do so.
But for some reason President Zelensky didn't take Putin seriously...either before or after the invasion started. He told everyone to stand their ground and fight with whatever they could find to use as a weapon.
From 2.26.2022: thehill.com...
Bad idea. Many Ukrainians who would have left, are now being killed.
Example from today: www.the-sun.com...
Was Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky's urging of civilians to "stay and fight" a wise thing to suggest?
After all, it's been known for weeks that over 150,000 Russian soldiers, armed with Guns, Tanks, Missile Launchers, Jets, Helicopters, Ships, etc.., have been preparing to invade/take the country of Ukraine.
Urging civilians to stay and "Give em hell!", in the face of such overwhelming firepower was not smart, IMO.
What do you think?
How many dads/moms/children are dying right now, who would have been safe in a neighboring country, if Zelensky had not urged them to stay?

From that source....

Doesn't look like they even considered the effects of nuclear winter. People down south might survive for a few months, but that's it. Without photosynthesis, civilization is done.
Even a "small" nuclear war between India and Pakistan would reduce the world's agricultural outputs by 40% which could lead to the deaths of 1-4 BILLION people.
