The one thing I like about The Tennessean is that for the most part they stick to reporting the facts and not conjecture.

As of Friday the state-wide total of cases is 39,444. There have been 577 "virus-related" deaths. There are 2,498 people in hospitalization and 25,753 recoveries.

They still doom porn the hell out of the new cases on the major news channels.

Apparently, there are some technical difficulties going on with the state's surveillance system, so it's making it difficult for COVID-19 information to be disseminated.

Also, the majority of cases are now coming from "unknown origins." Which really just means that people are no longer able to identify if they got it from a coworker or family member.

The Tennessean is paywalled, so I doubt anyone here cares about a link to it.

But here are some local news source links:

ex]Coronavirus: Leicester could be first city to go into local lockdown amid 'spike' in COVID-19 cases

The home secretary has confirmed that Leicester could be the first city to go into a local lockdown, over reports of a spike in COVID-19 cases.

I get the feeling that Leicester is being fused to set an example to the rest of the U.K. what happens if folk flout the rules, or do dumb things. After the scenes of packed English beaches and having experienced the absolute abandonment of the rules - the misconception of the majority of folk out there that the virus has gone away - I think such an example was necessary.

That’s not to say I agree with Boris Johnson, the venal, ruthless greedy #e. Such an example needs to be made because he’s done an absolutely shambolic job, vastly increasing the number of unnecessary deaths with every decision he’s made.

He currently trying hard to dodge an inquiry, only managing it so far because every week flings a new dead cat on the table that the media can feast on in stead of him.

I’m starting to suspect that he doesn’t want the virus to go away until his BREXIT is done and dusted (a headline today says that he’s demanding the EU get it done by the end of Summer). He knows that whatever bad deal or hard BREXIT he ends up with will cause economic damage, but if that happens soon it’ll be impossible for the critics to separate the damage caused by BREXIT with that caused by the lockdown.

So he’d probably like to keep the virus simmering in the U.K. so that whenever the BREXIT completes he can lockdown large cities because of spikes (he never shows anyone the science behind these his decisions - he simply says they’re ‘based on the science.’

He’ll escape BREXIT criticism, even if that means exacerbating that economic damages as the means of escape.

Yea, governments should make examples out of people who will not be herded by their divine law. Because the government has done so well at everything, and has never lied to, or screwed over you Brits.

Thank god we founded this country and got away from sheep. Your view of government makes me sick. The government has no right to quarantine/lockdown healthy people. No doctor in their right mind quarantines healthy people. It doesn't make sense, yet you are being led like livestock, and you think it was "necessary". Baaaaaaaah Baaaaaah

Are you one of those guys that reply without reading the whole post?

Sounds like it! The rest of my post was as opposite as you get from pro-Boris dictatorship.

As for quarantine... tell me, who does one quarantine only the infected when, without massive testing with immediate results no one knows who is and who isn’t infected.

But you obviously think you’re right to get groceries or whatever rocks your boat is way more important than the lives of the people in your community. It’s not just a selfish attitude, it’s dumb, because not quarantining will allow exponential infection meaning are far longer full quarantine further down the road.

Sure the wankers running the U.K. into an early grave may want to use the virus and lockdowns to suit their agenda. Boris obviously wants to keep lockdowns as a weapon to camouflage the economic damage BREXIT will do. But doesn’t mean the virus isn’t real - they’ll simply ready and willing to sacrifice our lives by not containing the virus until after BREXIT.

But in trying to keep the virus simmering Boris has sent to message to the hard of thinking in the U.K. that it’s all and dumb brits are hitting beaches, the high streets and acting as if it’s all over without safety measures, or any distancing whatsoever. Boris just wants Covid to simmer Until BREXIT’s done, but also not get ousted for it spreading too much in the meantime (he’ll want that second wave as the bad deal is signed with the EU and we flunk out). It’s a fine line.

In the inevitable virus inquiry he can hold up Leicester and say, “Look, I acted when necessary.” Perhaps Leicester doesn’t need to be locked down - we don’t know the exact true r number there. But in spite of, or rather because of Boris’ venal schemes Brits need to know that it’s not all over and acting like twats will send the r number soaring again. Like I said, Boris is saving that for BREXIT, but we all need to see that it’s up to us to avoid it happening at all.

The government being venal psychos ...And locking down a city being the for the best are not mutually exclusive. See past your paranoia - see people dying - deny ignorance.

If only life were so simple - good guys and bad guys! Yes, they are lying, but lying about a truth - never let a disaster go to waste.

Who says I believe the MSM? I certainly didn’t! They lie, the government lie, people are dying across the planet from Covid and dumb people hitting beaches because it’s their right are making it worse. Don’t need the government or the MSM to tell me that. Just common sense.

How do you know they are making it worse? Your honest government tell you? The MSM? The bought and paid for alphabet organizations (CDC/CCP/WHO)?

See what I am getting at?

No, old people dying is normal and to be expected, but making that statement in public is seen today as heresy.

That's not what the actual headline says. they are talking about cyber attacks, not the actual pandemic "House Dems Reject Resolution Condemning China for Coronavirus Cyberattacks"

This is a great discussion on the facts of the lockdown being the worst thing to do.

It's not the beaches that are the problem it is the lack of the immune system -- Need to get our bodies fit and working again.

So if you not fit don't go out in a crowd but otherwise follow the Swedes and Don't Do Dumb #.

SO how is all other countries on lock down benefiting Boris?

Missing your point on a cover-up here the whole world's economy is currently screwed the UK is not any different.

BRexit is now more important to control borders than ever before perhaps you'd be happy in Europe being told to accept 1,000s into Scotland because they jumped on a boat to get western freebies.

There is a very fine tightrope of dammed if you do and dammed if you don't.
You appear to be unable to see a very large problem - money doesn't grow on trees, everyone expects to be paid and life is not fair.

How much longer do you feel the world can carry on a lock down? 6 months a year..... how many will need to die during that time due to misdiagnoses treatments or suicides before unlocking will be allowed?

I wonder if there's some PTSD involved, especially for hospitalized patients. Once you get a handle on how very little medical staff care whether you live or die, it's a little traumatizing.

I didn't try to prove you wrong,

No, you just said I should admit when I am wrong - suggesting that I was wrong, without actually saying anything to try to prove it.

I know your type, bud.

I just pointed out that old people dying can be tragic,

Suggesting that I said or thought otherwise, which was, provably and demonstrably wrong.

I know your type, bud.

"I very much enjoy being proved wrong"

If you expect anyone to believe that, you have clearly been in your echo chamber for decades.

I don't expect anything - except that if you're going to claim I'm wring, that you back it up with facts and evidence.

Still waiting... but I know your type, bud, so I'm not holding my breath.

Glad you're a not bereavement counsellor

You got me there, I'd make a bad one...

Not to mention side effects from some of the treatments they're getting - especially if they were on a ventilator (those do actual physical damage to the lungs).
