Father in law is giving this clock to my wife for us and for me to fix. LOL !
Apparently it comes with a pendulum.

Wondering if it's junk or something more.

Currently researching it.

Thank you in advance.

Old school mantel clock.

Can you take a few more pics of the back and underneath?

I wanna see if the removal of the movement is done from the back or from the front.

you might be able to use a spudger to remove the movement from the front.

See if the movement has a name on it or something.

1880's-1890's Mantle clock.

Possibly Ansonia

Nice piece...could have some value.

Is the base slate?

Does it have it's key?

Pictures of the back and underside would be good.

That is where the makers marks or names will be.

Also that date of manufacture is important.

Also if a back panel comes off, a pic inside would be terrific.

Trying to get all that info from my wife. Her dad says its 100 years old.

But it and her are some 900 miles away , waiting for a grandson to come into the world.

Maybe pics later.

Need Help With Identifying a Clock

Why should we tell the clock what it is?

Maybe the clock wants to choose it's own identity?

That's our inheritance, btw.

But really looking forward to working on it.

Hey, what was the bowl with inscriptions we researched many years ago?

Always ,

Thats a beautiful clock, and you got an answer on the first page of the thread, ATS can be a great site with a wide range of members.

Title of thread. Need help identifying a clock.

I was just going to try and be comedic and say "The bit with numbers on it is called a face, and the big hand tells you the minutes past, and to the hour, the little hand tells you the hour" or something along those lines, instead I was amazed by the awesomeness of my fellow ATS members!!

I was going to say early 1900's, but that would have been a guess. IAMTAT identified it and confirmed my guess. I love antiques and often watch the antique road show.

Congratulations on the soon to be born Grandbaby! How exciting!

The clock works perfectly, Dad just insisted on removing the pendulum while it is in transit. It seriously needs professional cleaning though. Found a faded piece of paper inside the clock that says in 1982 it was estimated to be between 75-100 years old. You will get to play with it soon enough! lol!
