I would tend to agree, the system is 'broken'. Maybe not completely, but certainly significantly impaired and distressed. The one proviso the founding fathers missed in the US Constitution was an effective deterrent to "career politicians". And it is this career politician mentality which has given rise to the real problem...that of the two-party stranglehold on the American political system.

On the up side, perhaps the madness of the last few elections will indeed break the mold (one can only hope). However, on the darker side; the process could just as equally descend into more madness and chaos going forward.

It is my wish, we as the American people seize upon this opportunity for change and do something good with it...throw out the "establishment" elite and career politicians. If Trump does nothing else, he has coined a term which should live on...the "swamp" needs to be drained. And it very much is a "swamp", a putrid, festering and stagnant swamp with few, if any, redeeming characteristics!

All scandals aside, the one real danger with Hilary was her attitude toward foreign policy.

She was a true Imperialist. She was the reason Libya got toppled and is now in the grips of ISIS in many parts. She would keep the war in Syria going as long as she could just to stop Assad (and Russia) from winning. She would have perpetuated the broken American ideal of toppling Middle East Regimes and then just leaving the countries in dreadful power vacuums where Islamic radicals can and do breed up the worst, most unimaginable evil you can think of to bring to our doorsteps.

She made it very clear she had no time for Putin and therefore Russia by default.

The entire planet would have been living in fear of who was going to launch the nukes first with her in power.

Will Trump get a peace prize like obama did? which might calm the whole thing down. I`m still awaiting the draining the of the swamp. just have to wait and see. Crazy times ahead i think.

All I know is that Trump is the Man who can do the job, the others weren't Leaders, but rather, followers. Trump can't be lead. That's why people like him so much. Every American is responsible for what is happening in the middle east since we invaded Iraq and Afghanistan. It was our representatives that voted for it. As long as these wars have stretched you don't expect bad judgments? Then lets get out of there now.

We are a lot closer to a nuclear war right now than we ever would have been with Hillary. She would not be tweeting and provoking the one china policy. China will not back down.

First paragraph - yes. I agree fully.

Second paragraph - let's see how the Putin / Trump bromance develops. The USA might have a powerful new friend to stabilise that issue.

All is not peachy between China and Russia either - there is a deep mistrust and even paranoia in Russia that China will attempt to annex Siberia.

China has made no secret that it will one day enforce its claims on much of Eastern Russia, which it sees as rightfully belonging to China. With Russia fast becoming the weaker partner in the alliance formed after the west imposed sanctions, just how would China legitimise their claim, and how much territory would they “take back?”

You said "In a democracy...". The United States is not a "democracy", but rather it is a Constitutional Republic.

There is a difference between the two, and this difference is important. Particularly in the context of what followed your statement.

Truer words have never been spoken. And I would like to believe this, above all else, is what got Trump elected.

Clinton represented a clear and present danger to peace in the World, and she made no bones about it either. I have no doubt in my mind she would have started an all out war with Russia. She pretty much said as much.

In the end, it wasn't about Trump, but rather 'not Clinton'.

No worries, it is a fairly common misunderstanding...even by Americans.

The founding principles behind a Constitutional Republic are largely based on elements of a true Democracy, but at the end of the day the US is not a true democracy.
