You will probaly get this virus in the next year or so.

That is the general consensus, but we'll see what happens.

Gasp! Personal responsibility? Oh the inhumanity.

Apparently you've never been to Florida.

Man asked trooper to leave scene of crash so he could get more meth, FHP says

Florida laughs in the face of personal responsibility on a daily basis.

There's always got to be a few whackos in the crowd.

Sweden's media are not traitors to the country. They support Sweden's government's decision.

Swedish media is so heavily censored, there hands are tied in so many ways theres little point in watching the news. The only way to get the truth is through sites such as flashback.org

A more accurate statement would be...

Swedish media are traitors to there country, the are under total control of the government.

The population of Sweden is only about ten million I think. Multiply their numbers times thirty two to compare them to the USA figures. 9100 infected and almost 800 deaths..... equals 291000 and 25600 deaths.

If you are going to compare stuff, compare it right.

Good for Sweden, they obviously have it all, hot blonde chicks, freedom and furniture you need to assemble with an Allen key.

So what does Trump have to do with this?

On numerous the threads we have had people saying we don't know what the impact of not having the lockdown place is. Looks like Sweden may provide the control group.

Sadly based on deaths and hospitalisation rates it's not looking good so far.

It's in the article. They feel he is wrong about statements he made about Sweden.

Thanks for doing the math, but what about the countries who have locked down their countries and are still experiencing high infection and death rates? I don't think the math is telling the whole story.

Maybe, but as we have all learned by the admission of public figures and media, the statistics of this pandemic are hardly accurate. The margins for error are astronomical considering not everyone is tested, and the test itself is not 100% either.

Same could be said for absolutely every virus, ever. For instance, I don't go to the doctor when I get the flu. I know what it feels like, there's nothing they can do about it, and I thought it out. So even though I've had the flu multiple times in my life, I'm not a part of the statistics.

You have to take into account when the lockdowns went into effect.

Number of cases when lockdown went into effect:
NYC - 7,102
Italy - 9,172
Spain - 7,988
Guatemala (my country) - 19

Looking at the point in the cycle when measures were put in place might show a more accurate picture.

For the death rates you also have to look at the number of ventilators we have ect. If I'm not mistaken we have way more available.

Sure, there are many variables. Age and the health of the population, beds and ventilators.

Here in Guatemala we have 18M people and 56 ventilators. Probably why getting ahead of the curve was deemed important.

Also, adjusting the raw numbers to the size of the population, as rickymouse pointed out earlier in the thread.

As of yesterday, Sweden has just over 9100 infected and almost 800 deaths.

Sweden has only a population of 10 mil. So those numbers are hardly impressive.

Those percentages would translate to around 26,000 deaths in a population the size of the US.

I just have to point out, the percentage death rate is almost useless - because it assumes equal access to testing - which does not exist.

The US is doing more testing than these countries are, these countries are more likely to only be testing the very sick.

A better measurement, would be to compare covid 19 deaths to the countries population. Of course that is not great either, because the infection started at different dates everywhere.

*shrugs* I hope it works for them, I hope they prove the rest of the world wrong, or prove they can handle the responsibility.

Here is to hoping.
