And your small child is in the position of watching or seeing gay pride parades?

That could be pretty easy in New York, the route is fairly long and conspicuous, it goes down 5th Ave from 52nd and then to Stonewall once it reaches the Village.

Soon the great journey will begin. When it does, the weight of their greed will stay their feet, and they will be left behind.

Wait, I do not like Kim and Kanye because they are self-absorbed jackasses but it has nothing to do with their sexuality. Not a huge fan of Nikki Minaj's music but she is harmless as far as I am concerned. I met Gaga and she was cool, I also liked her on Howard's show, she did a good job with the acoustic performance there.

I'm not suggesting that EVERYONE hates them. I don't for example. And I'm sure there are individuals who love them. But a lot of the hatred I see is because of success. Your opinion about Kim and Kanye is shared by many, but not me. Most people call her a whore or slut, suggesting their hatred has sexual origins.

She can make as many sex tapes as she likes, it has no bearing on me, that is why I called it a jackass instead of a whore/slut.

Her four-year-old is standing out on 5th Ave?

Totally possible. 5th Ave is very touristy, the Village just as much.

New York City is not the murderous hell hole it was in the late 80's early 90's. It is like Disney Land with cool buildings now. *sigh*

We were talking about the displays that can be made out of pride parades. I wouldn't want my kid to see a Carnivale display from Rio either, but for some reason those are not so common in the states.

What I am in that regard is the parent of a small child who does not need to be seeing that no matter what orientation it is from.

Not normally, however he was in the position to watch a couple making out in the supermarket.

To be clear, I am NOT talking about simply touching hands or a discreet peck. I am talking about full on macking on each other. Also, frankly, I disapprove of that from hetero couples too.

That needs to be kept home. I don't need to be explaining it to be toddler.

'Mommy, what are they doing?'

'Well dear, when two people are in love they play tonsil hockey and dry hump.'

'Oh.....'

My objection to the Kardashian clan is that they've made a living out of objectifying themselves. For all that we are supposed to be enlightened, liberated women, we cheer on an entire clan who have reduced themselves to mere shallow playthings who are famous for looking pretty, releasing sex tapes and more or less nothing else. They are objects, not women.

I thought this was not what we were supposed to hold up as the example of womanhood and things our daughters were to aspire to.

I find it high irony that you of all posters like them so much.

As a gay and not rich but well off person, I cannot stand to be around most gays, they can be as annoying as red necks. The whole tranny flaunting pride parade thing is an embarrassment to people who are a victim of being born this way. Also, just because someone is gay doesn't mean they need to act like a fool. As for the rich, you don't need to be a genius to make lots of money, just in who you know.

Ok, fair enough I guess if you're talking about the parades that are vulgar. But many gay pride parades don't have overt sexuality or nudity as a part of its display. Are you still against those types of parades?

An embarrassment to you. Not to the trannys who love themselves. I suggest that they love themselves to not affected by anti-sexuality people.

Quick funny and relevant.

People aren't jealous of the rich, they're envious. So in this sense the rich are jealous of the poor!

My guess is that Ketsuko, like me is against ANY parade
where people behave in a manner,
that if they were not in the parade
they would be arrested for indecency.

No matter what or who the parade is for or about.

If the people behave decently and don't carry porn on banners
then fine, I don't care what the parade is about.

By decently, I mean clothed in a manner so one can not see their genitalia,
and not play acting out pornographic scenes,
and not subjecting people to pornographic pictures,
then parade away.

Parades are often if not usually held in very public places,
hence the word parade,
and in public places one needs to be aware there
can be children present and
adults who don't want to see someone else's genitalia
wiggled their direction.

There is no pride in sexuality
when one publicly displays genitalia,
it is self-absorbed
narcissistic
exhibitionism
not comfort with sexuality.

BTW, Tranny's can be quite beautiful, and normally don't
display their genitalia, as they attempt to emulate
ladies. So Tranny's don't take my parade disgust at those
who want to display genitalia publicly to mean you.
Because Tranny's normally understand the meaning
of being a lady. Of course, maybe I'm wrong here,
but most seem to me to try and be ladies.

Do not all actors, models, and entertainers objectify themselves? Do you object to Heidi Klum?

For all that we are supposed to be enlightened, liberated women, we cheer on an entire clan who have reduced themselves to mere shallow playthings who are famous for looking pretty, releasing sex tapes and more or less nothing else. They are objects, not women.

I don't see them that way. They are not shallow. They are business women, IMO. If YOU see them as objects, that's up to you.

I thought this was not what we were supposed to hold up as the example of womanhood and things our daughters were to aspire to.

Not in the habit of listening to people tell me who I'm "supposed" to find appropriate as an example of womanhood.

I find it high irony that you of all posters like them so much.

I don't "like them so much". I bring them up as an example of people that a lot of people hate because of their success and sexuality.

IMO, a parent should be prepared to explain ANYTHING to their child. You can't shelter them forever.

Great point here Benevolent.

People are so quick to say good on someone for being successful.

...Until they take issue with the how.
