I'm not sure on this, although I do consider myself to be a follower and believer of Christ and his teachings. But they say the best way to spread misinformation is to include some truth in it. So with that said, I do believe the bible contains some important information. Since I wasn't there, the best I can do is to use my own best judgement, which can be a very precarious situation, trusting your own judgement... your own, flawed, human perception. But its all we have, and with experience you can hone your own mind into a trustworthy tool, but keep in mind it is not impervious to deception.
In a way, we cannot really be held to fault, if we are geniunely trying. Because we do not have all the necessary informstion or the tools to make a proper determination. But I do stand by the teachings of Jesus about love and kindness and forgiveness and faith in God. It rings true for me.
Grow up and face reality. Do something useful.
a reply to: stosh64 Just one example but Martin Luther never started the Leutherian Church . en.wikipedia.org... Some denominations will use a doctrine like baptism . Not all churches are considered denominational . Some turn into large organisations like the RCC or The Church of England .
Thank you, I would appreciate it if you would post more info as you find it.
One thing that blows my mind is from 20,000 to 40,000 different Christian denominations.
How can that be when they are all based on basically the same book?

First off, confusion about the Bible and the Lord is natural. We're inundated from an early age, as to what is supposedly right and wrong. Yet we read the Bible, and our beliefs are challenged by God. Our secular upbringing clouds our reasoning. You fear that the Bible has been altered, which is just a lack of faith. Secularists will tell you that Constantine this, and corrupt that, but in the end, they cannot produce any corruption, just some postulation as to why there would be any, as if there automatically were. You see, it's all part of the game, they've been trying (unsuccessfully) for YEARS to tell people that the Bible is wrong, and that believers just need to 'grow up, and live in the real world.' Problem is, their 'World' is an infection, that spreads like cancer. Their 'world' tells you that your nothing more than an insignificant bag of bodily fluids, with no hope, no future, and no purpose. You, SIr/Madam DO HAVE A PURPOSE, and it's not to buy things to float the economy, it's not to get out and vote, it's to serve God, in whatever capacity you can. He doesn't expect miracles, he just expects effort.
All in all you have a choice. Believe your Enemy, who hates you and does His utmost to oppress you, steal you light, and lead you into temptation, and therefor Hell. Or, you can believe your Creator, who just wants you to spend the rest of eternity with Him, not sure what the issue is really, it's pretty simple. People somehow think that God is bad because he doesn't deal with BS, I think that is one of His greatest virtues.

So maybe in another few thousand years, it'll make sense?

Thank you for your post and I love the scripture you posted.
In my mind there is no doubt Jesus is my savior. And I feel Blessed he is taking me on a Journey.

Disclaimer: There were always parts of the bible that just didn't make sense to me.
I am not referring to the supernatural parts or even the slaughter of whole tribes. I believe that is related to the fallen ones and is for another thread.
One part, why did God tell Abraham to sacrifice Isaac? First it doesn't seem like something God would do to 'test' man, and Abraham never questioned the spirit like Jesus tells us to, and an Angel of the Lord stops him at the last second. Why didn't the Angel tell him to do it in the first place. Is it possible he was tempted by satan and God stepped in at the last moment to prevent this evil act?
First John 4:1
1Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God;…
Please don't focus just on that example. My question is much bigger than that.
