Think about it America... Your last three Presidents have all taken office under an increasingly large cloud of controversy.

Fortunately, we are still free to protest the outcomes.

Maybe, just maybe it's time y'all just accept that you have all created an absolute circus and farce out of democracy for yourselves and just get on with it.

I am hoping that the debacle of the past two decades will inspire us to fix what's wrong, despite the efforts of the enemies of democracy to sow the seeds of despair.

I was thinking about what I said in the opening post in this thread - I forgot all about Clinton's 'I did not sleep with that woman' and impeachment scandal.

I do not really remember Bush Sr's reign beyond the Iraq war - but this dirty game of sullying presidents goes back at least as far as Clinton.

The people of the USA are not fully aware of what is at stake here I think. And what is at stake is the political order of the entire planet.

If it gets upset and we get into another global style conflict, we have nukes to worry about now. Something that was not an issue in WW2 until the very end of it.

China has a place in the world, but it is definitely not as a super power. .

So it is ok for the USA and Russia to be superpowers, but we must not allow China to be one....

Do you not grasp that the axis of power is shifting?

Consider this;

India is also a nation of 1 billion people.

They also do not like China very much. And they share a border with them, like Russia.

In the years since WW2, the major reason that these two nations have not had a big blow up is that they were not all that militarily advanced.

Right now both countries are building up their military, as is Russia.

After a humiliating defeat in territorial scuffles in 1962, and with China’s subsequent rise to power in Asia, the Indian government neglected development in the border region in an attempt to promote peace and stability. In view of China’s rapid development drive in the disputed region around Ladakh, the outlook in New Delhi has changed considerably. An officer posted in the region, as quoted by The Hindu, said, “There is not much accretion by China, but their logistical capability has gone up.” In a bid to match with China’s military and infrastructure build-up across the border, India has undertaken the construction of roads to facilitate movement of armored vehicles and heavy equipment as well as the development of existing airstrips and advanced landing grounds to expedite the flow of troops and supplies to the area — unreachable by land for most of the winter.

The stable world order that came about after WW2 is crumbling. Putin has been trying to warn the USA who responded by going to proxy war with him in Syria.

I really don't think that most people fully understand what is actually at stake here.

a reply to: LuXTeN I wouldn't want to live in the WH either, god knows how many different intelligence agencies have that place bugged looking for ways to blackmail the first family.

Yes that would be my Number One concern for Trumps Family. It's probably the way they've controlled all the families for decades past, Insiders and Outsiders.

Not quite. The Soviet Union cultivated a relationship with "socialist" India. Russia, as you have pointed out, looks to India as a potential ally against a rising China. The war in Syria is all about Russian access to the Mediterranean. Russia would like to be able to regain its influence in Central Asia, putting it in conflict with its current "ally" Iran. It would be useful for Russia to have an American President who confronts China. This would relieve pressure on Russia's eastern flank, freeing it to concentrate on its southern and western borders.

The one before that got in on a technicality - he actually lost the election, but the recount was delayed until he was sworn in and it was conveniently too late to right the wrong and let the real winner (Al Gore) in.

Naw.

Just establishs precedent of them being sore losers.

I'm not a liberal but how about a little objectivity on the other side of the coin?

The American Papers that Praised Hitler
"They fell hard for the job-creating Führer with eyes that were like ‘blue larkspur.’ Why did so many journalists spend years dismissing the evidence of his atrocities?"
